It’s the biggest question of the NFL offseason. Has Houston Texas superstar signal-caller Deshaun Watson played his final game in H-Town after formally requesting a trade this week? If so, where will the gifted dual-threat star call home in 2021?
With rumors about Watson’s potential landing spot flying fast and furious right now, let’s examine the NFL special odds on where Watson could suit up next season.

Houston is the sportsbook betting prohibitive favorite, but Watson will not be back in H-Town in 2021! The Texans are heading into a rebuild under new head coach David Culley and the franchise just won’t be ready to win any time soon. That fact, combined with Houston’s pitiful front office management, make Watson a virtual certainty to take his talents elsewhere this offseason.

According to a recent report, Watson’s top-two preferred destinations are the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins – in that order. Why Watson would want to play for a dysfunctional Jets organization is beyond me, but I guess it could happen if this rumor is true.
Watson is reportedly fond of new Jets head coach Robert Saleh and wanted the Texans to interview him for their open head coaching position. The Jets have the second overall pick in the draft and I guess they could use that pick to acquire Watson. However, I suspect New York will keep the pick and roll the dice with incumbent starter Sam Darnold.
As far as the Dolphins are concerned, I think Miami could be a real online betting player in the Watson sweepstakes. The Fins have multiple first-round picks in this year’s draft, including Houston’s No. 3 overall pick. Miami could trade young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and picks to get Watson and I believe that is a deal Houston would go for. In addition to Miami and New York, I think it’s quite possible that Watson could legitimately end up playing for a handful of other teams.
Check out the Super Bowl 55 ATS and O/U stats for both teams.
San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers become an instant Super Bowl favorite again if they land Watson. It’s really that simple. Frisco has an elite defense and plenty of talent at the skill positions. The addition of Watson is a no-brainer for San Francisco – if they can move Jimmy Garoppolo that is.
Washington Football Team
The Washington Football Team had a great first season under head coach Ron Rivera and only needs a quality quarterback to become a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Owner Daniel Snyder is known for spending big in free agency – and there is no bigger free agent than Watson this offseason.
Watson would join a Chicago Bears team that has a really solid defense but real issues under center. Could it be that Chicago pursues Watson after infamously passing up on him in the 2017 NFL Draft in favor of Mitch Trubisky? Chicago needs Watson, but he doesn’t need them. I don’t see it happening.
New Orleans Saints
I’ve got the New Orleans Saints going with Jameis Winston as their starter next season. Sure, Sean Payton would love to have Watson as his starter, but New Orleans is cap-strapped and likely to go with a more financially-friendly signing.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots and Texans’ front offices have a lot of ties, but I can’t see Watson wanting to play for the same guy that foolishly dissed Tom Brady. I’m sorry, but Bill Belichick and Watson just don’t add up.
The Denver Broncos have a solid defense and they clearly need a quarterback to replace the inconsistent Drew Lock. However, the Broncos aren’t a very attractive organization for a star as big as Watson. Denver’s head coaching situation isn’t the best either with Vic Fangio going 12-20 in two seasons.
Brady vs Mahomes Super Bowl 55 analysis.
If Ben Roethlisberger hangs it up, Pittsburgh could be a player in the Watson free-for-all. However, the Steelers generally don’t make huge splashes in free agency and I’m not sure they could afford what Watson will demand on his next contract. I don’t see Watson ever suiting up for Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I could go with a bunch of ‘new-age’ acronyms that equate to the lunacy of this move actually happening, but I won’t. I’ll simply go with an old-school hahaha. The Detroit Lions have absolutely no chance of landing Deshaun Watson.
In the end, I’m going with Miami, the New York Jets, San Francisco and Washington as my top four picks to land Deshaun Watson!
