San Francisco 49ers vs New England Patriots News & Picks
Against the Spread (Devlin Duckett)
The 49ers are slowly returning to the form that took them to the Super Bowl odds last year. Meanwhile, the Patriots are slipping, watching the Bills and Dolphins summit the AFC East. Cam Newton’s return to the field wasn’t enough to propel New England to victory last week, as the Patriots lost to the scrappy Broncos in Foxboro.
Newton’s passer rating (81.5) is almost 20 points lower than Jimmy Garoppolo’s (101.2), and the Niners D is still in the top-10. Expect Newton to struggle at home again, against San Francisco’s fifth-ranked passing defense. Garoppolo is no doubt hungry to savor a victory in his old stomping grounds, and he’ll get the chance. 49ers 20, Patriots 18
Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
The San Francisco 49ers lost, once again, RB Raheem Mostert due to injury. Jeff Wilson Jr. should be more involved in the offensive plan, but he’s not the same.
Jimmy Garoppolo has been inconsistent, but the defense looked a lot better in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams.
The 49ers average 24.7 points per game and the total has gone under in seven of San Francisco’s last ten games played in October.
Cam Newton and the New England Patriots are in trouble after losing to a young Denver Broncos’ team.
Newton has not been consistent and the Patriots’ running game is poor.
The Patriots average 21.8 points per game (eighth worst in the league) and the total has gone under in four of New England’s last six games.
Go under in a defensive matchup.
