Norrie Upsets Alcaraz.
Britain’s No. 1 Norrie defied the tennis odds and pulled off his first win over Carlos Alcaraz on Friday as he beat the rising sensation in three sets, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (4), 6-4.
It marked his first win over Alcaraz in four matches after entering their quarterfinal match trailing 0-3 lifetime and 0-2 in 2022. Most recently, Norrie had lost to Alcaraz in back-to-back Masters at Indian Wells and Miami.
Norrie truly rose to the occasion. The Spaniard was playing lights-out tennis, but Norrie used his guile and experience to finally get into the win column, though it really could have gone either way.
Norrie has had a fantastic summer since he reached the Wimbledon semifinals. He was a finalist in Los Cabos (two weeks ago), losing to Daniil Medvedev in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0.
He also reached the R16 in Montreal last week, where he lost to Felix Auger Aliassime 3-6. 4-6. In total, Norrie’s record during the summer US Open series swing is 5-2.
It hurts to lose matches like yesterday's 🫠, but you have to look at the positives for the @usopen! 🗽Congrats to @cam_norrie and good luck today! 🍀 pic.twitter.com/QQuWP1YL1M

Norrie vs Coric Betting Verdict
Norrie has the ranking advantage and the overall form this season that makes him the betting online favorite to win this match.
Norrie is priced at -140 at the sportsbook exchange. That said, Coric is merely a small underdog at +120, which implies that he has a stake in the win, too.
Coric is a former Top 20 player who ranked as high as No. 12. It’s easy to forget players that were once on the top but that have fallen out the Top 100 and thereby out of favor. Coric’s resurgence this week is a timely reminder of his skill, quality and talent. It’s no mean feat to beat Nadal, even a rusty one.
All told, this will be an interesting contest that could go either way. Norrie is instinctively the smart bet to win while Coric is the sentimental bet. One really wants to root for him on his comeback trail.
