NFL Week 16 Matchups Overview

As we already mentioned, the NFL Week 16 action begins on Friday afternoon with an NFC matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. While the Saints have already clinched a playoff spot, they are still fighting for the NFC Conference’s No. 1 seed.

A total of three games are scheduled for Saturday, starting with Tampa Bay vs Detroit, followed by the 49ers vs Cardinals and, last but not least, Miami vs Las Vegas.

That leaves us with 11 games scheduled for Sunday, including a very appealing Sunday Night matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers.

On the last Monday Night game of the season, the Buffalo Bills will pay a visit to the New England Patriots. This is the first division title for the Bills in a quarter of a century, and you know they’ll be dying to put these Patriots in their place.

We have you covered with the latest news, stats, info and NFL Week 16 odds for all matchups.

NFL Games of the Week

The Minnesota Vikings are already eliminated, but Drew Brees is back and the New Orleans Saints need to win in order to keep up with the Green Bay Packers at atop the NFC.

Both the Miami Dolphins and the Las Vegas Raiders still have chances to grab a playoff spot, and that’s why their Saturday night matchup at Allegiant Stadium is so important.

On Sunday night, Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans visit Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. The Titans need to win in order to maintain the AFC South top spot, and the Packers need to win in order to remain atop the NFC.

The Buffalo Bills have already won the AFC East, but they want to finish strong by beating the New England Patriots, who are already eliminated.

Without further ado, here are our BetUS Games of the Week for Week 15 of the 2020 NFL Season. All game preview odds are as of writing.

  • Minnesota Vikings

    VS

    New Orleans Saints (-7)

    December 25, 4:30 pm ET

Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings (6-8) are already eliminated, but they don’t want to finish the season with a record under .500. Dalvin Cook has been sensational all year long, but Cousins has been very inconsistent. The defense is going to face a different version of Drew Brees but still a good one.

The Vikings are 4-1 ATS in their last five games on the road.

Drew Brees returned to the field last week, but that wasn’t enough for the New Orleans Saints (10-4) to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Brees had a bad game, but he can be a lot better. The Saints will be without Michael Thomas for the rest of the regular season. They hope to have him back for the postseason. Emmanuel Sanders should be the No. 1 target during Thomas’ absence.

The Saints are 4-1 SU in their last five games at home. They could clinch the NFC South with a victory.

  • Miami Dolphins (-2 ½)

    VS

    Las Vegas Raiders

    December 26, 8:15 pm ET

Right now, Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins (9-5) are the No. 7 seed in the AFC. They won three of their last four games (lost against the Kansas City Chiefs in a close one) and Tagovailoa has been playing really well for a rookie.

The Dolphins also found new weapons such as RB Salvon Ahmed, who ran for 122 yards and one touchdown against the New England Patriots (Week 15). With Ahmed, and eventually Miles Gaskin, the Dolphins offense could be very good through the ground.

Miami is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games.

The Las Vegas Raiders (7-7) are in a must win situation, at least if they want to keep their Playoff hope alive.

Derek Carr remains questionable, but if he’s not able to play Marcus Mariota will be under center. He played really well against the Los Angeles Chargers (Week 15). If he keeps throwing to Darren Waller, he should be just fine.

The Raiders are 5-1 SU in their last six games played in Week 16.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Miami Dolphins vs Las Vegas Raiders matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Tennessee Titans (-3½)

    VS

    Green Bay Packers

    December 27, 8:20 pm ET

This should be a great offensive matchup.

On the Tennessee Titans (10-4) side, we have Derrick Henry, who leads the league with 1,679 rushing yards. We also have A.J. Brown and Corey Davis, two No.1 receivers at Ryan Tannehill’s disposal.

The Titans are fighting for the AFC South title and they are 4-2 ATS in their last six games against an opponent from the NFC North.

On the Green Bay Packers (11-3) side, we have Aaron Jones (fourth in the league with 968 yards), and of course Aaron Rodgers (in the MVP race alongside Patrick Mahomes) and Davante Adams, considered by many to be the best QB-WR combo in the league.

The Packers already won the NFC North, but they want to finish as the NFC No. 1 seed in order to have an extra bye week.

Green Bay are 12-1 SU in their last 13 games at Lambeau Field.

  • Buffalo Bills (-7)

    VS

    New England Patriots

    December 28, 8:15 pm ET

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills (11-3) just crushed the Denver Broncos on the road. They are playing the best football that Buffalo has seen in years. Allen has been sensational, and so have Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, Zack Moss and Davin Singletary. The Bills can hurt you either way, through the air or through the ground; even the defense can score.

The Bills still have a chance to finish as the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but the Chiefs losing to the Falcons is very unlikely. Buffalo are 5-0 SU in their last five games against an opponent from the AFC.

Well, the New England Patriots (6-8) are already eliminated from the postseason. That’s the first time since 2008. Cam Newton hasn’t been what the Patriots expected, but in all fairness, New England suffered a lot of injuries; and several players opted out before the season even started due to the pandemic situation. Now, Newton has to play really well in the last two games, at least if he wants to be back next year.

The Patriots are 4-1 ATS in their last five games when playing as the underdog.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-9 ½)

    VS

    Detroit Lions

    December 26, 1:00 pm ET

Tom Brady led another comeback against the Atlanta Falcons (Week 15) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-5) still have the chance to win the NFC South, but they need the New Orleans Saints to lose. The Bucs’ haven’t been very consistent, but with Brady under center and a wide variety of offensive weapons at his disposal, they can fight “mano a mano” against any team.

Tampa Bay are 5-1 SU in their last six games on the road.

The Detroit Lions (5-9) are already eliminated, but several players are kind of auditioning for the next coaching staff. Matthew Stafford keeps playing despite being injured. He remains questionable for next Saturday, but he already said that he wants to play. Without Kenny Golladay on the field due to injury, the Lions have been running more; D’Andre Swift and veteran Adrian Peterson have been carrying the load.

The Lions are 4-2 ATS in their last six games against an opponent from the NFC.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Detroit Lions matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • San Francisco 49ers

    VS

    Arizona Cardinals (-3 ½)

    December 26, 4:30 pm ET

The San Francisco 49ers (5-9) are already eliminated, but they have been a tough opponent lately, mainly for divisional rivals. Nick Mullens remains questionable, which means that C.J. Beathard could be under center. Raheem Mostert is also questionable, but the Niners’ have Jeff Wilson Jr. and Tevin Coleman to carry the load if necessary.

The 49ers are 1-5 SU in their last six games when playing on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.

Speaking of the Cardinals (8-6), right now they are the No. 7 seed in the NFC, but they have to be more consistent in order to be more competitive. As expected, DeAndre Hopkins has been sensational, but Kyler Murray needs to develop more chemistry with some other receivers’ such as Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. RB Kenyan Drake already proved that he can carry the load if needed.

The Cardinals are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played in Week 16 and they already beat the 49ers 24-20 (Week 1).

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our San Francisco 49ers vs Arizona Cardinals matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Carolina Panthers

    VS

    Washington Football Team (-2½)

    December 20, 1:00 pm ET

The Carolina Panthers (4-10), who are already eliminated, parted ways with GM Marty Hurney, which means that they are already thinking about next year. Teddy Bridgewater has been playing well enough to remain as their starting QB, but they really need Christian McCaffrey back in order to compete. Mike Davis (backup) is not bad, but he’s not good enough to carry the load.

The Panthers are 2-4 ATS in their last six games against an opponent from the NFC East.

The Washington Football Team (6-8) could win the NFC East with an 8-8 record. Veteran Alex Smith remains questionable, which means Dwayne Haskins could be under center once again. Fortunately for him, the Washington Football Team defense has been carrying the load, and they shouldn’t have too much trouble against the Panthers.

Washington are 4-10 SU in their last 14 games played in December. They have to win if they want to depend only on themselves to win the divisional title.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Carolina Panthers vs Washington Football Team matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Indianapolis Colts

    VS

    Pittsburgh Steelers (-2 ½)

    December 20, 1:00 pm ET

    What a game!

The Indianapolis Colts (10-4) are still fighting for the divisional title (AFC South), and the Pittsburgh Steelers (11-3) are in a must win situation after losing three straight games, the last one against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Philip Rivers, Jonathan Taylor, T.Y. Hilton, Zach Pascal and Marcus Pittman Jr. have been sensational for the Colts’, but their defense has been even better, allowing just 22.9 points per game.

The Colts need to win and hope the Titans lose in order to climb up to the AFC South’s top spot. They are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against Pittsburgh.

Believe it or not, the Steelers have lost to Washington and Cincinnati. Consistency has been an issue for their No. 1 receiver (Juju Smith Schuster) and TE Eric Ebron remains questionable. Their receivers overall have dropped more passes than any other team by a wide margin. The Steelers could lose the division to the Cleveland Browns, and that’s why they are in a must-win situation. But they’ve already clinched a playoff spot.

Pittsburgh are 15-1 SU in their last 16 games when playing at home against Indianapolis.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Indianapolis Colts vs Pittsburgh Steelers matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Atlanta Falcons

    VS

    Kansas City Chiefs (-10)

    December 27, 1:00 pm ET

The Atlanta Falcons (4-10) are already eliminated and they come from another embarrassing loss after giving away a 17-point lead against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Matt Ryan is not feeling comfortable enough, and Todd Gurley has been a bust. The Falcons are already thinking about next season.

Atlanta is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games played in December.

Patrick Mahomes is the best NFL QB. Period. The Kansas City Chiefs (13-1) just beat the New Orleans Saints and they could clinch the AFC No. 1 seed with a victory. Mahomes has too many weapons at his disposal, including Le’Veon Bell, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill. Rookie RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be out for the rest of the regular season, but they hope to have him back for the postseason.

The Chiefs are 0-5-1 ATS in their last six games played on a Sunday.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Atlanta Falcons vs Kansas City Chiefs matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Chicago Bears (-2½)

    VS

    Jacksonville Jaguars

    December 27, 1:00pm ET

Believe it or not, Mitchell Trubisky and the Chicago Bears (7-7) still have a chance to grab a playoff spot. With Trubisky under center, the Bears won their last two games and scored 33+ points in each. RB David Montgomery has been awesome lately, but the defense needs to play better in order to compete against tougher teams.

The Bears are 8-3 SU in their last 11 games played in December.

Thanks to the New York Jets victory against the Los Angeles Rams, the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-13) now own the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, which means they could select Clemson’s QB Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars haven’t won since Week 1. Imagine RB James Robinson alongside Trevor Lawrence for next season, that could be pretty special and that’s why the Jaguars’ have no reason to win.

Jacksonville are 0-6 SU in their last six games at home.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Chicago Bears vs Jacksonville Jaguars matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Cincinnati Bengals

    VS

    Houston Texans (-9)

    December 27, 1:00pm ET

The Cincinnati Bengals (3-10-1) shocked everybody after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers. They did it with Ryan Finley under center and with a great performance from veteran RB Giovani Bernard. Nevertheless, the Bengals are already thinking about next season; having a good draft pick could help them in order to protect QB Joe Burrow a lot better.

The Bengals are 0-5 SU in their last five games on the road.

The Houston Texans (4-10) are already eliminated, but Deshaun Watson deserves better, including to finish the season strong with a couple of victories. With WR Will Fuller suspended, Keke Coutee has been the Texans’ No. 1 receiver, and he has been playing well, but he needs to be more consistent. We can say it, RB David Johnson has been a bust and they need to have a more balanced offense in order to compete.

The Texans are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games played on a Sunday.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Cincinnati Bengals vs Houston Texans matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • New York Giants

    VS

    Baltimore Ravens (-12 ½)

    December 27, 1:00pm ET

The New York Giants (5-9) are still in the hunt for a playoff spot, but they have been really bad recently. QB Daniel Jones has been struggling with injuries, and veteran Colt McCoy has been under center. McCoy should be the starter next Sunday. He should be worried, because the Baltimore Ravens defense is one of the best in the league (allows just 20.5 points per game).

The Giants are 3-8 SU in their last 11 games played in December.

Apparently, the best version of the Baltimore Ravens (9-5) is back. Lamar Jackson has been playing very well; he even threw a TD pass to veteran Dez Bryant, who’s regaining some confidence and rhythm, just in time to make a push for the Lombardi Trophy. Right now, the Ravens are on the outside looking in, and that’s why they are in a must-win situation. Baltimore needs the Miami Dolphins to lose at least one game, while they themselves cannot afford any losses.

The Ravens are 4-1 SU in their last five games played in Week 16.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our New York Giants vs Baltimore Ravens matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Cleveland Browns (-10 ½)

    VS

    New York Jets

    December 27, 1:00pm ET

Believe it or not, the Cleveland Browns (10-4) are still fighting for the AFC North title with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lately, the entire offense has been great, but kudos to Nick Chubb, who has scored at least one rushing touchdown in their last four games. The Browns need to win, but they also need the Steelers to lose against the Colts.

Cleveland ia 5-2 SU in its last seven games when playing on the road against the New York Jets.

Yes, the Jets (1-13) come from their first victory of the season, but they are still the Jets. If you’re looking for a win streak, look elsewhere. The defense has been playing very well recently, but the offense tends to struggle. Last week, veteran RB Frank Gore carried the load, but the Browns defense is very good against the running game.

The Jets are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played in December.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Cleveland Browns vs New York Jets matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Denver Broncos

    VS

    Los Angeles Chargers (-3)

    December 27, 4:05pm ET

The Denver Broncos (5-9) are already eliminated, but QB Drew Lock needs a couple of good games to convince everybody that he can be the guy that they have been looking for since Peyton Manning left. He has the weapons, including Philip Lindsay, Melvin Gordon, Jerry Jeudy, K.J. Hamler, Noah Fant, Tim Patrick and Courtland Sutton (injured), but he needs to be better consistently.

The Broncos are 2-4 SU in their last six games played in Week 16, but they already beat the Chargers this season (31-30).

The Los Angeles Chargers (5-9) are already eliminated, but that didn’t prevent them from beating the Las Vegas Raiders last Thursday Night. Rookie QB Justin Herbert has been a lights out, but he needs more protection.

The Chargers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against an opponent from the AFC.

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Denver Broncos vs Los Angeles Chargers matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Philadelphia Eagles (-6)

    VS

    Dallas Cowboys

    December 27, 4:25pm ET

Rookie QB Jalen Hurts has been amazing, and HC Doug Pederson already said that he’s going to be their starting QB against the Dallas Cowboys. Yes, the Eagles just lost against the Arizona Cardinals, but Hurts threw for more than 300 yards and scored four total touchdowns. TE Zach Ertz is back and he should be his No. 1 target.

The Eagles are 0-5 ATS in their last five games on the road.

The Dallas Cowboys (5-9) still have a chance to grab a playoff spot. Last week, they won despite not having Ezekiel Elliott on the field, and the defense has been playing better. At this point, Tony Pollard looks like the better back for Dallas. Andy Dalton’s experience should be an advantage at this point. They are in a must-win situation.

The Cowboys are 12-5 SU in their last 17 games played in December, but they already lost against the Eagles this season (23-9).

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.

  • Los Angeles Rams

    VS

    Seattle Seahawks (-2)

    December 27, 4:25pm ET

The Los Angeles Rams (9-5) come from an embarrassing loss against the New York Jets. That defeat puts them in a must-win situation against the Seattle Seahawks (10-4). QB Jared Goff needs to be more consistent. RB Cam Akers has been sensational, so maybe he should carry more of the load.

The Rams are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games on the road.

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks depend only on themselves in order to win the NFC West. Wilson has been great in most games, but lately he has been out of sync with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

The Seahawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games in December. The Rams already beat the Seahawks this season (23-16).

Get in-depth pre-game analysis at our Los Angeles Rams vs New York Jets matchup page, as well as the latest team & player news, stats, injury & weather reports, and NFL Week 16 odds.
