Straight Up (Gilad Chudler)
The Jacksonville Jaguars came up with an impressive win against the Indianapolis Colts, 27-20 victory. Garnder Minshew was on point all game long, going almost 100% with his completions. He finished the 19-of-20 attempts for 173 yards and three touchdown passes. He also carried the ball 5 times for 19 yards.
James Robinson had 16 carries for 62 yards while Keelan Cole led the receivers with 5 catches for 47 yards and a touchdown. Overall, they were careful with their play selection and their high completion rate won them the game.
The Tennessee Titans barely beat the Denver Broncos in their season opener,16-14. Ryan Tannehill completed 29-of-43 attempts for 249 yards and two touchdown passes. Derrick Henry had 31 carries for 116 yards and Corey Davis had 7 receptions for 101 yards. Jonnu Smith and MyCole Pruitt didn’t handle the ball as much but each had a touchdown.
The Titans shouldn’t have any major issues against the Jaguars but they’ll have to activate their offense.
Against the Spread (Sebastian Morera)
Gardner Minshew had an amazing start to the 2020 season. The second-year quarterback put up 173 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and a 142.3 passer rating. Had it not been for the four sacks he gave up on the day, Minshew would’ve had a perfect passer rating. Now Minshew looks to fill up the stat sheet against a tough Tennessee defense. The odds don’t think he’ll get the job done as they’re favoring Tennessee and are giving the Titans a 7.5-spread to cover.
I expect Minshew to come out as his usual charismatic self and lead this Jacksonville team to a 2-0 start. This means the Jaguars will be covering the spread in this AFC South contest. The Titans put up 16 points in their opener so I don’t think they’ll be able to compete with the Jags’ explosiveness.
Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
The Jacksonville Jaguars pulled off the upset against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 (27-20) with a great performance from QB Gardner Minshew (173 YDS, 3 TD) but their running game is far from great.
The Tennessee Titans struggled against a Denver Broncos defense without its best player (Von Miller) but Derrick Henry (116 YDS) looked as reliable as ever while WR Corey Davis (101 YDS) proved that he can still be their No. 1 receiver. The Titans scored just 16 points; it could have been 26 but K Stephen Gostkowski missed three FG and one extra point.
The total has gone over in five of Tennessee’s last six games at home and last season the Titans crushed the Jaguars 42-20 in Tennessee. Go over.
