Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots Betting Odds and Lines

How do you stop a player like Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson? That’s a question that many have tried to answer but that maybe Bill Belichick solve.

At the end of the day, it’s Belichick, aka the GOAT of pro football coaching. As the 1-1 Ravens prepare to pay the also 1-1 Patriots a visit to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday all eyes will be on how New England tries to control Jackson.

In what promises to be a battle of coaching wit between Belichick and John Harbaugh, who will end up leaving Foxborough with a win? Let’s take a look.

It’s Time for Mac Jones To Step Up More for NE

Patriots QB Mac Jones gave off some pretty good feelings for New England fans in his rookie season. Now, in his second seasons, it’s becoming more and more evident that Jones needs to step up his game.

After passing for two touchdowns alongside two interceptions in his first couple of outings, Jones needs to start playing more prominent football.

Yes, Jones started the season playing against two of the better defenses in the conference, Miami and Pittsburgh. Still, the hype surrounding his secon year as the Pats’ starter has not lived up to anything.

Now, as he prepares to play against yet another one of the better defensive units in the AFC, Jones needs to play some better football. Pronto.

With the help of WRs Nelson Agholor and Jakobi Meyers, Jones should be able to grow. Against a study defense, especially one with a secondary as good as Baltimore’s, the room for mistakes is slim.

Stepping over to the defensive side of the ball, New England needs to find a way to take Jackson out of the equation.

With Matt Judon leading the Pats’ front seven, getting to Jackson as quickly and often as possible could end up being the key to a win at home.

Will We Witness Another Lamar Jackson Show?

Whoever is not a fan of Jackson, regardless of which team they follow should reconsider their choices. Even in a losing effort last week against the Dolphins, Jackson looked like he was a character out of a video game.

His ability to sneak past defenders, pass, and above all run the ball makes him the closest thing to a Michael Vick-style of player.

Going back to Baltimore’s loss against Miami last week, the Ravens fell, not because of a lack of talent, but mostly because of being outplayed in specific moments.

Against the Patriots, a team that’s known for preferring smart over flashy football, the Ravens might have to take a page out of Belichick’s book to win.

Baltimore’s strengths rest on Jackson. He is the kind of player you build a franchise around. This is why, if the Ravens want to score a victory that could help them reach the top of the AFC North division, protecting Jackson is the biggest mission.

Baltimore has always been known as a team that does not hold back on defense, which works perfectly when playing against a QB like Jones.

Give the Ravens’ defense, and their secondary, enough room to pounce on New England’s offense and it will be game over for the Patriots.

Who’s Leaving Foxborough with a 2-1 Record?

Jackson is electrifying. Belichick is a football genius. So what trumps what here? Even if New England plays its best football at home, with the way it has been performing, beating Baltimore is not a scenario we can see happening on Sunday.

While the Patriots will surely give Jackson and the Ravens a tussle, expect Baltimore to pull off a tight win on the road.
