Straight Up (Sebastian Morera)
The Lions enter this contest with a 1-3 record after coming up short against the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. Detroit enjoyed a Bye Week this past weekend so we’ll see if that extra rest is enough to get them a win over the Jaguars.
Jacksonville is coming off a 30-14 loss to the Texans and are becoming desperate. They’ve lost the last four in a row and failing to beat Detroit is not a good look. Gardner Minshew is doing all he can and is putting up good numbers but the Jaguars, as a team, are not finding ways to win games. However, I really want to see Matt Patricia lose his job so I’m sticking with Minshew.
Against the Spread (Devlin Duckett)
The Detroit Lions (1-3) suffered a disappointing loss vs the Saints in Week 4, blowing a two TD lead to lose 35-29. Detroit is now well rested after the bye week, and won’t lose this week in Jacksonville. However, winning straight up does not mean that the point spread will be covered.
The Lions are 3-12 ATS over their last 15 games, and have shown a propensity to implode in the second half of games. I expect Detroit to jump out to an early lead, with Jacksonville storming back in the third and fourth quarter. Jags’ QB Gardner Minshew has 10 touchdown passes on the season, and that’s good for seventh-best in the NFL. Minshew will keep Jacksonville in the game, and they’ll lose by one or two points. Take the home dog with the points, in what will be a nail-biter for bettors everywhere.

Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
The Detroit Lions come from their bye week and some key players like WR Kenny Golladay should be ready to play at 100%.
The Lions’ running game is pretty much non-existent but QB Matt Stafford and the receiver corps are ready to take some advantages against a pretty vulnerable secondary.
After four games, the Lions average 24.8 points per game and the total has gone over in five of Detroit’s last seven games.
The mustache is losing power as the Jacksonville Jaguars are on a losing streak (4).
QB Gardner Minshew has thrown for 300+ yards in three games but they have lost all those games. RB James Robinson hasn’t scored in the last two games and the offense needs that balance.
The Jaguars average 21.8 points per game and the total has gone over in four of Jacksonville’s last seven games. Go over as both defenses are vulnerable.
