Washington Wizards vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Analysis

Two of our BetUS hoops cappers, Alex and Sean, have circled the Nets as one of their NBA favorites today, which always gives me a boost of confidence when backing the same pony as the pros. Yes, the Nets are dreadful, but they have recently put together a modest three-game winning streak, with the most recent effort being a 99-97 win over the Rockets as 9-point home underdogs on Tuesday night.

Speaking of dreadful, the Nets look like a collection of Hall of Famers compared to the dregs on the 8-41 Washington Wizards. Believe it or not, this collection of misfits has won their last two games, both on the road, but they will be facing a better team than they did on Monday when they defeated the lowly Hornets, 124-114.

Look, Washington has not won three consecutive games since last March, nearly a year ago, and they won’t end that drought tonight. The Nets are now playing with a little more grit and determination, which is all a team needs against a lackluster opponent like the Wizards.

Defense will win the day, and although Brooklyn’s offense is nothing to write home about, their defense is ranked 12th in the league, allowing 112.1 points per game, but it’s been even better recently as the Nets have held their last three opponents to under 100 points. If they do that tonight, and they will, this game is a gimme, and the cover will be easy considering we’re only laying 2 ½ points.

Include the Nets as one of your NBA picks and predictions.

Pick: Nets -4 (-115)

Phoenix Suns vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Analysis

BetUS basketball handicapper Sean has locked on to the Thunder and has them as one of his NBA expert picks for Wednesday night, and I can’t say I blame him. I realize we’re laying a ton of lumber here, but the disparity in talent between these clubs, coupled with the venue, makes OKC a team worth betting on tonight.

The Thunder have won and covered in their last four meetings, including their only clash this season, a 99-83 Oklahoma City victory, easily covering as 7 ½ point home chalk. That was nearly two months ago, and I can easily envision a similar result.

Phoenix has dropped 3 of its last 4 and failed to cover in those three losses, while the Thunder have won 3 of their last 4 with dominating performances in their last two games, a 144-110 victory over the Kings and a 125-96 blowout over the Bucks on Monday.

These are two teams going in opposite directions, and with the Suns’ Kevin Durant doubtful due to an ankle sprain, this spread should be more like Thunder -16 than merely laying a dozen.

Include Oklahoma City in your NBA picks today!

Pick: Thunder -12 (-110)
