Against the Spread (Devlin Duckett)
The Los Angeles Chargers smacked the Jaguars 39-29 last week, and rookie QB Justin Herbert has been playing electric football. The Broncos’ blitz-happy defense will challenge Herbert, but the Chargers’ fifth-ranked passing attack will prove to be too much for Denver to handle. The Broncos got buried alive 43-16 when Kansas City came to town in Week 7, and the offensive line is hurting. Drew Lock isn’t being protected, and L.A. now has its top two pass rushers back in action.
Melvin Ingram and Justin Jones will be pressuring Lock all day. The Chargers’ D sacked Gardner Minshew five times last Sunday, and will look to continue their rampage in Denver. Los Angeles is 5-1 ATS this season, and Denver is 7-19-1 ATS over its last 27 games vs divisional opponents. It could be pretty ugly for the Broncos this Sunday. Chargers 34, Broncos 10
Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
Justin Herbert is looking pretty good as the Los Angeles Chargers starting quarterback.
The rookie threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also ran for 66 yards and one touchdown, something Philip Rivers rarely did.
The Chargers average 24.8 points per game and the total has gone over in seven of LA’s last nine games on the road.
Drew Lock has been inconsistent, and the Denver Broncos need much more than that from their starting QB.
The Broncos average 19.3 points per game and so far, their MVP has been kicker Brandon McManus.
The total has gone under in four of Denver’s last five games against the Chargers. Last season both games ended with a total under 45 points.
Go under in a close one as the Broncos defense is better than it looks.
