Three will be a magic number when the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams meet in their NFC Wild-Card showdown on Saturday. With the longtime NFC West division rivals set for their third meeting of the season, there’s only one question that needs to be answered. Who’s coming out on top to advance to the NFC Divisional round?

Will Jared Goff be under center for a Rams team that struggled down the stretch run? Are Russell Wilson and the momentum-laden Seahawks virtual sportsbook betting locks to take care of business at home?

With the third and final leg of this NFC West trilogy just days away, let’s find out which team is offering the best online betting value in what looks like a street brawl just waiting to happen!

First though, let’s look at all of the wild card NFL playoff odds.

      Rams   +3½ +155 42½ 20
Seahawks   -3½ -175           42½           23

Head-to-Head

The Rams have won four of the last six meetings and six of the last 10 meetings in this NFC West rivalry, but Seattle has managed to get the split over the last four meetings. More importantly, the Seahawks have gone 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games against LA while the Home team has gone a consistent 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall.

Los Angeles Rams

Betting Record

Team Record ATS Home ATS Away ATS Fave ATS Dog ATS O/U
Rams 10-6 9-7 5-3 4-4 6-5 3-2 4-12

Next game: Winner faces winner of Chicago vs New Orleans wild card matchup.

Last Game

The Rams snapped a two-game losing streak and reached the playoffs by getting past the Arizona Cardinals 18-7 in Week 17. Backup quarterback John Wolford replaced an injured Goff and had a pretty solid NFL debut by passing for 231 yards while adding 56 rushing yards to become the first player in NFL history to throw for 200 and rush for 50 in their debut.

Still, the big question heading into their Wild-Card clash is whether Goff will be under center after suffering a fractured right thumb in the Rams’ 20-9 Week 16 loss at Seattle on Dec. 27. Goff had surgery the following day and is questionable for this matchup, though head coach Sean McVay would not elaborate on who his starter will be.

“Jared is our starting quarterback — the reality is that he had a thumb surgery,” McVay said. “We’re monitoring that every single day, and that’s something we’re taking a day at a time, but the anticipation is both those guys are getting themselves ready to go.”

Stats Pack

The Rams finished the regular season ranked 11th in total offense, 13th in passing, 10th in rushing and 23rd in scoring (23.3 ppg). Defensively, LA  finished first in fewest points, total yards, yards passing, touchdown passes and first downs allowed.

“We’re happy with what we accomplished as a unit,” Rams defensive end Morgan Fox said. “It was something that was in the back of our minds. Everything in the forefront was winning games and trying to be the best team that we could be, but it is a cool achievement. I think everyone kind of saw and noticed it, but everyone is focused on Seattle and winning everything. We’re pumped about it, but it’s not done.”

Trends

It certainly doesn’t bode well for the Rams that they’ve been limited to 20 points or less in each of their last three games and four times in their last six games overall.

NFL Injury Report

While Jared Goff is questionable for Saturday’s matchup, veteran left tackle Andrew Whitworth is set to return from a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered against the Seahawks in their NFL Week 10 matchup on November 15.

Seattle Seahawks

Betting Record

Team Record ATS Home ATS Away ATS Fave ATS Dog ATS O/U
Seahawks   12-4 8-8 6-2 2-6 7-7 1-1 7-9

Next game: Winner faces winner of Chicago vs New Orleans wild card matchup.

Last Game

Seattle won four straight and six of its final seven, including a hard-fought 26-23 win over NFC West rival the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Russell Wilson passed for 181 yards and  threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to Tyler Lockett to help the Seahawks rally from a 10-point, second-half deficit. Lockett finished with a franchise-record 100 catches.

“I’m really fired up that we continue to be a finishing club and we find ways to do it,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said.

Wilson showed his leadership by changing a play in the final minute to help wide receiver David Moore reach a $100,,000 bonus by getting his 35th catch of the season.

“It’s a blessing to be able to help family, his daughter and all that stuff. So we wanted to get him that catch, and we were able to dial that up for him that last play,” Wilson said

Stats Pack

Seattle finished the regular season ranked 17th in total offense, 16th in passing, 12th in rushing and 8th in scoring (28.7 ppg). Defensively, the Seahawks finished the regular season ranked 22nd overall, 31st against the pass, a stellar 5th against the run and 15th in points allowed (23.2 ppg).

Here are the odds to win the 2020 NFL MVP award!

Trends

The Seahawks held five of their final six opponents to 20 points or less and would have made it six straight had they not allowed San Francisco to score a touchdown  with 23 seconds remaining in their Week 17 win on Sunday.

“Where we were at the beginning of season to where we are at now is night and day, but we’ve got to keep it up,” Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner said.

Injury Report

Star safety Jamal Adams, who set an NFL record for sacks by a defensive back with 9.5, is questionable after suffering a left shoulder injury in the second half of the regular-season finale. Adams and defensive tackle Jarran Reed (oblique), who was second on the team with 6.5 sacks, have missed practice time this week.

Betting on the Game

With the Rams struggling to score and Seattle playing lights out defense the last several weeks, I wouldn’t expect LA to put a bunch of points on the board.

Here is a look at the latest odds to win Super Bowl LV!

Moneyline

The Rams are 5-2 SU in the last seven meetings against Seattle, but just 3-13 SU in their last 16 road dates against the Seahawks. Russell Wilson & Co. have gone 6-1 SU over their last seven games and 7-1 SU in their last eight home games.

Check out the value-packed NFL playoff special odds!

Point Spread

The Rams have gone 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games against their NFC counterparts and a bankroll-boosting 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games against their NFC West division rivals.

Seattle has gone 6-1 ATS in its last seven Wild-Card games, 4-1 ATS in its last five home games and a consistent 15-6-2 ATS in their last 23 games following an ATS loss. Simply put, I love the value Seattle is offering as a manageable 3.5-point home favorite.

Over/Under

The Under is 4-0 in the Rams’ last four games and 6-1 in their last seven games following an SU win. The Under is 5-1 in LA’s last six games against their NFC West division rivals and 8-2 in their last 10 games against their NFC counterparts.

Let’s look at every playoff team’s Over/Under analysis!

The Under is 5-0 in Seattle’s last five games following an ATS loss and 4-0 in the Seahawks’ last four games as a home favorite. The Under is a near-perfect 7-1 in Seattle’s last eight games and 6-1 in their last seven games against their NFC counterparts. Last, but not least, the Under is 15-7 in the last 22 meetings.
