Alcaraz Set for Big Things Following Wimbledon Success

Spaniard No Joke

Carlos Alcaraz entered the 2023 Wimbledon as the world number one, yet his win against Novak Djokovic went against most Wimbledon tennis picks.

Djokovic was all the rage at the sportsbook in his quest to win his third grand slam in 2023. However, it was Alcaraz who came up trumps in the fifth and final set.

The 20-year-old has the tennis world at his feet, so he’s the player to follow out of Wimbledon.

How Many Can He Get?

It has been a long time since tennis had a young star. Gone are the days when only Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic won.

Enter Alcaraz, who added the Wimbledon title to his 2022 U.S. Open victory. He did it in fine fashion, and despite losing the opening five games, he battled back throughout the match to win in five sets.

With two grand slams in only a few years playing on the ATP Tour, Alcaraz could see that number go into double digits in the next few years. He’s that good, and when you’re better than everyone else on tour, winning becomes much easier.

Wimbledon predictions had him on the second line of betting behind Djokovic, but the +250 underdog in the final showed why he’s the future of the game.

Right now is the happiest moment of my life, that’s for sure,Alcaraz said. “Probably in five years will change. Right now, I’m 20, I didn’t live too many situations like this, so I’m going to enjoy this moment.

Making history that I did today, it’s the happiest moment of my life. I think it’s not going to change for a long time. Beating Novak, winning the Wimbledon championship, is something that I dreamed about since I started playing tennis. That’s why it is the biggest moment of my life.

It’s only a matter of time before Djokovic calls time on his career, which leaves the gate open for Alcaraz to dominate. There are some improving young players, such as Holger Rune, Jannik Sinner, and Casper Ruud, but they are light years behind Alcaraz at the moment.

Sport betting markets have him at +150 to defend his U.S. Open title, behind only Djokovic at +120.

Where Is the Value?

Bettors will want to know where the value is coming from in the coming months. There won’t be much value with Alcaraz and Djokovic, but is betting against them throwing money away?

As Wimbledon tennis news reported, guys like Sinner and Rune need to take their game to another level to compete with the best in the world. They were swept aside at Wimbledon, but that doesn’t mean they can’t provide value.

Sinner is a +1100 chance to win the U.S. Open after opening around +1800. There has been support for the Italian, who was bounced from Wimbledon in straight sets by Djokovic.

However, there is plenty of improvement left with Sinner, and although he’s not as special as Alcaraz, upsets can happen in tennis.

Online gambling markets also took money for Ruud, who made the French Open final, but he wasn’t able to back it up in London.

He’s a good hardcourt player, so he could represent value at Flushing Meadows. He is worth following at a generous +1600 price.
