Alcaraz will be looking to get back on track after his first-round exit at the Astana Open (l. To Goffin). However, the teenager arguably has the toughest opener of all the top seeds as he’s drawn against Britain’s Jack Draper in the first round.
The Briton looms as a stumbling block to the newly minted World No. 1. He has had some stellar results this year and noteworthy upsets, too. That said, Draper is coming off a second-round exit at the European Open.
Should Alcaraz overcome Draper, he would come up against either Botic Van De Zandschulp or Adrian Mannarino in the R16.
Carreno Busta opens his tournament against dangerous floater Sebastian Baez. Should he overcome the tricky Argentine, he will face the winner of Maxime Cressy vs wild card Dominic Stricker in the R16.
Auger Aliassime received no favors from the draw. He takes on home favorite Marc-Andrea Huesler, who will have the crowd behind him even if the tennis odds are stacked against him.
Should Aliassime avoid the early upset, he will face the winner of Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina and Miomir Kecmanovic.
Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti is having a standout second half of his 2022 campaign. He comes in as a legitimate contender according to the bookmakers. He takes on veteran Albert Ramos-Vinolas, a match he should win comfortably. In the R16, he will face the winner of Aslan Karatsev and Alexander Bublik.
Predicted Semifinal – Alcaraz vs Musetti
Bottom Half of the Draw
Seeded Players; (2) Casper Ruud, (4) Marin Cilic, (6) Roberto Bautista Agut, (7) Alex de Minaur.
Marin Cilic and Alex de Minaur highlight the third quarter while Casper Ruud and Roberto Bautista Agut fall into the fourth quarter. If the draw goes according to the seeding, the top seeds will collide in the final eight of their respective quarters.

Cilic opens his tournament against veteran Arthur Rinderknech who qualified for the tournament. By all accounts, Cilic should progress into the R16 comfortably where he will face the winner of Alex Molcan and Mackenzie McDonald.
De Minaur has a much tougher opener against Hoger Rune in the first round. In fact, Rune may well be the smart bet to advance from this corner.
Should de Minaur survive the teenage Dane in the first round, he’ll face the winner of Jenson Brooksby and Ugo Humbert.
Bautista Agut opens his tournament against qualifier Laslo Djere. This is another case where a high seed in this half could be vulnerable to the early upset as Djere is a journeyman on the ATP Tour that can’t be underestimated.
Should Bautista Agut survive the R32, he will face the winner of Andy Murray vs qualifier Roman Safiullin.
Ruud has a tricky opening match against home favorite and three-time grand slam champion Stanislas Wawrinka. Without a doubt, Ruud is the better player today. But Wawrinka will have the advantage of playing at home in front of a supportive crowd.
Should Ruud survive the R32, he’ll face either dangerous floater David Goffin or American Brandon Nakashima. Goffin upset Alcaraz in Kazakhstan a fortnight ago and reached the quarterfinals of the European Open last week.
