Italy Upsets USA
The Italians defied the tennis odds and delivered the mini-upset over the United States in the quarterfinals. Italy went into the competition tied with the USA as the third overall favorite, priced at +400 to win the title. However, the Americans were seen to have the upper hand with a much stronger team going into the final eight.
The Italians got off to a strong start behind world No.45 Lorenzo Sonego, who put his side on the front foot with an upset over an in-form Francis Tiafoe. World No. 23 Lorenzo Mussettti battled hard against Taylor Fritz but fell ultimately short. Veterans Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli carried the Italians across the finish line with a standout win over their American doubles counterparts.

Canada Rallies
The Canadians entered the competition as the top favorites at +300, jointly favored alongside the Croatians. But things got off to a rocky start when Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff upset Dennis Shapovalov in the first rubber. The onus fell on top-ranked Felix Auger-Aliassime to rescue Canada’s bid and he delivered with a straight-set win over Oscar Otte. The final deciding rubber saw Vasek Pospisil and Shapovalov carry the Canadians into the semifinals following a three-set win over the pairing of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz.
Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil end the incredible Davis Cup winning streak (8) of Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz, beating them 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to put Canada in the Davis Cup semifinals in Malaga.

Italy vs Canada Betting Prediction
Both these teams have standout young talents leading the charge alongside veteran experience to boot, and with emotions likely heightened at this penultimate stage, it’s a right toss-up for tennis picks despite the rather lopsided odds.
The Canadians are expected to come through as the favorites, but the Italians are dangerous floaters that can’t be underestimated. If it comes down to the wire, the pairing of Fognini and Bolelli in doubles could have a slight edge over Pospisil and Shapovalov.
Another factor that could help the Italians is crowd support. With the tournament taking place in Malaga, Spain, the Italian contingency is bound to be huge.
All this makes Italy worth considering for your bets to deliver the upset and book its place in Sunday’s much-anticipated final.
- Prediction: Italy 2-1 over Canada
