Straight Up (Gilad Chudler)
The New York Giants had a tough season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Big Ben was too much for Daniel Jones and the Giants to handle, 26-16.
The Giants never really stood a chance all game long and didn’t have any dominant quarters. Jones had a decent showing completing 26-of-41 attempts for 279 yards. He threw two touchdown passes but also turned the ball over twice with two interceptions.
Darius Slayton carried the offense with 6 receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
The Chicago Bears are coming into Week 2 at 1-0 after defeating the Detroit Lions. Mitch Trubisky completed 20-of- 36 for 242 yards with three touchdown passes. He also carried the ball three times for 26 yards.
David Montgomery was on a tear with 13 carries for 64 yards. The receivers seemed spread out and a lot of players got their hands on the ball, but Anthony Miller stood out with four receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown.
The Bears looked in form in Week 1 and should continue their season with a second win in a row.
Against the Spread (Sebastian Morera)
The Bears managed to pull a 27-23 win over the Lions to kick their season off. Now they’re favored over the New York Giants quite heavily on the moneyline. On top of that, they’ve got to cover a 5.5 spread. Chicago’s key to victory lies in stopping the Giants running game.
The Steelers showed that’s it’s possible to completely neutralize New York’s running game, putting all the pressure on the young Daniel Jones. If the Bears are able to replicate this recipe, they should be able to cover the spread. The Giants are coming off a disappointing 26-16 loss to the Steelers and there’s no reason to expect them to turn things around in Week 2.
Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
Right now, the New York Giants main priority shouldn’t be win football games but to recover the best version of RB Saquon Barkley. In Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Barkley ran for 6 yards in 15 attempts, that’s right a ridiculous 0.4 yards per attempt, and they are facing a pretty good defense against the run game.
On the other hand, the connection between QB Daniel Jones and WR Darius Slayton looked really good and promising for the near future.
The Chicago Bears won in Week 1 with QB Mitch Trubisky under center. He threw three touchdowns passes in the fourth quarter against the Detroit Lions and will be the starter once again in Week 2. If they find a solid starter at RB the Bears can be a real menace.
The total has gone over in 10 of Chicago’s last 15 games against the Giants. Go over once again in a close one.
