Since joining Manchester City in the 2016-17 season, manager Pep Guardiola has led them to the English Premier League title twice, and curiously enough, a third one could become a reality this Sunday thanks to Liverpool, one of City’s biggest rivals.
Let’s take a look at what happened in the last English Premier League fixture and how the sports betting odds for what’s coming are set.
English Premier Breakdown
Having a great season, like Manchester United has had, is not enough to beat Manchester City. The “Red Devils” own a 19-10-4 record, while the “Citizens” own a 24-5-4 record, creating a 10-point gap in between.
City’s last English Premier League match was on April 21, defeating Aston Villa 2-1. Since then, they won the Carabao Cup and started facing PSG in the UEFA Champions League Semifinals. Now, their next domestic opponent is Crystal Palace, and the “Citizens” could be crowned as champions with a victory plus a Manchester United loss, who’ll be facing Liverpool.
The “Citizens” game will be on Saturday, and they come in as huge favorites -275, while Manchester United vs Liverpool will be on Sunday, and the “Reds” come in as the slight favorites.
United is close to securing second place, but they need to defeat Liverpool in order to keep Leicester City at least five points behind. The “Foxes” will face Southampton this Friday, and they come in as the slight favorites +115 at the English Premier League Odds.
Chelsea and West Ham United complete the top five. The “Blues” defeated West Ham 1-0 last Saturday to climb to fourth place, and they are also trying to win the UEFA Champions League, where they’re facing Real Madrid in the semis.
This Saturday, Chelsea will play host to Fulham as a huge favorite -230, while West Ham will be on the road against Burnley, also as the favorite +110. The “Hammers” manager, David Moyes, was crowned as Manager of the Year at the London Football Awards.
Fighting for Europe
Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton could still grab a ticket for an international competition next year. Right now, West Ham United owns fifth place with 55 points, while Liverpool has 54, Tottenham 53, and Everton 52.
This Saturday, Everton will play host to Aston Villa, while Tottenham will play host to Sheffield United on Sunday. Neither should have any trouble winning as they come as huge favorites.
Nothing to Do
Sheffield United has nothing to do, they’re officially relegated. You can’t expect any different if you only won five of 33 games, right?
Albion and Fulham, 25 and 27 points, still have a chance, but they have to start winning now. Burnley, Southampton, Newcastle and Brighton are still in danger, but depend on themselves to save the season.
This weekend, Albion will be facing Wolverhampton in a more accessible match, the latest Soccer Props put on an +800 price on an Albion 1-0 victory, but the rest of them have a tough one: Fulham vs Chelsea, Sheffield United vs Tottenham, Brighton vs Leeds United, and Newcastle vs Arsenal.
