No. 7 Serena Williams vs No. 10 Aryna Sabalenka
Saturday at TBD
Fourth round (Round of 16)
TV: USA – ESPN / Tennis Channel, UK – Eurosport 1, India – Sony Six
Serena Needs To Bring ‘A’ Game
Williams won her first two matches via straight sets against Laura Siegemund and Nina Stojanovic,, but struggled early before putting away Anastasia Potapova 7-6 (2), 6-2 in her third-round match early Friday.
The 23-time Major champion came back from 5-3 down in the opening set and saved a couple of set points en route to the win.
The 39-year-old Williams ranks second to Naomi Osaka in aces with 19 through three matches. Williams has won this event a stunning seven times in her legendary career but was knocked out in the third round last year.
Sabalenka Looking Dangerous
Aryna Sabalenka cruised in her opener before fighting off Daria Kasatinka 7-6 (7), 6-3 in the second round. The 22-year-old world No. 7 then destroyed American Ann Li, 6-3, 6-1 in the third round on Friday morning by whipping 19 winners on Li.
The Belarusian has been on fire to start the 2021 campaign but has never been past the third round in Australia while getting bounced in the first round a year ago and in 2018 as well. Still, Sabalenka has won 18 of her last 19 matches, dating back to last year’s Ostrava Open. Her only loss during the run came at the recent Gippsland Trophy, where she was ousted in the opening round by Kaia Kanepi.

Williams and Sabalenka have never faced each other.
While Serena Williams didn’t get off to the best start in her last match, the legend found a way to win Williams will definitely have to play better to get past the dangerous Sabalenka, but that’s exactly what I expect her to do.
The longer this match goes, the more it will favor the younger Sabalena. Still, I’m going with Williams to find a way to scratch out the win, based mostly on the fact that she has a huge edge when it comes to a serving. Sabalenka won’t go quietly into the night, but I am predicting her to fall in two epic sets.
Pick: Serena Williams In Two Sets
