After losing two of their last three games many began to doubt AC Milan, but Stefano Pioli’s team crushed Juventus in a crucial match to gain access to next season’s UEFA Champions League. Meanwhile, Inter Milan celebrated the title by crushing Sampdoria.
Let’s take a look at what happened in the last Italian Serie A fixture and how the sports betting odds for what’s next are set.
Italian Serie A Breakdown
AC Milan went to Turin and defeated Juventus 0-3; Zlatan Ibrahimović returned to the starting lineup, but Brahim Diaz, Ante Rebic and Fikayo Tomori scored the goals. AC Milan climbed to third place with 72 points, three more than Juventus, who now sits in fifth place.
“We all have to get out of this together. There must always be pride in wearing this shirt and certain performances must not be there. I had a different project in mind, I tried to work according to certain principles, at times we had to adapt, but I am convinced that I have an excellent team at my disposal. If something went wrong, I take responsibility for it,” said Juventus’ manager Andre Pirlo after the game.
Atalanta defeated Parma 5-2 to remain in second place with 72 points; they own the advantage over AC Milan after beating them 0-3 in January, but they’ll collide again in the last fixture.
Napoli also won, 1-4 against Spezia, and climbed to fourth place with 70 points. They haven’t lost in their last five games.
Inter Milan crushed Sampdoria 5-1 in a redemption match for Alexis Sanchez, who scored twice. Inter now has 85 points, and they could finish the season with 94.
We won’t have to wait long to watch some more Italian Serie A action. Fixture 36 begins on Tuesday with Napoli vs Udinese; Napoli comes in as the huge favorite at the Italian Serie A Odds with a -300 price, while they’re -155 to beat Fiorentina on Sunday.
Atalanta will play host to Benevento on Wednesday and will be on the road against Genoa on Saturday; both as the favorite. AC Milan visits Torino on Wednesday and received Cagliari on Sunday; expect some fireworks because Torino and Cagliari are trying to get away from the relegation zone.
Juventus needs to beat Sassuolo on Wednesday and Inter Milan on Saturday, otherwise they can say bye-bye to the UEFA Champions League. They offer a -160 price against Sassuolo and +125 against Inter.
Prior to their match against Juventus, Inter will face AS Roma on Wednesday with the odds on their side -145. Head over to the Soccer Props to predict the Correct Score, Half time and full-time winner, and more.
At the Bottom
Next season, Crotone and Parma will play in the Italian Serie B. With three games left, none can leave the relegation zone.
Now, the question is who’ll be joining them? Benevento has 31 points, three less than Spezia, but even Cagliari (35), Torino (35), Genoa (36) and Fiorentina (38) could be the answer, although they would have to lose all their remaining games.
Midweek, Cagliari will play host to Fiorentina as the slight favorite +160; Fiorentina can get out of the danger zone with a victory. Spezia +170 will face a more accessible challenge against Sampdoria.
On Saturday, Spezia will play host to Torino (+135) while Benevento (-175) will face Crotone on Sunday.
