Citi Open Quarterfinal Evans vs Nishioka Game Preview, Odds, Picks & Predictions
Evans vs Nishioka – Will Evans Prevail?
The first of four quarterfinals at the Citi Open was set on Wednesday night as only three of eight third-round matches were complete — the others were concluded early Thursday morning.
For tennis betting, Dan Evans vs. Yoshihito Nishioka will be the first quarterfinal played and is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. Let’s check the latest Tennis news, stats, injury reports, and Tennis odds for Evans vs Nishioka. We’ve plenty of Tennis picks and predictions for you to consider.

Evans Back on Track
After losing first-round matches in three of his last five events, Evans is finally gaining some momentum in a relatively big tournament, and it’s a good time to bet online in favor of another victory for the Englishman. After cruising past Kyle Edmund 6-1, 6-2 in the Round of 32, Evans advanced to the quarterfinals against American Taylor Fritz 3-6, 7-6, 4-1 (retired).
The 32-year-old player is favored -125 in this match, while the over/under for games is listed at 22.5. Prior to the Citi Open, Evans lost his opening round match at Wimbledon, the Queen’s Club Championship, and the Italian Open.
Evans is 13-16 this season and has only one career title. Should he win, he’ll be into his second ATP semifinal this season — he lost to Aslan Karatsev in the semifinals of the ATP 250 event in Sydney, Australia.
Nishioka Has Taken Down Quality Players
Despite largely playing on the Challenger Tour this season, Nishioka has been a revelation at the Citi Open.
The 26-year-old Japanese player, who lost in the opening round at Wimbledon, defeated Jensen Brooksby in the Round of 64 and followed that up with surprise victories over the higher-ranked Alex de Minaur and Karen Khachanov.
Nishioka was just 2-10 on the ATP Tour prior to his surprising three-match win streak at the Citi Open. He’s listed at +105 to win the match but has already taken down players with a higher profile than Evans. Can he keep his run going?
Evans vs Nishioka Head-to-Head
Although Evans is ranked higher (No. 40 compared to No. 96) than Nishioka, the Japanese player is actually 4-0 against Evans in his career.
All four of these matches have been played on hard courts, too, so that’s not a great sign for Evans. In fact, Nishioka even defeated Evans in the Round of 64 at the Citi Open in 2019.

Evans vs Nishioka Prediction
Evans is clearly the more experienced and advanced player here, and Las Vegas odds have him as the slight favorite to win. However, given Nishioka’s success against Evans (and on hard court in particular), it’s hard to imagine the Briton reaching the semifinals.
Moreover, Nishioka has already defeated players higher ranked than Evans and has obviously found something in his game this week. Nishioka is also a much better hard-court player, to begin with – he’s 15-8 this season, including Challenger Tour events, while Evans is just 8-6.
As far as the over/under (22.5) for games is concerned, expect the over to hit for the match. These two players have gone three sets before and will likely do so again, considering what’s at stake.
