Nadal has won 22 Grand Slam titles, a record. At 36, he is the oldest French Open champion, supplanting Andres Gimeno, who was 34 when he won in 1972.

There was little mystery to this match. The only time Ruud was ahead was in the second set when he was up 3-1.
All Nadal did from that point was rattle off the final 11 games.
Nadal is 112-3 in the French Open. He won his first title in 2005 as 19-year-old.
Nadal becomes the fifth player to win both the Australian Open and the French in the same year since the Open Era began in 1968.
