Blaydes vs Lewis Betting Preview
Curtis Blaydes (14-2-0) is currently ranked as the second-best fighter in the heavyweight division and is on a four-fight winning streak. His most recent victory was a unanimous decision against Alexander Volkov in June.
Taking a dive into his fighting resume, it shows that he has made UFC news with 10 wins by knockout and four by decision. There are not a lot of first-round finishes, but he has more than several showings of a fights ending soon after the second round begins.
“Razor” strikes fairly accurately at 53% and has a grappling accuracy at 55%. He has been able to deliver 3.55 significant strikes a minute while taking on 1.73. This shows he can put up a nice volume of strikes before he ever receives one back.
Blaydes has a somewhat lower takedown defense at 33% but is slightly better with a significant strike defense at 57%. He also averages a slightly inflated stat of 6.98 takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time, even though he is aggressive with his takedowns.
Derrick Lewis (24-7-0) comes in right behind Blaydes as the fourth-ranked fighter in the heavyweight division, and he is also on a three-fight winning streak. His last bout was a knockout win against Aleksei Oleinik back in August.
Looking at his fighting resume, you will see that it shows him having 19 wins by knockout, one by submission, and four by decision. In addition, he has eight of his 19 knockouts ending by first-round finishes.
“The Black Beast” is about average for striking accuracy at 50% but has a fairly poor grappling accuracy at 26%. He lands a modest 2.64 significant strikes a minute and takes on 2.09. This is not much of a concern here, but his volume could be better offensively.
Lewis has some solid defense here, with a takedown defense coming in at 52 percent and a significant strike defense at 44 percent. He also has some ground time in his fights, with 0.54 takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time.

Blaydes vs Lewis Betting Preview Pick
These two top-five heavyweights look to impress in this matchup. They stack up great on paper, but that will not matter once they step into the octagon.
You can expect a lot of standup action here with this fight, which is leaning towards who is going to knock out the other fighter first. Even though Blaydes has aggressive takedowns, he still has an edge when it comes to striking and defending.
Lewis has more of a tendency to be able to end the fight early in the first round, with eight currently on his resume. However, Blaydes is not the type to hang around close enough in the first round to allow that to happen.
When doing your UFC betting, look for Blaydes to come alive in the second and headhunt. He has a great shot at a knockout after the first round, and then he can focus on a title bout.
Blaydes wins via TKO.
