Indianapolis Looks To End Losing Streak Against the Steelers

Struggling teams meet Monday night when the Indianapolis Colts play host yo the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Indianapolis Colts will be hoping to end a long losing streak when they meet the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.

The Steelers hold a 26-6 record in the series and are on a seven-game win streak against the Colts.

The last time the teams met was December 2020, where Pittsburgh won 28-24 at home. The Colts’ last win came in November 2008 in a 24-20 victory.

Neither team has had the most successful season, with the Colts 4-6 and the Steelers 3-7, and with both teams coming off a loss, one is bound to bounce back.

Indianapolis Defense Stays Solid

The Colts have lost four of their past five, however their defense remains one of the top in the league.

Indianapolis is fourth in the NFL in yards per game allowed, with teams averaging 307.6 yards. The Colts’ 20 points allowed a game is 11th in the league.

In four of the Colts’ last five games, teams have been held to 20 points or less.

In Indianapolis’ recent loss to Philadelphia, the top-scoring Eagles were held to 17 points after averaging 26.3 points a game.

The Colts also kept the Eagles under their season average of 370 yards a game, as Philadelphia finished with 314 yards.

The Steelers haven’t had the strongest offense in the league, and the Colts’ defense will look to cause more issues for them.

Pittsburgh’s Ground Game Steps Up

The Steelers have also struggled their last few games, falling in three of four.

However, despite the losses, Pittsburgh’s run game has improved.

The Steelers have averaged 107.8 yards per game, but they have improved those numbers recently.

In Pittsburgh’s past three games, the team has averaged 154.3 yards on the ground.

The Steelers’ top performance came in their 20-10 win over the Saints, as they rushed for 217 yards.

Running back Najee Harris leads the team with 550 yards and three touchdowns, and has rushed for 189 yards in the past two games.

The ground game will continue to be an important key in the offense with rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett still finding his footing.

Pittsburgh vs Indianapolis Prediction

Both teams have been struggling offensively. Each has a strong running back with Harris for Pittsburgh and Jonathan Taylor for the Colts, and the game may come down to who does a better job at holding the run game.

The Steelers have a stronger run defense and a veteran head coach in Mike Tomlin. The Colts will be looking to snap a losing streak against the Steelers, however Pittsburgh should get a close win on the road.
