Memphis Grizzlies vs San Antonio Spurs Betting Analysis

Two of our three BetUS handicappers in Wednesday’s show have backed the Grizzlies as one of their NBA favorites today. Alex and Sean are down with the Memphis cause, and after a little digging, it’s not hard to understand why.

These teams have not met this season, but the Grizzlies are 9-1 straight up against the Spurs in their last 10 meetings. Moreover, Memphis is the top team in the league in scoring, averaging nearly 123 points per game, and routinely owns the glass, ranked second in rebounds behind only Houston, with 48.1 boards per game.

The Spurs are an exciting team, and they have the most dynamic young star in the game in 7’3” phenom Victor Wembanyama. But they are scoring nearly a dozen points less than the Grizzlies. That’s a steep drop-off, and although we are not fond of laying points on the road, sometimes you’ve got to break the rules.

Pick: Grizzlies -2 ½ (-110)

Charlotte Hornets vs Utah Jazz Betting Analysis

BetUS hoops handicapper Doug has made a convincing argument to back the lowly Hornets as one of his NBA expert picks over the even lowlier Utah Jazz. Yes, it’s like picking the prettiest pig in the poke, but Charlotte wins that beauty contest, as ugly as she may be. I know, laying points on the road with the Hornets is a tall task, but the situation seems to warrant it.

Sure, the Hornets are a lousy team, but they’ve been covering lately because they have become an auto-fade for the betting public, and the lines have been generous for the underdog. Remember, points are the ultimate equalizer, and in a rare case we see Charlotte laying the lumber instead of getting it. That tells you just how bad the Jazz are this season.

The biggest advantage the Hornets have on Wednesday night is rest. Both their games against the Lakers and Clippers were postponed last week before they tipped off against the Suns in the desert on Sunday and dropped a hard-fought 120-113 decision.

Meanwhile, the Jazz got a rare victory in their latest effort, but it took them to overtime to get it when they secured a 112-111 OT victory against the Nets.

Utah is brutal on the defensive end, and they allow the third-most 3-pointers in the league. That is nothing but a green light for Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball, who loves nothing more than sinking shots from beyond the arc.

Let’s hold our collective noses and lay the 5 points in this one and back the Hornets in our NBA picks on Wednesday night.

Pick: Hornets -5 (-110)
