The FA Cup is down to two teams as London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium on Aug. 1 to win the oldest national football competition in the world.
England FA Cup Betting History
Arsenal has won 13 FA Cups in their history, more than any other team, and they have won six straight finals, including 2017 over Chelsea.
The Blues meanwhile have eight FA Cups in their trophy cabinet, most recently in 2018.
These teams have met twice this season in Premier League play with Chelsea winning 2-1 on Dec. 29 and splitting the points with a 2-2 draw on Jan. 21.
Last season each team won in Premier League play before Chelsea throttled the Gunners 4-1 May 19 in the Europa League championship, earning the coveted spot in Champions League play. Throughout their hotly-contested rivalry, they have met in the FA Cup 20 times with Arsenal winning nine, Chelsea five, and six draws, where Arsenal currently has the best England FA Cup odds.
Arsenal Outlook: Earn A Europa League Spot
The only path left for Arsenal to make it to Europe next year is to win this game and take the automatic spot into the Europa League. The Gunners currently sit 10th in the Premier League and have no chance of finishing top six. They are 5-1-1 against Chelsea in the FA Cup since 2001, including finals wins in 2002 and 2017.
Path to the Final
Arsenal entered the FA Cup in the third round and knocked off Leeds United 1-0 before winning at AFC Bournemouth 2-1 in the fourth-round. In the fifth-round, they won at Portsmouth 2-0 and got an extra-time goal from Dani Ceballos to win at Sheffield United 2-1 in the quarterfinals. They had very little of the possession but got two goals from Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang to upset Manchester City 2-0 in the semifinals.
Chelsea Outlook: Finish Strong
Chelsea has the chance to lift the FA Cup for the second time in three years and give former star Frank Lampard his first major trophy as a manager. Lampard won four FA Cups as a player for the Blues and undoubtedly has them on the brink of qualifying for next year’s Champions League as they sit in third place in the Premier League.
American Christian Pulisic should become the third US-born player to feature in a FA Cup final following John Harkes and Tim Howard.
Path to the Final
Chelsea joined the FA Cup in the third round with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest and a 2-1 fourth-round win at Hull City. Additionally, they upset Liverpool 2-0 in the fifth round and won at Leicester City 1-0 in the quarterfinals on a Ross Barkley goal.
The Blues looked fantastic against Manchester United in the semifinals with a 3-1 win behind goals from Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount, and a United own goal.
2020 England FA Cup Betting Betting Lines
- Chelsea +115 to win, -160 to lift the cup
- Arsenal +235 to win, +130 to lift the cup
- Draw +250
- Over/Under 2.5 goals (O -115, U -115)
Arsenal are a complete Jekyll and Hyde team with a 10th place finish in the EPL and an early exit in Europa League, but July wins over Liverpool and Manchester City. They will be desperate to win and have made the FA Cup their own invitational over the years.
But Chelsea is the better team, the deeper team, and the more consistent team. Look for the Blues to prevail at Wembley and take their odds at BetUS Sportsbook.
