Head-to-Head
This is a two-week turnaround divisional rematch, as these two met the Sunday before last. In that game, the teams scored 44 points in the first half, making the no-doubt over — the total was 50 — die a painful death when the only second-half points came on an Indianapolis Colts’ safety. The Colts won and covered that one as 3½-point favorites, 26-20.

Actually had to double check and, yes, the Houston Texans were a small favorite coming into this game against the Chicago Bears. The point-spread saw two-way action for the week leading up to the game, with Houston as high as a 2½-point favorite, and as low as 1½. (Some heavy action did come for the Bears just before kickoff, and Houston closed as a one-point fave.) The total opened 46, dropped to 44½, and then was bet back up to 46½ at kickoff.
The Texans allowed an 80-yard opening-play run from David Montgomery for a touchdown and, to be fair, that’s where it ended. On his way to getting sacked six times, Deshaun Watson did fight for a second-quarter touchdown to make it 14-7. It didn’t matter, as Houston gave up four first-half touchdowns and a sack, heading to the locker room down 7-30 at the half.
The Bears took their foot off the gas in the second half, and were satisfied with two field more goals. Houston couldn’t help nudge the total to the over in the end, turning the ball over twice on downs and fumbling away a punt recovery in the fourth quarter, finally losing 7-36.
Not strictly NFL news related, but on the team’s Tuesday day off, Deshaun Watson opened a Lefty’s Cheesesteaks franchise he bought. Just getting ready for the offseason.

Early bettors faded the Indianapolis Colts, taking the 3-point opening point spread on the Las Vegas Raiders down to 2½. Markets played both sides of that number, with the vig moving between dog and favorite. The total took money to the over, after it opened at 50½ and closed at 52.
The Colts decided the best way to aid their backup punter — while the regular guy, Rigoberto Sanchez, heals up from his cancer surgery — was to beat the Raiders into a pulp so badly that backup Brad Allen only had to punt once. To be fair, the Colts only led by 20-17 at the half, and proceeded to mangle the Raiders in the second half, ending them with a 133-yard rushing differential and a plus-three turnover differential.
The over cashed with over nine minutes left, and still had room for a field goal, a Khari Willis Pick-Six adding to the Colts’ 17-point lead at the time, and a Derek Carr garbage-time touchdown — all of which led to a 44-27 final that slightly flatters the Raiders’ beating.
Betting on the Game
Point Spread
Either the point spread is more or less in line, or the markets are waiting on injury reports, as this game has only taken light two-way action and hasn’t moved from it’s open. Indianapolis is giving a touchdown, and they flashed -7 (-115) for a short while before going back to -7 flat. It’s already a teaser candidate before it gets to 7½.
Moneyline
Same goes for the moneyline, pricing the Colts at -325. It hasn’t moved from that number, which has the Texans at a buy-back price of +265.
Over/Under
At least the markets had some opinion on the total, which opened at 52½. Tuesday morning brought enough money to the under to bring the total down to the key number of 51. It’s an interesting position considering the Colts’ have a number of outstanding question marks on defense after last Sunday, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it bounce back up.
