Seattle Ready for Second-Half Surge

The Seattle Seahawks are in a great spot on Sunday when they return off a bye to face the 3-7 Las Vegas Raiders.

Raiders Halt Losing Streak at Denver

For the Las Vegas Raiders, it’s a mix of good news and bad news. The good news is that they beat Denver last week to snap a three-game losing streak. That’s it for the good news.

At 3-7, Las Vegas remains one of the biggest disappointments of the 2022 NFL season and a team waiting for the sweet release of death that is the end of the season.

The three wins the Raiders have, two against the Broncos and one against the Texans, come at the expense of two of the worst teams in the NFL. Entering Week 12, the Texans and Broncos have a combined four wins.

Plus, it took overtime to get the job done the second time around against Denver. Derek Carr had a solid game with 307 yards and two touchdowns on 23-of-37 passing.

Josh Jacobs was good, too, with 109 yards rushing. Oddly, Jacobs was the only player in Las Vegas to record a carry on Sunday.

Davante Adams exploded for 141 yards and two touchdowns, while Jacobs added 51 yards on three receptions.

Still, Las Vegas made it to the red zone once and failed to walk away with any points. It wentlso went 3-for-11 on third down.

With a competent team on the other end of the field, the Raiders will fall back into the losers’ bracket on Sunday.

Seattle Tied for Lead in NFC West

The Seattle Seahawks enter Week 12 in “must-win” mode with identical 6-4 records in the NFC West as the San Francisco 49ers. With an 0-1 record against San Francisco, the Seahawks do not hold the tiebreaker and won’t have a shot to even things until Week 15.

The Seahawks could have held the division lead had it not been for a Week 10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-16 in Germany.

The Seahawks fell prey to the surging Buccaneers as Tampa Bay’s momentum was just a bit stronger than Seattle’s.

Geno Smith continued to make his case for Comeback Player of the Year, decade, and century with 275 yards and two touchdowns on 23-for-33 passing.

Smith ranks in the top 7 in passing yards (2,474), touchdowns (17), interceptions (4), and QBR (67.3). If he plays this well all season, he will be a legit MVP candidate come voting day.

It will help Seattle immensely to have this bye fall right after its first loss in almost a month. They have time to regroup before taking on the pitiful Raiders.

The extra week also allowed CB Tre Brown to work his way back onto the 53-man roster in Seattle after rehabbing a torn patella. He may not play a lot on Sunday, but his presence will be felt on any snap he is on the field.

Las Vegas vs Seattle Prediction

This is the perfect matchup for Seattle, coming off its first loss in weeks and a bye. The Seahawks are motivated, well-rested, and should be ready for a second-half push toward the NFC Championship.

The Raiders are going to suffer yet another brutal loss as the nightmare continues for Carr and Co. They have not beaten a winning team all season, and Seattle won’t be the first to fall.
