It’s always fun to see a player come around and add excitement to a game. Jeremy Lin is one of my favorite examples. Minshew Mania was reminiscent of those times.
I’m excited to see Gardner Minshew’s second act when it begins on September 13 in NFL Week 1 action.

Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars History
Although these two are divisional rivals, the Jaguars and Colts have only met 38 times. This is because Jacksonville is still a young franchise. Out of those 38 meetings, the Colts have taken the series lead 24-14.
Last Season Recap
Indy and the Jags have alternated wins over the last two seasons with each team defending their home turf.
Their first meeting of 2019 came in Week 11 when the Colts hosted Jacksonville. The running game dominated Jacksonville and helped secure the victory. Jonathan Williams finished the day with 116 rushing yards and an 8.9 yards per attempt average. Marlon Mack added 109 on the ground and found the end zone once himself. The Colts would add two more TDs on the ground and one through the air to defeat Jacksonville 33-13.
Nick Foles had 296 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and a single interception for Jacksonville on the day.
The last time these teams met, the Jaguars won 38-20 as 5.5-point favorites. They’re an even 10-10 in their last 20 games, though Jacksonville has been the better bet with a 12-7-1 ATS record in the series over the past 10 years.
The Jaguars’ success in that Week 17 matchup came off the back of Gardner Minshew. Not only does he have one of the best names in the NFL, he’s got the mustache to back it up. Minshew would finish the game with 295 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception.
Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars News & Betting Picks
Get ready to sink your teeth into this Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars betting matchup by checking out the latest news regarding both teams down below. Take a look at breaking news, player interviews as well as last year’s team statistics.
Indianapolis relied on their running game, led by Marlon Mack, for offensive production last year. Mack rushed for 1,091 yards and nine touchdowns. Indy’s rushing attack ranked 7th in the NFL with 133.1 rushing yards per game.
The Colts added Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor to that backfield squad through the draft. They also drafted WR Michael Pittman Jr. out of USC with the 34th overall pick.
Indianapolis was home to one of the worst passing offenses in the league. They ranked 30th in passing yards and 20th in passing touchdowns. That should all change with Philip Rivers at the helm.
Rivers is a deep ball passer who will be thrilled to be slinging it to T.Y. Hilton. This offense may look very different on the field than they did with Jacoby Brissett under center.
Minshew Mania was fun as hell. Gardner Minshew II took a Jacksonville team that no one cared about and put them front row and center for a few weeks. Whether you care about the Jags or not, you know who Minshew is.
The Jags weren’t even good. They finished 6-10. Still, Minshew’s play combined with his personality, stash, and jorts were a combination we needed.
Is Minshew the quarterback that can propel Jacksonville forward into AFC South contention? He’ll count on Leonard Fournette, DJ Chark Jr., Dede Westbrook, Chris Conley, and Tyler Eifert on offense.
Jacksonville drafted cornerback C.J. Henderson from Florida and linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson out of LSU both in the first round.

Colts Feeling Ready for Playoffs
Last season the Indianapolis Colts had a disappointing year, playing well below their potential and ending up at 7-9. They finished 3rd in the AFC South and this was a big step backwards following their 10-6 record from the previous year.
This big news for the Colts this year is the acquisition of star QB Philip Rivers. Rivers signed a one-year, $25 million contract and they’ll be expecting a lot from him. Between him and Pro Bowl tight end Jack Doyle, Indianapolis is poised for a good season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will have to put more focus on their offense this season. They only averaged 18.75 PPG last year and were ranked 26th in the league. Gardner Minshew made his rookie debut due to Foles’ shoulder injury and made the most of it. He averaged seven yards per completion and had a quarterback rating of 91.2.
Overall the Colts are looking to be a much better team than the Jaguars and the odds show it. Consider making an under bet on this game as the Jaguars will struggle to get their offense going Week 1.
Over/Under Pick (Zack Robinson)
There’s a new sheriff in the Indianapolis Colts town: Philip Rivers. The experienced QB moved to the AFC South looking for a better shot at the Playoffs and, eventually, at the Super Bowl Odds. Rivers should be pilling big individual numbers since Week 1 thanks to a speedy receivers corp.
On the other side, the Jacksonville Jaguars look like a disaster after losing several key players during free agency or due to Covid-19 individual concerns. It’s going to be a long season for QB Gardner Minshew and the Jags. The total has gone over only in six of the last eighteen games between Indianapolis and Jacksonville, I like the under for this one.
