The season still has four games to go, but Inter Milan no longer needs them. Antonio Conte’s team already won the title, but what remains to be seen is who else qualifies for the UEFA Champions League.
Let’s take a look at what happened in the last Italian Serie A fixture and how the sports betting odds for what’s next are set.
Italian Serie A Breakdown
Inter Milan defeated Crotone 2-0 and took advantage of Atalanta’s draw against Sassuolo to win the Italian Serie A title, ending Juventus streak after nine straight titles. Inter still could surpass the 90 points mark, but that won’t be necessary.
Antonio Conte’s team has scored 74 goals, second-best in the league, and allowed just 29, best defensive record in the league. Striker Romelu Lukaku could fight for the golden boot, but he’s six goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo (27/21).
Inter will face Sampdoria this Saturday as a huge favorite -220 at the Italian Serie A Odds, but don’t be surprised if they relax a little.
“We are not really thinking about the future yet, because we want to take our time to enjoy this amazing triumph: at the end of the day, we only won the league a few days ago,” said Sporting Director Piero Ausilio to the press.
Now, the consolation prize is to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Atalanta, Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, Lazio and AS Roma still have a chance.
Atalanta sits in second place with 69 points, same as Juventus and AC Milan, but Atalanta owns a better goal differential. Napoli comes next with 67 points, then Lazio with 64, and last but not least AS Roma with 55, who earlier this week announced Jose Mourinho will be their manager starting next season.
This weekend, Atalanta will be on the road against Parma as huge favorites -400, while Juventus and AC Milan will collide at Juventus Stadium; the home side dominates the betting lines with a -135 price.
Meanwhile, Napoli comes in as the favorite -190 to beat Spezia, same as Lazio -115 against Fiorentina, and AS Roma -290 against Crotone.
What about the Italian Cup?
Inter Milan is no longer competing here, which means Atalanta and Juventus still have a chance to win some gold this season. The domestic cup Grand Finale will be on May 19, and Juventus comes as the slight favorite with a +140 price at the Italian Cup Odds.
Keep in mind that Atalanta has three straight games without losing against Juventus.
It’s just a matter of time for Crotone and Parma to be officially relegated. In fact, if Benevento beats Cagliari this weekend, that’s it.
Benevento sits in eighteenth place with 31 points, while Parma has 20 and Crotone 18. Benevento could climb out of the relegation zone by beating Cagliari, who sits in seventeenth place with 32 points, but Cagliari comes in as the slight favorite +125.
Genoa, Fiorentina, Torino and Spezia are still in danger, but they all depend on themselves to save the season.
