The 2024 NFL season kicks off with an intriguing Week 1 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants. This game, scheduled for 1 PM ET on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, promises to be a compelling contest between two teams looking to start the season on a high note.

Giants Host Vikings in Week 1: Latest NFL Odds and Betting Tips

The New York Giants host the Minnesota Vikings in a pivotal Week 1 clash at MetLife Stadium, marking a new era for both teams. With Saquon Barkley’s departure and the Giants relying on a revamped rushing attack, their offense will look different. Meanwhile, the Vikings face a quarterback battle between Sam Darnold and JJ McCarthy after Kirk Cousins’ offseason move.

Vikings vs Giants Head To Head Record History

The Vikings and Giants have a competitive history, with the Vikings holding a slight 18-13-0 edge in their head-to-head matchups. Last season, the Giants finished with a 6-11 record, struggling with injuries and inconsistent play. Quarterback Daniel Jones suffered an ACL tear in Week 9, ending his season prematurely. The Vikings, on the other hand, ended the season with a 7-10 record. They faced a significant setback when quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles in Week 8, leading to his departure to the Atlanta Falcons.

Key Players and Matchups In This Week 1 MetLife Showdown

Quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones will be the focal points of this game. Darnold, who signed a one-year deal with the Vikings, is expected to start while rookie J.J. McCarthy develops. Jones, returning from injury, aims to lead the Giants’ offense effectively. The performance of these quarterbacks will be crucial in determining the game’s outcome.

Vikings vs Giants NFL Week 1: What To Expect

For bettors, the Giants’ home-field advantage and recent improvements make them a compelling choice. New York has been particularly effective in season openers, boasting a strong record in recent years. Additionally, the Giants’ ability to perform well in high-pressure situations, as evidenced by their close games last season, makes them a viable contender to cover the spread or even secure an outright win.

However, the Vikings should not be underestimated. With Sam Darnold expected to be in top form and with key players like wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Minnesota has the potential to upset the Giants. The Vikings’ balanced offensive attack and robust defense make them a formidable opponent, capable of covering the spread or even securing an outright win.
