Straight Up (Gilad Chudler)
The Chiefs kicked things off with a solid 34-20 win over the Ravens. The offense didn’t look as explosive as last season but rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire looked great. He finished with 138 rushing yards and a touchdown. It’s almost infuriating to see Kansas City win a Super Bowl Odds and pick up a running back this promising right away. Granted it was Week 1 so we’ll have to wait and see what the rook can do against the Chargers.
The odds are once again giving the Chiefs a large spread to cover. Kansas City didn’t have a problem covering the 10-point spread against the Texans and I don’t see them having a problem covering this 9-point spread against the Chargers either.
Against the Spread (Sebastian Morera)
The Lions suffered a 27-23 to the Bears in Week 1. Now they look to rebound against a tougher NFC North opponent. Although the odds are pegging Detroit as a heavy underdog, the Lions have had quite a bit of success against the Packers recently. In fact, the Lions are 4-2 SU in their last 6 against Green Bay and 6-0 ATS as well. But is that betting trend enough to convince you to take the Lions against that 6.5 spread?
Considering how dominant the Packers looked in their opener, I’m going to go ahead and say it isn’t. Expect the Packers to come out and deliver another lopsided victory over an NFC North rival. Green Bay will certainly cover the spread.
Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
New season, same Kansas City Chiefs with more than 30 points per game. Patrick Mahomes led the way in Week 1 with 211 yards and 3 touchdowns, but the best news for HC Andy Reid and the entire offensive unit was that RB Clyde Edwards-Helarie ran for 138 yards and one touchdown.
It’s been a while since the Chiefs had a dominant runner (Kareem Hunt) but it seems that they already found it and it was the only thing they were missing.
The total has gone over in four of Kansas City’s last five games.
The QB Tyrod Taylor era with the Los Angeles Chargers began with a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, but the Chargers need to play so much better if they want to have a chance against the reigning champions. RB Joshua Kelly (60 YDS, 1 TD) emerged as a good surprise. Go over.
