The 20-year-old is already a two-time Grand Slam champion, and he could have easily won more had it not been for Djokovic.

He is also playing well in the China Open, so he’s in stunning form entering the Shanghai Masters. He recently defeated Casper Ruud, who is never easy to get past.

Medvedev Closing In

We thought Daniil Medvedev had a chance to win the US Open against Djokovic, but failing to win a set was disappointing.

However, the Russian is still closing in on the top two players in the world and has experience on his side.

Sport betting markets have Medvedev on the second line of betting behind Alcaraz, which isn’t surprising. He’s one of only a few players in the Shanghai Masters with experience winning a grand slam, so he demands respect.

He’s the second seed, so like Alcaraz, he gets a good passage to the finals. He even skips the opening round, so this tournament is well within his grasp.

Americans Coming Strong

It has been a good year for American tennis. Coco Gauff won the U.S. Open, and the men have been performing well.

Shanghai Masters picks shouldn’t leave out the likes of Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.

Fritz is the highest-ranked American after a successful 2023, so he should have the best chance of an American winning the Shanghai Masters.

He made the quarterfinals at Flushing Meadows, which could give him enough confidence to make a deep run in China.

Tiafoe is another player capable of winning the tournament. He’s not quite at the level of Alcaraz and Medvedev but is good enough to produce an upset on any given day.

Betting online markets always respect his chances, and we wouldn’t have a bet on the Shanghai Masters without including him at a price.

Denis Kudla believed Tiafoe didn’t have the work ethic to be successful, but understood that his natural talent would take him a long way.

“I just never thought that he had the discipline to be top 100 – not from a fitness point of view, but from a decision-making point of view,” Kudla told the media. “Decisions on the court are so important and take so much work, so much instruction, so much studying. I didn’t see him doing that.”

Tiafoe is still a work in progress, but he has enough ability to cause a few upsets.
