Alcaraz Downs Sinner In Epic
Arguably, one of the best matches at the US Open concluded in the wee hours of Thursday morning with Alcaraz beating Sinner in a five-hour epic and the latest US Open finish in history.
Alcaraz won the absorbing battle between the NextGen stars, 3-6 7-6 (7) 7-6 (0) 5-7 6-3 at 2:50 a.m. ET in front of a raucous New York crowd that was left spellbound by what had just unfolded before their eyes.
The level of tennis produced by both players over five hours, 15 minutes was outstanding and extraordinary, but especially from Alcaraz who recovered from a break down in the fourth and fifth set and saved a matchpoint late in the fourth set to emerge victorious.

Tiafoe Reaches First Semi
American hopeful Tiafoe dismissed No. 9 seed Andrey Rublev in straight sets, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (0), 6-4, in front of a boisterous crowd to reach his first US Open semifinal.
It’s been a week of milestones for Tiafoe, who made his first grand slam quarterfinal at the US Open only a few days ago after beating Rafael Nadal in four sets in the R16. He then followed up the biggest win of his career with a mature performance against a despondent Rublev and in the process he became the first black man to reach the penultimate round since Arthur Ashe.

Alcaraz vs Tiafoe Prediction
Tiafoe is the home favorite and owns the 1-0 H2H edge over Alcaraz, but the bookmakers favor the teenage phenom to win this clash. Even though Alcaraz survived his second five-set marathon in a row, spent more time on court than Tiafoe up to this point, and is going to go into this semifinal with a lot less rest and recovery time after his quarterfinal match finished early Thursday morning.
That’s a testament to the qualify, talent, and skill of Alcaraz, who’s enjoyed a meteoric rise in the rankings behind his banner season. All things being equal, Alcaraz is without a doubt the better player and the one that is likely to become one of the game’s greats. It’s impossible to know how the late finish will affect him or if he can recover fully for this semifinal tilt, but assuming he does, he’s the smart play here.
