La Liga Breakdown

Title Race Down to Three

Atletico Madrid defeated Elche 1-0 thanks to a goal from Marcos Llorente. Fidel missed a penalty kick that could have been the tie for Elche at the last minute. Now, Atletico Madrid has 76 points, two more than Real Madrid and Barcelona, who also won.

Real Madrid defeated Osasuna 2-0 with goals from Eder Militao and Casemiro, that’s right, no goals from Karim Benzema, weird, right? What’s not weird is that Barcelona defeated Valencia 3-2 thanks to a couple of goals from Lionel Messi, who now leads the league with 28.

This Saturday, Barcelona will play host to Atletico Madrid, and the winner will rise as the new favorite to win the title. Despite being in first place, Atletico comes in as the underdog at +350, and the most predicted score is 2-1 favoring Barcelona, a prediction that’s offering a +700 price at the latest Soccer Props.

Real Madrid will play on Sunday, at home, against none other Sevilla, who sits in fourth place with 70 points after losing 1-0 against Athletic Bilbao. Sevilla could get back on track with a victory at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium, but they would also need a draw between Barca and Atletico.

Zinedine Zidane’s team dominates the current line +105, but the over 2½ goals looks more interesting, because five of their last eight encounters went over 2½ goals.

Real Madrid will climb to first place with a victory plus a draw or a Barcelona victory at Camp Nou. “Los Blancos” own the advantage over Barca after beating them twice.

UEFA Europa League Tickets

Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Real Betis are not in the title mix, but they’re in the UEFA Europa League mix. That’s right, the fifth and sixth place will win a ticket to assist to the competition next season.

Right now, the tickets belong to Real Sociedad and Villarreal with 53 and 52 points, but Real Betis is just one point behind. This weekend, Real Sociedad comes in as the favorite -190 at the La Liga Odds to beat Elche, same as Villarreal against Celta de Vigo and Real Betis against Granada.

Dead Last

Believe it or not, all three relegation zone teams still have a chance, including Eibar, who’s dead last with 26 points, but defeated Deportivo Alaves 3-0 last weekend. S.D. Huesca (30 points) also won, 1-0 against Real Sociedad, while Elche (30 points) lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid.

The thing is Getafe, Deportivo Alaves and Valladolid are just four and one point away from the relegation zone, so this could also change in an instant.

As we already mentioned, this weekend Elche +675 will face Real Sociedad; Eibar +275 will be on the road against Getafe, S.D. Huesca +120 will pay a visit to Cadiz and Deportivo Alaves will play host to Levante +280.

In short, all games are crucial!
