Straight Up (Sebastian Morera)
The Panthers have yet to win. They opened with a 34-30 loss to Las Vegas before getting blown out by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-17. Now Carolina has to prove that it has the pieces in place to be a contender in the NFC South. The Panthers will have to do so facing a Los Angeles team with a rookie under center and without star RB Christian McCaffrey.
Granted, rookie Justin Herbert looked pretty good in his debut against the Chiefs. He finished with 311 passing yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. I’m expecting Los Angeles to rally around the toughness their rook showed and feed Carolina to an 0-3 start.

Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
No Christian McCaffrey (out several weeks due to an ankle injury), no party. It’s going to be a tough season for the Carolina Panthers (23.5 points per game) but at least the connection between QB Teddy Bridgewater and WR Robby Anderson is getting better and better.
The Los Angeles Chargers QB battle started, for real, last week after rookie Justin Herbert threw for 311 yards and 1 touchdown against the Kansas Chiefs (they lost in overtime by a field goal). Now, Tyrod Taylor’s progress is being monitored week to week after a team doctor punctured his lung with a needle while attempting a routine pain medication injection.
The total has gone under in four or the Chargers’ last six games against the Panthers. Go under once again as both teams are adapting to new and hard realities.
