Against the Spread (Devlin Duckett)
The Jekyll-and-Hyde Tennessee Titans (8-4) visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-11), in what should be a surprisingly good game. As of this writing, the oddsmakers rate the Titans as 7½-point road favorites. Despite nearly roaring back from a humbling 38-7 halftime deficit vs the Browns last week, the Titans ultimately lost 41-35. The Tennessee defense played terribly against a mediocre Cleveland offense, as the Browns racked up 458 total yards. Titans’ RB Derrick Henry was more or less neutralized, rushing for just 60 yards on 15 carries, and no touchdowns. Meanwhile, Jacksonville has lost 11 straight contests, but has covered ATS in four of its previous five games. Jacksonville was edged by Minnesota 27-24 in overtime last week, and the Jags are chomping at the bit. QB Mike Glennon has been doing a respectable job as fill-in for Gardner Minshew, and he’ll get the nod again here. In Week 8 the Titans were favored by more than a touchdown, and they lost outright to the Bengals 31-20. Tennessee wins, but fails to cover. Titans 27, Jaguars 23
Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
The Tennessee Titans lost last week despite scoring 35 points. Their defense allowed 41 points against the Cleveland Browns, and they allow 27.2 points per game.
That game was Derrick Henry’s worst in a long time (60 rushing yards and one lost fumble), which means he will be eager for revenge. Also, WR’s Corey Davis and A.J. Brown have been sensational.
The Titans average 29.9 points per game (third-best in the league) and the total has gone under in eight of Tennessee’s last 10 when playing on the road against the Jaguars.
Jacksonville has been better with Mike Glennon under center, but it keeps losing. RB James Robinson has been carrying the load offensively.
The Jaguars average 20.9 points per game and the total has gone over in ten of Jacksonville’s last 14 games against an opponent from the AFC South.
Tennessee already beat Jacksonville 33-30 (Week 2). Go over once again.
