The NFL playoff race is heating up, and specifically, the AFC has been worth watching through the first 10 weeks of the season. While the Pittsburgh Steelers remain undefeated at 9-0, the Kansas City Chiefs (8-1) are hot on their heels, and both teams will likely be popular for those betting online in Week 11.
After the Steelers and Chiefs, there’s a logjam of three-loss teams, and while the Buffalo Bills are 7-3, they’re off this week. The Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, and Tennessee Titans will all have the chance to square their records up with Buffalo’s.
We’re going to take a look at the three best favorite bets of Week 11 from the AFC, each of which comes from the list of top units listed above.
The Philadelphia Eagles are doing their all in an effort to find their identity, but a Week 10 loss to the New York Giants, which dropped them to 3-5-1, won’t help with that. Beyond that, the Eagles are 1-3 on the road. Now they travel to take on the six-win Cleveland Browns, who have impressed with a 4-1 mark on their home field this year.
Although the Browns struggled mightily on the defensive side of the ball early in the season, it was their defense that stepped up in a Week 10 victory over the Houston Texans. The Browns won 10-7, and while the offense wasn’t stellar, the defense showed enough to give bettors reason to worry about backing the Eagles.
When making your NFL picks, Cleveland is the play on its home field here against an Eagles group that doesn’t appear to be poised to turn a corner any time in the immediate future.
The Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans is one of the better NFL matchups of top teams in the AFC based on record, but both sides have dealt with their fair share of struggles in recent weeks. Specifically, the Titans have dropped three of four games, including a 34-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts last week and a 31-20 setback to the Cincinnati Bengals two weeks prior.
On the other side, the Ravens fell to the New England Patriots on the road and the Pittsburgh Steelers two weeks before that. For the Ravens, neither of their losses jumped off the board as overly bad. The Titans may have some cause for concern, especially on the road against quarterback Lamar Jackson and company.
Tennessee’s defense is allowing 287.3 passing yards per game this year, a number which bodes well for Jackson and the Ravens. Looking at Baltimore, its defense has given up a modest 109.7 yards per game on the ground, which could point to a potentially tough day for running back Derrick Henry.
Last but certainly not least when looking at this week’s NFL betting is the unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers against the 1-8 Jacksonville Jaguars. Although Jacksonville nearly pulled off an upset against the Green Bay Packers in Week 10, its struggles on both sides of the ball are well-documented this season.
The Jaguars have allowed 420.7 yards per game defensively. Although their offense has been decent, a large chunk of the stats has come while the team plays from behind.
The Steelers may be on the road in this game, but their offense has been firing on all cylinders, averaging 30.1 points per game and even defeating other top teams in the AFC throughout the early stages of the season. With quarterback Ben Roethlisberger putting together a strong season and his pass-catchers thriving, they should have little trouble against the Jaguars in Week 11.
