Against the Spread (Devlin Duckett)
The Saints are 10-point home favorites this week against a tragic 49ers team that still has postseason plans. San Francisco isn’t entirely delusional, and beating Drew Brees & Co. in The Big Easy would certainly help its cause. The 49ers are getting starting tackle Trent Williams and WR Brandon Aiyuk back, and perhaps WRs Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne as well. The Saints’ defense should have its hands full, and this contest smells like a trap. Look for Niners’ QB Nick Mullens to have a career day, possibly pulling off the upset in New Orleans. It’s certainly possible, but it’s more likely that the 49ers give the Saints a heck of a fight, covering the spread while they’re at it. Saints 30, 49ers 24
Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
The San Francisco 49ers’ offensive unit is not the same as a year ago when they won the NFC. With Jimmy Garoppolo, George Kittle, Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson out, the Niners depend on Nick Mullens, Jordan Reed and Jerick McKinnon.
HC Kyle Shanahan expects RB Tevin Coleman to be back, but he’s no longer a guarantee as he’s prone to injuries.
The 49ers average 25 points per game and the total has gone under in 13 of San Francisco’s last 20 games when playing on the road against New Orleans.
With Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, Emmanuel Sanders, Michael Thomas and Jared Cook 100% healthy, the New Orleans Saints offense can be the best in the league.
They already proved that against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (won 38-3) and they want to prove it again against the 49ers.
The Saints average 30.5 points per game (fourth best in the league) and the total has gone over in four of New Orleans’ last five games at home.
Go under in an easy one for the Saints.
