The round-robin stages of the Nitto ATP World Finals have gone to script as Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev top their groups.
It has been relatively smooth sailing for the sportsbook favorites, who have already met in the final in multiple tournaments this year.
They are clearly the best players in the world and another meeting in the final is expected. There is a chance the likes of Andrey Rublev and Alex Zverev cause an upset, but bookmakers expect a U.S. Open Final rematch in Italy.
Djokovic Shrugs Off Russian Challenge
Novak Djokovic scored a straight-sets win over Andrey Rublev on Wednesday to remain perfect in Group Green.
He beat Casper Ruud in the opening match of the tournament, also in straight sets. Not dropping a set to two world class opponents in stellar form for the tournament favorite, who is keen to get revenge over Medvedev.
With Stefanos Tsitsipas pulling out of the tournament, it gives Djokovic one less top player to beat. He now faces Cameron Norrie and is the -1000 favorite to beat the Brit on Friday. We’re expecting Djokovic to remain perfect and progress to the next stage.
He’s the only one of the “Big Three” currently playing and it’s no fluke. Djokovic is one of the most focused tennis players in history, which has extended his career. Not many 34-year-olds are capable of producing his level of tennis on a consistent basis.
The ATP World Tour Finals gives him another chance to showcase his customary grit and class.
Undoubtedly the best defensive player of all time, he showed off his skills with an insane defensive effort against Rublev.
The GREATEST defender of all time…

He had the Tennis TV commentators in awe.
“How is that for athletic ability, full stretch on the forehand side.” said one commentator. “Djokovic just made this his house, showing what he is capable of. The very best defender of all time on a hard court.”
Betting online markets are offering value odds for Djokovic to win because Medvedev is playing equally as good, so there is value available.
Medvedev Leads Group Red
Winning matches at the ATP Finals hasn’t come as easily for Daniil Medvedev as Djokovic, but he’s unbeaten all the same.
The Russian dropped sets against Hubert Hurkacz and Alex Zverev, but he continued to find the goods in the third and final set.
He was beaten by Djokovic in the Paris Masters Final, but he scored a straight-sets win in the U.S. Open Final, which has since seen his game elevate. The confidence from securing his first Grand Slam title can’t be overlooked and he knows he can beat the world’s best.
Tennis betting odds expect Medvedev to make the final against Djokovic in Turin, and squeezing past Zverev holds him in good stead.
“I always say against a Top-10 player for years, which is Sascha, I feel like no matter how many matches you win in a row you can basically lose the same amount in a row afterwards,” Medvedev told ATPTour.com.
“Every match was different. Some matches I was in control. Some matches I remember he was up, really in control of the match, where I managed to turn it around. Today’s match was a matter of few points, was a really close match.”
We expect the Russian to make a deep run at the ATP Finals. He has one more match against Jannik Sinner, who should give him a good test.
