Sunday night couldn’t be a bigger primetime matchup at this point of the NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs will be in Las Vegas for an AFC West showdown against the Raiders.
The Chiefs are in first place in the AFC West with a record of 8-1, while the Raiders are in second at a record of 6-3. Despite this, the one blemish on the Chiefs record this season was thanks to the Raiders back in Week 5.
Las Vegas defeated Kansas City by a score of 40-32 in that contest. All this should make for an exciting rematch when you’re online betting for Sunday night.
Game: Chiefs (8-1) vs Raiders (6-3) Location: Allegiant Stadium Time: 8:20 PM ET Television: NBC |
NFL Betting Lines
Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Over/Under | Team Total |
Chiefs | -7½ | -340 | 56½ | 31½ |
Raiders | +7½ | +280 | 56½ | 24½ |
Moneyline: Chiefs -340 | Raiders +280
The Chiefs slipped up last time against Las Vegas. Kansas City is better in all areas of the game, but this doesn’t mean that it will have an easy time. The Raiders have shown that they can beat the Chiefs so +280 could be a solid risk bet. Despite this, it’s tough to beat a team twice, especially when it’s Kansas City.
Pick: Chiefs to win
Point Spread: Chiefs -7½
The NFL odds putting this at a 7½-point spread makes this bet interesting. The Chiefs would have to win by eight to cover. In traditional football scoring, they’ll most likely have to win by 10 for this bet to hit. They have won by eight or more in six of their eight wins this season. The ATS statistics favor them on the road and as favorites against the Raiders at home and as dogs.
Pick: Chiefs to cover
Over/Under: 56½ points
The Raiders go over much more than the Chiefs. They’re 7-2 on the year against the over/under while the Chiefs are 4-5. This is no surprise, though, because it’s tough to create a lot of points when you have a solid defense.
The Chiefs are second in the league in scoring, but to go over, a team usually needs help from the opposing offense. Las Vegas has a strong offense if Derek Carr is clicking. He was fantastic against Kansas City in Week 5, and he should rise to the occasion again. The teams combined for 78 points in their last matchup.
Pick: Over 56½
Final score: Chiefs 35, Raiders 24
Props Talk for Chiefs vs Raiders
This should be a game where the Chiefs put the weight of their team on the back of Mahomes. If Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Le’Veon Bell can contribute, that would make the unit stronger. However, this isn’t necessary for the Chiefs to have success.
The team will ride or die with Mahomes, and he has been fantastic all season long, throwing only one interception.
Let’s take a look at some NFL betting props for the game.
Josh Jacobs Total Rushing Yards: Over 75½
Josh Jacobs gets a ton of carries, and that is key for yards. Jacobs is a heavy hitter but also has speed if he can get into the open field. The Chiefs have the 29th-ranked rushing defense in the league, so I believe Jacobs will have a huge night. He’s gone over this number in five games this season, including Week 5 against the Chiefs, which is something to consider when making your NFL picks.
Will Patrick Mahomes throw an interception? Yes +170
Mahomes has one interception, which came against the Raiders. The quarterback has to make another mistake sooner or later. The Raiders’ defense picked off Drew Lock four times last week. Lock and Mahomes are not on the same planet talent-wise, but this can only improve the confidence of the Raiders secondary.
Longest Field Goal Scored in Game: Over 48½ yards -115
Allegiant Stadium is a dome, which takes weather out of the question when it comes to kicking. Las Vegas kicker Daniel Carson is second in the league in total points. His long on the year is from 54, and he is 4-for-4 from 50-plus yards. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is 3-for-3 on the year from 50-plus yards with a long of 58 yards.
