Alcaraz a Cinch? Spaniard Again Player to Beat

French Open winner Carlos Alcaraz headlines the field at the Cinch Championships at Queen’s Club in London next week

Coming off a victory at the French Open, Alcaraz could face young gun Holger Rune in the final if everything goes to plan, and tennis odds expect both men to play well

Americans Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, and Ben Shelton are also in the tourney field and they’re good enough to cause an upset

Reign of Alcaraz is Here

With injuries derailing the late career of Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz could continue to cash in as the player to beat

He’s the current favorite to win Wimbledon at +135 odds, which Djokovic owns, and he’s also the favorite to win the Cinch Championships.

Alcaraz won the French Open with an epic five-set final over Alex Zverev and if he’s not fatigued, so should roll through most of the field in London

The 2023 Wimbledon winner loves playing on grass courts, and we think his game is better suited to grass courts

He followed his victory here by beating Djokovic in the final at Wimbledon, so beating a lesser field in London helps his chances of winning

We expect his odds for this event to be around +120 to win, which is short, but he could go on a lengthy winning run.

Improvement Shown From Rune

We waited patiently for Rune to show his best form, and after playing well at Roland Garros, he could play well again this week

The 21-year-old Danish player lost in the fourth round of the French Open to Zverev in a five-set thriller, and despite dropping the last two sets, he should take plenty of encouragement from that effort

I think there’s nothing called ‘crazy’ in tennis. … You need to believe in yourself (and be) a little crazy,” Rune said. “You need these big dreams that seem unrealistic for other people. But I believe in them. And that’s the most important part: It doesn’t matter what other people think because they’re never going to achieve it

I think it’s very important to dream big, and have people that believe in you and trust you.

We expect Rune to make the final at the Cinch Championships. He will face a tough opponent in the quarters and semis, but if he’s anywhere near his best, he could score an overdue ATP win

Rune is worth backing to win and his form usually improves on grass courts. He made the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2023, and he was good enough to beat Djokovic at the 2022 Paris Masters

That was his only Masters 1000 victory, but he has battled immaturity throughout his career. He seems to have matured recently, so he’s worth backing on a consistent basis

Fritz Headlines American Charge

Taylor Fritz has the game needed to win this tournament, and he’s the best of the American hopefuls

Fritz did well at the French Open, losing in the fourth round to Casper Ruud. That is a good effort for the 26-year-old, who had to play a five-setter in the third round

Grass courts aren’t his best surface. Fritz is much better at the hard courts of the Australian Open and US Open, but he made the Wimbledon quarters in 2022

Tommy Paul has also been playing good tennis as well, so he could go further in the Cinch Championship

Paul was rolled in the third round at Roland Garros, but he made the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2022 and third round in 2023

Grass-court tennis suits him, so he could make a deep run and potentially score an upset over the likes of Alcaraz and Rune

We’re happy to include Fritz and Paul in our tennis selections for the important ATP event in London
