Okay BetUS NFL betting faithful, after winning their respective 2020 NFL regular season openers last weekend, the revamped Washington Football Team and improved Arizona Cardinals will both be looking to remain unbeaten when they square off in their Week 2 battle of NFC playoff hopefuls in Week 2. Now, let’s take an in-depth look at both teams.
|Game: Washington (1-0) at Arizona (1-0)
Location: State Farm Stadium, Glendale, AZ
Time: 4:05 PM ET
Moneyline: Washington +250 – Arizona -300
Washington got after Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz in Week 1 by sacking the veteran signal-caller eight times and picking him off twice. Still, The Washington Football Team will likely have a more difficult time in getting to Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray. The second-year, 2018 Heisman winner passed for 230 yards and one touchdown while adding 91 rushing yards and another score in the Cardinals’ 24-20 Week 1 upset of NFC champion San Francisco. Murray hooked up with Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins 14 times for 151 yards in their first game together in Week 1 after Arizona basically stole him from the Houston Texans in a stunning offseason trade with the Texans.
Pick: Cardinals to win
Point Spread: Arizona -7
While Washington won and cashed in as a 5.5-point road dog in their opener against Philadelphia last weekend, the newly renamed Washington Football Team closed out the 2019 campaign with three consecutive SU and ATS losses last season. On the flip side of the coin, Arizona has won three of their last four dating back to last season while going 3-0-1 ATS along the way. The Cards are 5-3-2 ATS over their last 10 games and 4-2-1 ATS over their last seven games against their NFC counterparts.
Pick: Cardinals to cover
Over/Under: 46½ points
Washington has been limited to 17 points or less in five of their last 10 games dating back to last season. The Under is an unblemished 5-0 in Washington’s last five games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 in their last seven road games.
Arizona has scored 27 points or less in nine of their last 10 games while putting an identical 24 points on the board in each of their last two games dating back to their regular-season finale last season. The Under is 8-3 in Arizona’s last 11 home games against a team with a winning road record, 5-2 in their last seven games following an SU win and an identical 5-2 in their last seven games as a favorite.
Pick: Under 46½
Final Score: Arizona 27 Washington 17
Props Talk Washington at Arizona
Washington was down 17-0 against Philadelphia in Week 1 before shutting down the BIrds by scoring 27 unanswered points. Arizona both fell into a 10-0 hole against the 49ers in their Week 1 opener. However, Arizona’s offense now looks far more dangerous than it did a year ago thanks to the arrival of Deandre Hopkins while Washington still has some kinks to work out as young quarterback Dwayne Haskins continues to learn on the fly.
First To Score
While I like the Cards to put points on the board first in this Week 2 matchup, I expect Washington’s defense to be much improved in 2020 under no-nonsense head coach Ron Rivera.
First Score of the Game
Any Other Score – Ev
I expect the Cardinals to get on the board first with a field goal from Zane Gonzalez who nailed a 56-yarder against the Niners last week. Arizona should be good for at least three touchdowns, seeing as that’s how many they put on the board against San Francisco’s tough defense in Week 1.
Total TDs In The Game
Over 4½ TDs -120
Under 4½ TDs -110
While Washington scored three touchdowns in their Week 1 stunner against Philadelphia, I’m going with The Football Team to put two TDs on the board in Week 2. They won’t harass the Cardinals’ Kyler Murray into the type of dismal, turnover-prone performance they did against Carson Wentz in their opener.
