Straight Up (Sebastian Morera)

The Niners lost 4 starters in their Week 2 win over the Jets. Who knew a win over Gang Green could cost so much? Although the team tried to blame the turf, it now has to find a way to win games without key players. Ultimately this gives New York an opportunity to try and snag an upset win over San Fran.

Surprisingly enough, New York’s Week 3 odds aren’t as bad as one would expect. After all, Big Blue is 0-2. On top of that, Daniel Jones has looked pretty shoddy with 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and a 50.7 QBR. Jones’ lack of success, coupled with the Giants’ inability to run the ball, will result in the Giants’ third loss of the season. The Niners may be banged up but that won’t be enough to come up short against the Giants.

Against the Spread (Devlin Duckett)

SF must be traumatized from what they’ve endured this season already, following their choke vs KC in Super Bowl LIV.  The 49ers lost in Week 1 to an Arizona Cardinals team that is supposed to be in a developmental stage. Then in Week 2, SF beat the Jets handily, but lost half the team to injury, blaming the playing surface. The Niners return to that very same “sticky surface” at MetLife Stadium, only a week removed from the incident.

The 49ers will be without defensive standout Nick Bosa, starting QB Jimmy Garappolo, and RBs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman. The Giants have lost RB Saquon Barkley (knee) for the season, and WR Sterling Shepard (toe) will miss at least three games.

This is the game that NY tight end Evan Engram steps up, providing a security blanket for QB Daniel Jones. The Giants offensive line has been unreliable, and the running game stagnant. It’ll be Engram, WR Darius Slayton, and RB Dion Lewis who help head coach Joe Judge earn his first win.

Over/Under (Zack Robinson)

The San Francisco 49ers injuries are serious.

In Week 2 against the New York Jets, they managed to score just ten points after losing Jimmy Garoppolo and Raheem Mostert; the Niners are averaging 25.5 points per game but now it seems like QB Nick Mullens and RB Jerick McKinnon will be commanding their offense.

With a healthy Saquon Barkley the New York Giants were averaging 14.5 points per game (worst in the league) and now Barkley is out for the rest of the season. They signed veteran Devonta Freeman but he’s going to need time to regain confidence.

It seems like the Giants always have a hard time at the beginning of the season as the total has gone under in four of their last five games played in September. Go under in a match of wounded teams.
