TJ Reeves:
It’s getting good now. Here we are to the first weekend of March and all the excitement in the mayhem. Welcome back to The BETUS College Basketball Show. I am merely TJ Reeves. We’ve got our handy capers backboard. Wait a minute. Somebody’s in the chair of The Big Man. That would be Ian Cameron, Bobano back with us. Good to have you backboard on a Friday with all these conference tournaments and some of the smaller conferences getting underway and much more. Ian, how you feeling?
Ian Cameron:
Yeah. Good to be with you, TJ and Matt. Yeah, big shoes literally and figuratively to fill for me on the Friday edition of the show here. But yeah, we’re excited conference tournaments making up the majority of the slate today, which is, I love. It’s a great time of the year. Got some good matchup. So looking forward to talking about some of them.
TJ Reeves:
We were excited about all of it. Excited to have Matt Josephs back aboard for a Friday. Mid Major Matt. Here we go. Lots and lots and lots of tournament play.
TMatt Josephs:
Yeah, lots of tournament play and I can continue to badmouth the SEC, because Jeff’s not here to defend them. That if I have the time.
TJ Reeves:
Well I’m here and obviously they’re coming to Tampa Bay, so we’re going to be infiltrated, infested, whatever any word you want to use with Kentucky fan, Arkansas fan, Auburn, Tennessee, Gators 90 miles to the north. They will all be here. Some interesting games for Saturday in the SEC. For the slotting, we might talk about a couple of those, but you guys have got a bunch of plays for the conference tournament games. One more time for Thursday night before we go to bed, I put that one to bed on Thursday. What do we know about the big 10 at this point? Especially at the top. I mean, Michigan again, with everything to play for, trying to make the NCAA tournament, comes off of a great win over their rival Michigan State and promptly loses to Iowa at home when they had to have the game. Guys, an explanation or do we just chalk it up to anybody at the top can beat anybody in the big 10?
Ian Cameron:
Yeah. I mean, when you look at it, guys, I was actually playing a little bit of defense. I know, I’ve ripped this team. I’ve ripped Fran McCaffery for years that they just don’t get back and guard on defense. You know, they score quickly and I think, they think they can stop for years. And they transition game’s been a big part of their game offensively and pushing pace. And then they rarely ever got back on defense. And that’s why they were always in these shootouts. And a lot of times they lose them.
Ian Cameron:
But they’re playing better defense. For the first time in years, you can say they’ve actually shown up on the defensive end of the floor. What they did to Michigan for most of that game last night, frustrating. With they did to Ohio State on the road just a week or two ago, just shut them down completely. Now, do I buy into them doing this throughout March and making a run now? No, not yet. They’ve still got some proving to do at least in my eyes, but there’s no doubt they’ve made strides at that end of the floor. And I think that kind of explains why Iowa’s made a little bit of a run here in the last few weeks.
TJ Reeves:
Again, tough to explain some of this Ohio State beat Michigan State. They now finish with Michigan. Matt, watch Michigan go beat Ohio State at Ohio State. I mean, they are just erratic and hard to predict, I think right now. And I know Jeff Nadu was going out of his mind and your absence guys yesterday saying, “I’m not betting this team because I can’t figure them out.” And he once again sees Michigan lose at home to Iowa.
TMatt Josephs:
I mean when Nebraska goes into Ohio State and wins, that should tell you something. I mean, to me I look at it, this conference, however many they get in is just another Power Five conference. And I think with the right Mid-majors could lose early. I mean, I think this year more than ever the Mid-majors, there will be more double digit seeds in the sweet 16 than we’ve had recently this year. Because I just think that the Power Five is just not as good as it used to be.
TJ Reeves:
And everybody’s got players transfer portal to your point. All of that helps out. So yeah, we watched all of this unfold. Kansas did get their revenge. They had some trouble with TCU. San Diego State, Matt real quick, won a key game for them. And the Mountain West may very well have three, if not more teams get into the NCAA Tournament with Boise State at the top with the UNLV battling for a spot. Wyoming in that mix, Mountain West is strong.
TMatt Josephs:
Yeah. And then of course you got BYU playing tonight in the West Coast Conference and they’re still hanging around. So you know, Bill Walton thinks six Pac-12 teams should get in. I mean this is the West Coast’s time right now that take advantage of the East Coast.
TJ Reeves:
Yeah. Oregon did not do themselves any favors, bad loss again in conference play at Washington, Bobano I see you shaking your head. No, I mean they were awful in the first half. It costs them and it may be a case, not only not enough good wins, but too many bad losses, even in their own conference. Right. Ian, real quick.
Ian Cameron:
Yes. Shaking my head because I’ve made some great money in the last few years with Oregon in the NCAA tournament. Now I’m wondering if I’m even going to get the chance to do that this year with this team. I think if they get in, there are a handful for anybody, but it’s just been way too many glaring bad losses. Getting beaten up by Cal, getting crushed by Arizona State, losing to Washington last night. You just can’t have those kind of devastating demoralizing losses and three of them on your resume. So dicey at best is what I’d say about Oregon’s tournament hopes right now.
TJ Reeves:
All right, we will be better than dicey at best. At least we will try to be on Friday. Let’s get to the records and see what happened. Kyle Hunter did come through with a couple of plays last night on a team total and on an over the Big Man was over one. His only play was that Michigan team and he vowed, “I’m out. I’m never betting them again if they don’t win this one.” So I guess he’s not, they’re in the big 10. And you what Bobano’s record and what Mid Major Matt’s records are as we get into a Friday-
Ian Cameron:
Sure bet 4 and 2 on Wednesday for yours truly. I mean Hampton plus six, they lose in overtime by seven. I know that were not crazy [crosstalk 00:05:35].
TMatt Josephs:
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a second. Ian, you can’t say that should have been a win when you got the Campbell over in two overtime. So that should have been a loss technically.
Ian Cameron:
That’s true. That’s true.
TMatt Josephs:
Just to say must, must be fair.
TJ Reeves:
Those does balance out in overtime.
Ian Cameron:
It balance out. So it should have been three and three just as-
TJ Reeves:
For those, by the way, that were laying points with Auburn and saw that shot clank out the other night on Wednesday, then they go to the overtime and outscore Mississippi State by like 14 and cover the line. It just happens that way. Same thing with North Carolina and someone Syracuse Orange earlier in the week. Syracuse absolutely should have covered in that game. North Carolina had no business covering. And then overtime is your enemy for that happening if you have one of the sides. All right, let’s get into it because there are games going on this afternoon, including a couple of games that the Handicappers are on that you’re going to be interested in afternoon play game. Number one for the schedule is in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Very interesting for Loyola of Chicago in the four or five game playing against Bradley here. Loyola laying six points, neutral floors, St. Louis in the opening round for these two teams. Ian Cameron, you’re going to begin things with a total of 131 here. What do you like for this matchup?
Ian Cameron:
I like the dog here, Bradley. I think they’re very live. Plus six. I think they could even win this game. I don’t think Loyola Chicago’s playing their best right now. I’ve not liked what I’ve seen from them down the stretch. They got absolutely gutted defensively by Northern Iowa. And I faded them on Saturday with Northern Iowa. Plus the points of that big first play showdown in the Missouri Valley. I don’t like the way their defense is trending. And I think they’re going to struggle with a team like Bradley. Who’s physical, who’s tough, who’s going to slow the game down, who’s going to be play really good defense. Brian Wardle, I think one of the underrated coaches in this conference. And we’ve seen Bradley and Arch Madness in years passed here in St. Louis, make a run in this conference tournament. I think they got it in them to do it again.
Ian Cameron:
You look at the two regular season meetings, Loyola needed overtime in order to win the one game. And of course at home that was. And Bradley got the win in the return match on their home floor. Bradley’s been a tough out for Loyola, both meetings this year. I think match up wise. It’s solid for them in this game. You’re talking about a neutral court setting. Bradley’s had a history of winning a game or two here at the Missouri Valley Tournament. So I think it sets up for being a very live dog here. Maybe not win the game because… but I don’t need them to at getting plus six. I think Bradley though hangs around and makes this a tough, tough game for the Ramblers.
TJ Reeves:
Okay. Interesting for Loyola of Chicago, they’ve been kind of the darlings here in this situation from the Missouri Valley, they were in the sweet 16 a year ago with the upset of Illinois. They lost that game. Mid Major Matt, as you know, last Saturday, and it not only dropped them out of the chance to be the number one seed, but it dropped them on the tiebreakers down to the four line, which means if they do win this game today, they’ve already got to play Northern Iowa again. You’re going to probably have to play them anyway, but you got to play them again in the semi-final as opposed to not seeing them in the championship game. Any thoughts here Matt, if no official play on Bradley and the Ramblers of Loyola Chicago?
TMatt Josephs:
Well, I mean the funny thing is the Bucks still believe they’re the best team because they made them the favor to win the conference. At least that’s where I saw all these some places. I mean, I like where he is going here. You look at the two games and you saw that Bradley had a huge lead in that first one, but then lost it in overtime. And then they had a nice lead in the other game and Bradley came away with the victory. The one thing I’ll say here is, and Loyola Chicago may have figured this out by their Evansville’s win. If for some reason, Loyola Chicago gets up, they’re going to have to pour it on because they’re on the bubble and they know that the net loves big time margins here. So I think Bradley could keep it interesting. My one worry is that the Ramblers know that double digit victories will help them. They will not show mercy if it gets to be that sort of situation in Arch Madness.
TJ Reeves:
All right again, this is the second game of the afternoon that will be taking place in St. Louis, the second of four. Automatic bid on the line with a Sunday afternoon, final game as the weekend unfolds. And Ian Cameron’s first play for the show is on the Bradley Braves coming up, taking six points here in the quarter final game in the afternoon. Let’s move on to another tournament of interest as we go along here. And that is Winthrop in action here with High Point, this one coming later on tonight in the Big South Tournament. Big South Tournament playing now they’ve already had some upsets, some crazy overtime games. So this is High Point getting seven points on the neutral floor in Charlotte. Winthrop again, is favorite as one of the top teams in this conference, the total 140 1/2. Ian, we’re back to you for the official play again. What do you like?
Ian Cameron:
Yeah, we were wondering on Wednesday, I believe it was. Yeah. Wednesday, the first day of this Big South Tournament here at the Bojangles Coliseum. I know you’re raven about those chicken biscuits there the other-
TJ Reeves:
Yes.
Ian Cameron:
… day TJ at that place. But yes, we were wondering how it was going to play in terms of totals in this venue. Well, it was an over Palooza on Wednesday in this venue. Every game… Now the one was fortunate. One of them that I was on Campbell was very fortunate, but the other one I had was, as easy as it gets, with Southern and Asheville flying over the total. Charleston Southern and UNC Asheville flew over the total. But I like the over here. I think it’s gone down a bit too much. These teams are better offensively than defensively. High Point’s good at forcing turnovers and Winthrop had turnover issues before. So you could get easy baskets here in this game for of the High Point team, which is going to make them better offensively.
Ian Cameron:
You got these teams trending over, five straight overs for High Point entering this game. Four straight overs for Winthrop entering this game as well. And you’ve got a situation where if you look at Bart Torvik and you look at conference stats and offensive efficiency for the entire conference season, you’re going to look at teams that are middle of the pack. You break it down from February 1st onward the last month, which gives you a more and a greater indication of current form. These two teams are top three, four in the conference, offensive efficiency, both Winthrop and High Point.
Ian Cameron:
So I think it’s going to show here. You’ve gotten a better number now. They’re betting all of these games under in this conference tournament here. Just like the Missouri Valley, we’ve seen a lot of their money in those games today. You’re seeing a lot of these games bet under. Charleston Southern Upstate got bet under, High Point, Winthrop got bet under. Campbell, Gardner-Webb’s the one that got bet up toward the over. But this one, I think, has been bet down a bit too low. I mean 140, 140 1/2 is out there. I think we’ll see it get over that number.
TJ Reeves:
All right. So he is on the total here. Matt, you and I were discussing and we’ll illuminate it here on the live show. They played those wild quarter final games, like the double overtime game with Campbell and Presbyterian. And of course, Charleston Southern pulled the upset of Asheville having won just one regular or season game in the conference. Yet they won on a last second shot. They took a day off and now they’re going to play through. Quarter final round and all the way through the championship game, right?
TMatt Josephs:
Yes, this is… It’s today, tomorrow and then the weekend as well, Sunday will be the championship game. And you know, the one thing I always worry about when it comes to these neutral core games is the first feeling out process for the team. So for those who are not familiar, you obviously, the day before you get a shoot around to get, be like a 45 minute shoot around on the court to kind of get familiar with it. But like half the time, a lot of these teams aren’t really doing that much, they’re doing half court shots and things like that. Some of them don’t take it very seriously. So I always worry about teams like Winthrop who are good, their first half at the New Coliseum, they might struggle a little bit with the sight lines and the lack of a crowd and things like that.
TMatt Josephs:
And to the point about High Point with their overs in terms of like, if you look at the scores of their games though, some of them have gone over because they’ve got lower totals. Because High Point isn’t the fastest team. Now the one game they play was a 65-56 game. It was in the end of January. So you can’t really take too much from it. It was a 72 possession game. So that goes well for what Ian’s saying. If you’re going to get 72 possessions, then you have a better chance than the 60 something that they average. So it’s something to look at here in terms of maybe you can even get a live bet over after Winthrop kind of gets the early jitters of the new building out of their system.
TJ Reeves:
All right, Ian’s play is points, points, points. Let’s lock him in officially here on this Big South Quarter Final Tournament game coming up Friday night. 6:00 Eastern Time is the game. He’s on the over 140 1/2.
Ian Cameron:
I want to put that. No, that’s a great point that Matt made about the slow start and then points pick up. I mean, I’ve got this Longwood, A&T game on right now, the first game of the day in this Big South Tournament of this round. It really started off slow. I think it was like three to two, four, five minutes into the game. And now all of a sudden you see this game’s in this… still on pace to go over for the full game. So it has picked up after a slow start with this A&T, Longwood game. So that’s something to note that if it does start out slow, you’ll get some live in game overvalue possibly.
TJ Reeves:
And we’re going to say this so many times today and next week, you’re going to see teams that are good offensive teams, just to Matt’s point that show up at the conference tournament. And they’re in a fog at the beginning of the game. They’re in neutral floor, they can’t make shots. They’re not awake. Especially if they’re playing earlier in the day, on a weekday, it’s going to happen. It’s going to… Just wait. Just wait for what’s going to happen in March for sure. All right, let’s let’s move on. We’ve got him locked in there on the over. A reminder again, get the questions and answers ready. We’ll get to some of those at the bottom of the show. But another game that we have up is a MAC contest, Bowling Green and Toledo, Toledo laying 15 1/2 as The MAC regular season winds down conference tournament seating coming. Total at 165 1/2. And this is interesting because we don’t see this that often. Mid Major Matt says, give me two. He is playing two different plays on this game. What do you like my friend?
TMatt Josephs:
I mean, I don’t have to go long winded here. Everybody who knows me on this show, everybody who knows me on Twitter, knows I’ve been the Toledo guy and the team total over has hit pretty much a lot during MAC play. Bowling Green, this is their last game of the season. We’ve seen some guys transfer out of the program. We’ve seen some guys leave, Gordon, Reece, they are both gone. This is a Bowling Green team that gave up 112 to Buffalo a couple of weeks ago. They regularly give up over 90. Now look how I usually play this. And the play is the first half team total over for Toledo and the game total over for Toledo. And how I would do it is take the… so let’s say your unit size is whatever, two units on a typical play like this.
TMatt Josephs:
I’m putting one unit on the first half and one unit on the game. So basically I’m splitting whatever you would normally bet on just the one play. Because look, there’s a chance that Toledo basically has a lot of fun the first half and the second half they start playing some other guys. So I want to cover myself in both angles. I mean, obviously look, if they don’t hit either of them then you know, oh well. But I’ve trust this Toledo team. They need to win tonight because they want to win this MAC thing outright. If they lose, there’s a chance they share it with Kent State. Toledo’s got the better offense. They scored over 40 points against Bowling Green. I think it was 48 the first time around in Bowling Green. So look very simple here. It’s the play that I’ve played all year. You should have a solid bank role from just playing the team total overs for Toledo. So I’m splitting up the unit size and doing half a unit on Toledo first half, half a unit on the game, they should roll tonight.
TJ Reeves:
Points, points, points. And again, as Matt said, if you’ve been with us on The BETUS College Basketball Show, he has been preaching from the pulpit about Toledo and the team overs and the over totals for their games. Bobano, any thoughts here? Again MAC, regular season wrapping up. Any thoughts?
Ian Cameron:
Final regular season home games, senior night, team that doesn’t play like a defense Bowling Green. It’s got all the recipe for Toledo just hanging a 90. Doesn’t it? In this game against that Bowling Green, I mean 353rd and points per game allowed. Bowling Green, just absolutely dreadful numbers. The fuel goal percentage allowance, terrible. By the way, Toledo’s a very good free throw shooting team, 77%. So that’s always key. If you’re going to get those trips to the line, you want teams making those free throws. That’s killed me in some team totals this year, just teams bricking at the free throw line. You shouldn’t get that from Toledo. So if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You’ve been riding Toledo team, total overs. I’m not going to say no.
TJ Reeves:
Pay attention. Kids Mid Major Matt is officially on two plays on this game. Not only the team total for the game, but also the team total for Toledo in the first half. So double the pleasure, double the fun here for Matt in this matchup tonight in The MAC. All right, we continue on another conference tournament play coming here. And this is the Southern Conference or the SoCon that is coming up next. They are beginning opening round play with Western Carolina and Mercer to the teams that are kind of at the bottom, neutral floor Asheville, North Carolina. And this is a 6 1/2 point line for the Mercer Bears to be favored by on the neutral floor. The total is 142 1/2. Ian Cameron though, may be going against the grain a little bit here. What is your thought Bobano on this Southern Conference opening game, tournament game.
Ian Cameron:
Yeah. And one thing I’ve not scared to do, especially with conference tournament betting is going against the market move. And I’m going against this one. I don’t trust Mercer laying 6 1/2, seven in this spot. You look at them as favorites here in this conference, it hasn’t been pretty and they haven’t been favored very often because they’re not one of the better teams in this conference, but here’s the track record with Mercer laying points here in the SoCon, 4 1/2 point favorites January 5th against Sanford, one by three, 10 point favorites against Western Carolina at home, one by eight, 6 1/2 point favorites at Western Carolina in the rematch just recently they lost outright, 6 1/2 point home favorites against Citadel, they lost outright. I mean they have one point spread cover and conference play out of six tries as favorites. And I don’t think there’s seven points a difference on a neutral court right now with these two teams head to head.
Ian Cameron:
In fact, Western Carolina has covered three straight coming into this game. They already beat Mercer at home. They covered against Greensboro. They’ve won outright against VMI as home underdogs, 82-73 their last game. Their offense has picked up. Their defense was really bad early in conference play, but you go really and look from February 7th onward, other than Furman hanging a century mark on them 103, they only gave up 65 to Chattanooga. They gave up 69 to Wofford. They beat Mercer, held them 20 and 54 and 65 points. 73 to a VMI team, that’s very good offensively. VMI only shot 23 of 61, that’s a bad shooting night for the Keydets with what they can do. You know, Western Carolina’s one of those teams, we’ve kind of threw them in the garbage early in the conference season, early February, but they’ve started to get better and they’re playing their best ball right now against a Mercer team that you see, the track record is favorites, especially moderate favorites like these. Happen to win the game by margin. It’s not good. So I like Western here. It’s just too many points.
TJ Reeves:
Compelling case, an argument that he made. Matt, do you have any thoughts of no official play?
TMatt Josephs:
I don’t see any problem with it. You know, the big, what if, for Mercer is what happens if Neftali Alvarez was healthy all year? I mean, they didn’t have him. Then he comes back and then he gets hurt again. Now he’s out. And whenever I look at these teams in the tournament, especially early, you want to see good form mentoring. We’ll talk about this a little bit for a game coming up and Mercer’s lost six of their last eight. And Western Carolina’s not exactly in good form either, but as long as Nick Robinson’s playing, which it was good to see him in that VMI game, they’ve won two of their last three, so at least momentum is on their side and heck Western Carolina’s probably used to playing in front of empty gymnasium. So I don’t see a problem here. I don’t love necessarily going against moves like that. Especially, this is not one of those bonus board kind of games, this is usually up top so that I’m not as worried about here, but if Ian’s confident in it, yeah, I could see it.
TJ Reeves:
All right. Interesting. I know you guys are big into the futures. I don’t have the odds in front of me on what the futures are, but Furman at the top of this conference, along with East Tennessee State and a couple of others, the tournament is not underway yet. Do we think this is chalk by the time we get to Monday? And the championship game or where might it upset minded team be? That might be a good future’s play. If either one of you have one of those. Fill up just real quick.
TMatt Josephs:
If Jake Stevens is healthy for VMI, I like VMI. They’ve got wins over the one seed and the two seed. But the problem is you’re not going to know until tip off of that game against Wofford if he’s playing, and you probably won’t have any value if that’s even still up but he makes such a big difference. The key that’s… Here’s the thing and I just noticed this, four of the top five teams in the country in three point shot percentage are in this conference, AKA, the only four teams in the country who 50% of their shots are more, our three pointers are in this conference. So to me, whoever gets hot is going to win this thing. And that includes the Citadel, that includes anybody because if you’re going to hit your threes, you’re going to be unstoppable in this conference. Now Furman’s up there as well. So I like Furman in this one. I think VMI is a long shot if Stevens is healthy.
TJ Reeves:
Fair enough. Ian, did you have any thought or are we just going to lock you in here?
Ian Cameron:
VMI is a good one. Is if you really want to go bargain bin shopping, I mean 130 to one on Citadel if they get red hot, but Sanford keep an eye on them. This is actually a team we’ve talked about. Jeff has talked about Sanford a lot on this show, I know that. And he’s backed them a few times. 20 to one, there’s another team kind of like not so much Western because Western still lost some games. We’re just talking about covering numbers, but Sanford’s actually won games. Sanford’s actually beaten some decent competition down the stretch. So Sanford might be a good luck. And in this conference, in any of these smaller conferences, I’m looking more at longer shots, especially a conference like, they’re not playing today, but the Horizon League, that has been known for the number one seed and the number two seed getting bounced and knocked out of there early. I mean longer shots in the smaller, Mid-Major Conference Tournaments. I’m not laying chalk in the Mid-Major smaller Conference Tournaments, rarely when it comes to-
TJ Reeves:
I can, on your point on the Horizon League and again, I will be part of the National Broadcast of the Horizon League championship game. Tuesday night on TuneIn on the streaming app, free plug there on the National Digital Coverage. I’ve done this tournament six previous times. And like the last four times, the one seat has definitely not been there. And there’ve been several years where the one or the two aren’t there. And sometimes it’s a team with a losing record. So the Horizon is known for being wide open. Let’s see what will happen when we come to that, they play their semi-finals Monday night in Indianapolis and then come back around with a championship game on Tuesday night. Again, the official play from Ian here is Western Carolina in this game with Mercer, Southern Conference Friday night game, it gets it going. They progress all the way through the weekend and play the championship game Monday. One more Bobano real quick.
Ian Cameron:
Yeah, I mean the head says Furman or Chattanooga win’s this conference tournament. They’re far and away the two best teams, but I’m not laying chalk and know those prices in a futures market, in a conference tournament like this. So if you’re going to look for value, I’d say VMI, like Matt said, I think that’s a decent option along with Sanford.
TJ Reeves:
No doubt. All right, move on to another game. And this one again in the Missouri Valley, as Southern Illinois and Drake. Drake was one of the teams in that tiebreaker with also Loyola Chicago and another team that were all right behind Northern Iowa. So Drake ends up playing Southern Illinois in they’re opening game. They’re laying 3 1/2 neutral floor in St. Louis, the total at 127. Ian, we’re back to you for another official play and what is that for tonight?
Ian Cameron:
Yeah, I mean, for me, I think this is another underdog that’s live in this matchup here. In fact, these two teams are playing each other two straight times. They ended the regular season playing each other head to head and Southern Illinois lost by two at Drake, 62 to 60, just this past weekend. Now they’re playing each other here in the quarters of the Missouri Valley Tournament. It’s been a tough matchup for Drake. One point victory for Drake at Southern Illinois in Carbondale back in January 17th and then February 26, 62-60 in the rematch, just this past weekend. There’s a key injury to a Drake that’s concerning as well. Potential, he may not suit up Wilkins in this game. You look at Southern Illinois kind of like what I said about Bradley, not a gifted offensive team at times, but they’ve played pretty solid defense.
Ian Cameron:
You know, Drake, when I look at them offensively, they’ve kind of underwhelmed at times down the stretch now. Still, Tucker DeVries is very good player. Trey Hemphill, Stutz, they’ve got some good players that can make a difference for them offensively, but I don’t love the form necessarily of Drake down the stretch. You know, they didn’t cover against Valpo. They struggled in both meetings with Southern Illinois to win them at all, let alone win by margin. You know, it’s been a kind of an overvalued point spread team coming into a conference play. And I think when look at the way Southern Illinois matches up with them, they’ve got a little size, little length to really bother Drake here in this game. And I think they have the potential to win this game outright. I think Drake trending in a little bit of a bad way at the moment. Kind of like I said, with Loyola a minute ago, I’ll take the Salukis here plus 3 1/2. I think there’s outright win potential for them.
TJ Reeves:
All right. Live dog on the neutral floor. Matt, any thoughts here? If no official play real quick?
TMatt Josephs:
I don’t love playing back to back games. I understand like there’s plenty of time and everything. I just don’t love it because the results… I mean, we saw so much last year when teams play back to back in conference, that the results that you expected in game two, carrying game one came in game two and so on and so forth, but it wouldn’t be Arch Madness without the big time Drake injury and the DJ Wilkins injury is huge, because he is one of their best perimeter defenders here.
TMatt Josephs:
But like they’ve had some time since it happened on Friday or Saturday to fix things a little bit. No real opinion here. I mean look, if you look off the scores, they were very close both times. I’ll just say this, the one game Drake had a 17 point lead and they let it go. And the second game they had a 13 point lead and they let it go. That’s my only worry is that they were able to get up big on both games. So you’re either playing the fact that Drake getting those leads means more or Southern Illinois closing the gap on those games means more.
TJ Reeves:
All right, we will find that out. Ian is on the play. He is on Southern Illinois as the live dog if not for the upset here. In the Missouri Valley Tournament, that is a night session game in St. Louis for that always competitive tournament. Again, get your questions and answers ready. We’ll answer some as well about the weekend games, including my Memphis Tiger’s huge game with Houston for their at large hopes. There’s some other interesting games in the SEC, the big 10, et cetera, that are ending up on this weekend. The big 12 as well, the Big 12 title’s still on the line. So we’ll get to some questions and answers in a few elements. One more game to go on our official docket. It is a West Coast Conference Tournament game. Las Vegas is the neutral floor for Portland and San Diego on the opening night of the tournament. This is a one point spread here. Portland favored by one. The total is 139 and we got both Handicappers on this game. Mid Major Matt begin for us on what you like and why.
TMatt Josephs:
Look, I like this Pilots’s team a lot. I think that they got hosed on the WCC coach of the year, Shantay Legans, should have been coach of the year. Randy Bennett did what they predicted. I’m pretty sure the preseason poll had St Mary’s finishing second. They finished second. The Portland Pilots did not finish where they were supposed to. And look, this is one of those things where I love getting momentum and I’ve made a lot of money with this team. Especially the last time they played San Diego, they beat them by 32. And then you look at that game back in January 13th, when they lost in overtime, Portland was up 17 in the first half of that one, and then eventually Portland got back into it. And that was before Portland kind of figured themselves out here.
TMatt Josephs:
Look, even in the game they lost to Santa Clara was 102-89 and San Diego is not poor Santa Clara when it comes to offense here. I love this tea now that Mike Meadows is healthy. You know, Austin, Robertson, Wood. It’s not a deep team, but I don’t care because this is the first game of the tournament here. And then the one thing that Ian said from earlier in the show, Portland’s the second best free throw shooting team in America, 81.5% from the free throw line. Now look, I’m cautious and obviously Ian is too because he’s playing the same thing. I’m playing the Portland Moneyline. I just need them to win. I understand minus one, the Moneyline, but like a back door three, you get a push instead of a win. I’m taking the Moneyline here. Portland’s the hot team right now. San Diego got a win last night, that’s great. But they beat Pepperdine. Who cares? I could be Pepperdine. So like give me Portland tonight.
TJ Reeves:
As Matt alluded to, Bobano I think is nodding a long in agreement. How much are you in agreement here about out the side?
Ian Cameron:
Well, forget the side for a minute. I’m 1000% in agreement with what he said before about the coach of the year award should go to Shantay Legans. This was a rebuild job of epic proportions for him going into this year. It was laid in the dumpster, this program, it was in the toilet. Let’s be honest. Terry Porter left it in the absolute toilet. This Portland pilot’s program. It was a dreadful program for the last few years. It’s been in shambles and yeah, early in the season, it was a struggle for Portland, but a revamped roster. Legans doesn’t even have fully his guys into this program yet. His recruits just fully yet. And look at the improvement we’ve seen throughout the stretch of the West Coast Conference season. They beat San Francisco on the road. You got to give them big ups for that. They were 18 point dogs. They won 69-68. And since that’s the game that really started this little point spread run, actually they lost to San Francisco in a close one at home in the first meeting. And that’s what really sparked this point spread run.
Ian Cameron:
And I started to take notice of it. And I said, “We got to start jumping on this team and backing them.” And then I got on them against Loyola Marymount, San Diego. I stayed off against Pepperdine because they were laying a big number, which was good. Jump back on them against specific. I did take them against Santa Clara the last weekend 102-89, they lost. But they were covering most of that game, but defense wasn’t good. That’s the one concern. They still struggle at the defensive end of the floor, but this is going to be a much weaker offensive team that you’re playing. I mean the San Diego Toreros to say they’re a weak offensively is putting it mildly. They’re only 302 in the country points per game. I think that’s definitely going to be an issue.
Ian Cameron:
What I like about Portland too is, hey competitively line game. I don’t think they’re going to run away and hide, but I think they’ve got more scoring options. Like if it’s going to be a close game, who do I want? I want the team, that’s going to put the ball in the basket for me. All right. Who’s going to score some points for me? I think Portland can do that easier than San Diego. And what I also like about Portland, number two in the entire country, free throw shooting percentage 80.6% from the free throw line. So if this game is close, Portland’s going to sync those free throws to help the cause. So this was a game I was actually going to put on the sheet, but I sent my game in overnight. There was no line yet for this game. So thanks to Matt for adding it. And I saw he was on Portland, I’m like, “Good thing.” Because I’m on that same side too. I like Portland. I’ve been riding them. We’re going to see if we can cash with them one more time here.
TJ Reeves:
All right. So we’ll lock both guys in at the same time on the Moneyline for the Portland Pilots tonight, West Coast Conference Tournament game, 11:00 Eastern Time, 8:00 PM Vegas Time. And again, this is the tournament that… I mean Matt, I was saying this earlier. I think you’re in agreement, Ian. I don’t know that you were on board when we were talking about this, Matt and Jeff and I were talking about this. I think you can make the argument in the West Coast Conference. That one to six, they are as good as or better than the Pac-12. One to six and Portland may belong in that group. BYU was the first game up tonight on the floor in the opening round of the West Coast Conference Tournament playing Loyola Marymount. I think this is a solid conference. It’s probably got three teams in the NCAA tournament guys. Yes.
Ian Cameron:
Yep. I it’s a good Tour… It’s a much better… This conference has constantly gotten better the last few years. 10 years ago, 15 years ago, you can talk all the smack you want about the West Coast Conference being a crappy conference, Gonzaga and nobody else, but not anymore. San Francisco can play, Santa Clara with Herb Sendek is putting things together. BYU, Gonzaga, St. Mary, Portland’s going to be, I think in the next two years, they’re going to be in the upper echelon of this conference with this coach, because he’s that good. So this is a better conference. No doubt.
TJ Reeves:
All right, Matt, you are at three bids. Yes, definitely going to be three out of the West Coast when we see it?
TMatt Josephs:
With a chance for a fourth. Yeah. Depending upon what BYU does. Yeah. BYU, San Francisco, St Mary’s and Gonzaga.
TJ Reeves:
Love all that. Both boys are on the Moneyline for this matchup tonight with Portland and San Diego on a Friday night. All right, let’s get into some of the questions and answers. I’m sure there will be plenty. Get those going. Some of you’ve already been doing so in the chat, we’ll get to a couple of them now. Jeffrey goes back to The MAC. Jeffrey’s watching live here in the 1:00 Eastern Time hour and says, “What about Buffalo ,Kent State? Kent laying the three,” either one of you in opinion on that real quick?
TMatt Josephs:
So I kind of like the over a little bit and I kind of like Kent State. Kent State, I mean obviously, Jeff and I have gone back and forth on this because Kent State’s is the only team that’s beaten Toledo as of late, so automatically gets my respect. But like you look at this team since they lost that game to Buffalo, 64-51, they’ve steamrolled everybody. Now, other than the Toledo win, there hasn’t been great wins over that spam. But you know, Kent State wants to keep this game down, but we’ve noticed that times at home, they’ve played a little bit faster.
TMatt Josephs:
The Ball State game saw 75 possessions. The Bowling Green game saw 78 possessions. So I feel like the over is in play here. And I think, look, revenge is sweet here for Kent State. And by the way, also in that game, Garcia and Santiago did not play. And there’s such a different team without both of those guys. I feel like the Moneyline comes into play. Once again, juice tolerance in terms of, do you want to lay that much juice? A lot of people don’t. But the minus three is a little much, I think it could be a close game, but I like the over and I kind of like Kent State in this one.
TJ Reeves:
All right. And I believe he was also asking about another game. I don’t know that I have that here at the moment. We’ll double check on what the other game was that Jeffrey was asking about. But again, The MAC tournament is going to be wild as well as you guys have continued to talk about up at the top of it, especially with Toledo and the play that’s going on here tonight. I’m also curious about tonight Murray State, just an opinion from both of you, Murray State’s in action and the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. They’re playing Southeast Missouri State tonight. They’re heavily favored. This in Evansville, Indiana at the Ford Center. I believe Murray State has done enough to get themselves in at large. You’re in agreement guys on this?
Ian Cameron:
I think so. I’m but I like the dog here believe it or not, CMO. Murray State’s not been great double digit chalk lately. You actually look, they’ve been struggling in this road. Now you could say that was a wake up call that CMO almost beat them last weekend. And now they’re going to come out and put the boots to them. You know, I’m not so sure about that. CMO’s been playing much better defensively down the stretch. I think it’s a lot of points. And the one thing I’ve will never do, I will never do, is lay 15 points or more on a neutral court in a conference tournament. I don’t care who’s playing who. I don’t care if it’s the best against the worst. In a neutral court conference tournament, I’m not laying 15. That many points, simple as that. I think that is actually some value with CMO.
TJ Reeves:
All right Matt, a thought here on Murray State at large. 23 in the net ranking, they are only two and one in quad one, but they haven’t had that many opportunities. No bad losses, thought on them at large right now?
TMatt Josephs:
I think they would belong in. I would say I would not recommend they lose until the title game, but I mean, I think a loss tonight wouldn’t completely eliminate them. Although it would be a bad taste in terms of everybody seeing the last game they played with CMO. And by the way, once again, this is another one of those games where they’ve played already back to back. And look, I wouldn’t lay double digits, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if as Ian said, like Murray State realizes, “Yeah, we should have beaten these guys by a lot more.” And they come out and they steamroll them and just remember, make everybody remind how good they are as a team. So it’s an easy game for me to pass as the board has so many other opportunities right now.
TJ Reeves:
Okay. The same viewer Jeffrey was asking about Citadel East, Tennessee State. And he was asking specifically about Citadel and the points and the five points on the neutral floor in Asheville. That’s a Southern Conference earlier in the day game, 5:00 Eastern Time game. Any thought on playing Citadel? I know not officially, but any thought for the viewer that’s watching?
Ian Cameron:
Yeah. I mean, for me, when I look at this Citadel, it’s all about… they’re make making their threes, that’s important. They haven’t necessarily been great, 33.3%. ETSU has given up the three ball, 38.6%. I lean to Citadel too. I mean, always more underdog centric in conference terms, but I think that the points might be worth a look here. Citadel’s coming off getting absolutely steamrolled by Furman a 94-59. I mean, they just had a terrible offensive game, but you know, Furman, a pretty good basketball team.
Ian Cameron:
ETSU’s picked it up though. They played better down the stretch. It’s just, I don’t like what I’m seeing from the ETSU three point defense, the last few games. I think they could hang around. See, I kind of was interested in an over here, but the more I looked into it, Citadel’s been heavily trending under, six straight unders and those two head to head meetings, neither one got into the 150s, earlier this year with these two teams head to head. Then I saw the total 151 1/2, 152. I’m like, wow. It feels like you’re paying a tax here if you like the over. So I ended up passing just to lean to the Citadel.
TJ Reeves:
All right, fair enough. Matt, any thoughts there on that or you want to move on?
TMatt Josephs:
You can move on.
TJ Reeves:
Move along. Darius, wants to know again, back to The MAC, Ohio laying the 10 with Northern Illinois, is this a situation again where you’re betting a game just to bet a game? Is there a real strategic play here on laying the 10 late season, regular season, wrapping up in The MAC?
TMatt Josephs:
So Northern Illinois is done. They can’t move on. It’s top eight, move on to Cleveland or Ohio, whatever generic city it is in Ohio. So Northern Illinois, I mean, you’re basically, if you’re betting on Northern Illinois, you’re betting on pride. Ohio is 14 and five. They’re a game behind Kent State. So that at least makes things interesting and they can hold off Buffalo, although Ohio beat Buffalo. So that’ll help out. Easier games, better games on the board to bet than that one, because in that, you’re basically saying, “All right, if you’re betting Ohio, you’re hoping Northern Illinois at home is just going to lay down and die. Or if you’re betting Northern Illinois, you’re hoping that they actually have some interest in this game tonight.”
TJ Reeves:
We’ll get to a couple of Saturday and Sunday games. Ian, any thought here real quick or just pass.
Ian Cameron:
I think, see Ohio, it’s not like it’s, “Wow, we’ve really got to win this game.” But at the same time, there’s a quality team that’s lost two in a row. And I think they may not totally look past Northern Illinois, but am I rush on to late 10? No. I only play the Bobcats, but no, not at that number.
TJ Reeves:
All right. Another viewer is asking about St Bonaventure off that loss badly to VCU earlier in the week.
Ian Cameron:
I got some points on this one.
TJ Reeves:
St Bonaventure, Friday night game here with Richmond and G Martinez says, “Hey, I’m interested in St Bonaventure and laying the points.” Matt, a thought real quick there?
TMatt Josephs:
All right. So here’s my thought here. And we’ve talked about Richmond a lot and I wanted to put this game on there but the Osun Osunniyi injury is hanging over and Mike Corey just tweeted it on Twitter that he saw in practicing today. And now he’s still a game time decision, but that makes a huge difference in this game. Because you just saw VCU lived in the paint in the Siegel Center against The Bonnie. Based off of motivation, St Bonaventure needs to win to keep a top four seed, which they need because obviously they play seven players, six at the most usually.
TMatt Josephs:
Richmond’s locked in at the six seed. So a win doesn’t do anything. A loss doesn’t really do anything. It’s already been a miserable season for them. The two teams played at the Robert Center. It was a 71-61 game, but Tyler Burton did all the heavy lifting. He had 36 of the 71 points. The rest of the team didn’t do very much. And St Bonaventure was St Bonaventure, they shot pretty well. They just couldn’t get the stops against Richmond. This number’s going to go up once the Osunniyi news comes out. So if you like St Bonaventure, I take them now. I actually like the Bonnies a little bit in the first half. Senior night momentum having to win this game. Richmond has nothing to play for. I kind of like St Bonaventure in the first half, we’ve seen The Spiders lay some eggs, especially at home in the first half, maybe in this road game that means so much to St Bonaventure, they do so. And essentially a no win situation for The Spiders who are locked in as the six seed.
TJ Reeves:
All right, Ian real quick, a thought on this, if no official play?
Ian Cameron:
And this is not your average senior night, this is a upperclassman loaded St Bonaventure team. This is going to be emotions. This is going to be all kinds of excitement in that building tonight in Olean. This is not your average senior night. I mean, Lofton, all these guys, so many seniors on this team, and I think they come out here and take care of Richmond. Now this was going to be on the sheet as an official play but as Matt mentioned, Osun Osunniyi is a big deal for the St Bonaventure team. And his status is very important. But after losing with Richmond on this show at VCU a few weeks ago, I was finally ready to admit, they’re gutless, they’re soft this Richmond team, and I think are ready for a pounding tonight at St Bonaventure. A fired up experienced upperclassmen dominated team on a senior night, an emotional night with a lot at stake as Matt mentioned in terms of seating for the A-10 Tournament. I think laying the points is a great bet. And it’s an even better bet if Osunniyi plays.
TJ Reeves:
All right. Fair enough. On that. By the way, an observation, we’re live here in the 1:00 Eastern Time hour on Friday. If you’re watching later, you obviously are going to know the results when we’re talking about this. I’m peeking at the game that Ian is peeking at in Longwood, 15 and one in the Big South, we’ve already seen upsets. They are still tied with North Carolina, A&T late in the game with three minutes to go or so, 57 a piece. Get ready. We’re going to see 10 games this weekend and next weekend, before we ever get to the NCAA tournament, that you’re going to go, how did that happen? I mean, how does that team lose? How does that top seat lose? How did they blow that game? How did they blow that lead?
Ian Cameron:
[crosstalk 00:43:30] That’s how it happened.TJ Reeves:
It’s the madness. There’s there’s no doubt. All right, quickly on to Saturday I know Matt’s going to roll his eyes about the SEC. Interesting, the tournament is coming here, Florida hosting Kentucky. We believe Kentucky will be the road favorite. We don’t have lines right now live on the Friday show. Kentucky though, probably guys like a three point favorite, something like that, maybe a little more at Florida. It’s a monstrously important game for Florida. It’s a quad 1 game for them if they can get it at home. Guys, what do you think about the line? Gators need it more than Kentucky, Kentucky also jocking for seating at the SEC tournament.
Ian Cameron:
Yeah, for me, you know what? I don’t trust Florida in a big game. And Kentucky, Kentucky could have beat Arkansas if JD Notae doesn’t go off for 30 points last week against Arkansas. They needed every single one of those points from him too in that game, because Kentucky only lost by a couple of points. And that was by far his best shooting performance of the season for Notae for The Razorbacks and that victory. Kentucky to me is better than Florida. And I don’t trust Florida to beat teams of this caliber, even on their home floor, and even though they need the game, I just don’t trust them. So I’m not going to be looking at the home team there.
TJ Reeves:
All right, Matt, any thoughts or just move on on that?
TMatt Josephs:
As he said, I don’t trust Florida. So now look, Florida did win the home game against Auburn. They needed everything to win that game. But I don’t trust. I mean, based off of Kenpom it’s about a six point line. That’s a little healthy there, but I don’t trust Florida in a big game. So no, this won’t be on my card on Saturday, but based off of Kenpom, six point line is what to expect.
Ian Cameron:
And Oscar Tshiebwe, I think can do neutralized Castleton a little bit. And if that happens, I don’t like Florida’s chances.
TJ Reeves:
And they handled them in the first matchup, as you were alluding to in large part because of that. And Tshiebwe was tremendous in that first matchup. All right, you got to be proud of me that we’ve gone the full 45 minutes and I haven’t mentioned Coach K’s final game against North Carolina. And Cameron,
Ian Cameron:
[crosstalk 00:45:33].TJ Reeves:
… it will be very much a love Fest ESPN, the ACC Network, et cetera. Interesting though, that Duke’s probably going to be at least a 10, 12 point favorite, maybe more in this to blow North Carolina out. Any chance here that there’s so much emotion with everything going on, that Carolina plays lose, plays free as the underdog and maybe keeps it close guys. And no official play, but any thoughts there? Not having seen a line?
TMatt Josephs:
No.
Ian Cameron:
I’d bet over if anything, I wouldn’t touch a side because Duke might pile it on, right? It’s Coach K’s grand finale, final home game ever at Cameron in Durham. And if they have a chance to rub North Carolina… Because that’s what they did in the first meeting and I cash with the over because of that, they just kept scoring the points even when they were up 20, 25, they’re pushing the ball down the floor, getting easy layups right around the rim. You could see that again. That’s the only thing I’d maybe look at end this game. But will I bet it? Maybe, maybe not. Will I watch it? I probably won’t. I can’t take it. Like ESPN is doing this pre-game thing and they’re showing the whole ceremony before the game, they’re showing after the game, when he does his final procession, waves to the crowd and has his final speech. Please, there’s going to be 10 million other games going on. I’ll be watching those at that time. Thank you very much.
TJ Reeves:
Understood Matt, any thought there on North Carolina as a possible hefty dog or you want to move on?
TMatt Josephs:
I mean, this one’s going to probably, Kenpom has as 12, it’s going to open up at like 11 or whatever and the public’s going to shoot that thing up to like 16, because everybody’s going to blindly bet it. So if you do want to take Duke, literally make sure you’re there the moment the line comes out because it’s going to… that number’s going to disappear. The officials aren’t going to let him lose, the NCAA’s not going to let him lose. Duke’s going to win by a lot. But yeah, Ian’s right, I mean the over’s probably the way to go and that’s probably going to shoot up too the moment it comes out. So if you want to bet on this game, be there the moment the line comes out or else you might as well just walk away.
TJ Reeves:
All right. Good advice on that. Matt, is there a Saturday, Mid-Major game that you have your eyes on? Conference tournaments, yes. But also some other Mid-Major Conferences are wrapping up. Anything that stands out even though we don’t have a line for it necessarily for Saturday?
TMatt Josephs:
Well, I mean, I think you know, the early on you’ve got the summit league quarter finals with the Dakotas who I think are the two favorites there or Roberts also could make things interesting because Max Abmas could win a game, but like the Northeast semifinals. Long Island’s a hot team right now. And I think they have a potential to go into Wagner and make things interesting. The over in that game’s going to be very interesting because Wagner wants to play it slower, but they have invited teams like Bryant and Long Island to run a little bit. So I really like Long Island potentially, I like the over in that game. Bryant’s got Mount St. Mary’s. Remember Mount St. Mary’s last year, went to Bryant and went to Wagner and won the championship and a lot of those guys are back. Malik Jefferson is back, Nana Opoku’s back. So if Mount St. Mary’s can keep this game at their pace instead of Bryan’s pace, Mount St. Mary’s could spring another upset once again in the Northeast Conference.
TJ Reeves:
Fair enough. Ian same question. Another game that I have and mentioned that you’re interested in Saturday, even if you don’t have a line that you got your eyes on?
Ian Cameron:
Yeah. I agree with him on Long Island Brooklyn. I think they could be a live dog against Wagner and that NEC semi. The other one I think it’s Bryant’s time. I do. And remember, they got knocked out by Mount St. Mary’s last year. A lot of those guys are back but I think they’re absolute best player from that team last year is not. He did not return from Mount St. Mary’s and I think it’s Bryan’s time. They’ve been talking all week long and they’re focused, it was a bad feel, bad taste to lose in that title game last year. I think they’ll get it done there against Mount St. Mary’s. In terms of other things I’m looking at here tomorrow, it’s going to be an interesting point. I’m really focusing more on conference tournaments quite a bit. When I look at it, I mean, Arkansas, Little Rock pulled a pretty surprising upset in The Sun Belt. Keep an eye on them.
Ian Cameron:
VMI in Wofford. VMI is an interesting side for me. I’m kind of interested in what number we get with the key debts there against Wofford in the quarters of the SoCon Tournament tomorrow. So that’s an interesting one to keep an eye as well. As far as the major conference stuff, like I said, I’m not interested in Florida. I’d look at the over in the game between Duke and North Carolina. I’d honestly look at a Miami team total over against Syracuse. Syracuse is still struggling defensively obviously. Jim Boeheim’s calling out his center saying, “Our center suck.” That’s always nice to hear that put publicly.
TMatt Josephs:
They do.
Ian Cameron:
He’s not wrong.
TJ Reeves:
The truth hurts.
Ian Cameron:
They do. I mean, Miami is one of those teams, they actually better offensively this year than they are defensively. That’s not typically the case under Larrañaga, but it’s been the case since-
TJ Reeves:
And Bobano-
Ian Cameron:
… total’s worth a look, I think
TJ Reeves:
Here’s another game too, where this means more for Miami’s resume if they lose it to Syracuse. You got to be careful and they already played one of these with Boston College and won it. You got to be careful on the resume here that you could blow one at the end that cost you in the eyes of the selection committee with selection Sunday, nine days away. All right, let’s circle back and get to our best bets before we get out of here for a Friday, it was a busy show. There are numerous official plays, including the Handicappers being on the same game that is Portland.
TJ Reeves:
Portland and the West Coast Conference game later tonight, they’re both on the Moneyline for that. Matt has two plays on Toledo, first half and the overall team total. And you see a couple of underdogs, three of them as a matter of fact, for Ian in conference tournament. Play a couple of them at the Missouri Valley Conference. One of them at the Southern Conference, keep an eye on those guys. We are ready to go. We are going to be in the throws of championship week when we come back on Monday on this show. Any final thoughts before we are done here for a Friday, with all these conference tournaments in the smaller conferences, especially getting underway and automatic bids going out tomorrow, Sunday, Monday, cannot wait. Anything else guys?
Ian Cameron:
No, that’s about it. I just got to say good luck this weekend. Thanks for watching. And hit the like button and next week on the show, we’ll have the major conferences bringing a boat conference tournament play so great times, it’s the month of March. No better time.
TJ Reeves:
Yeah, no doubt that there’s going to be a lot of craziness. Matt, any final thoughts before we end it?
TMatt Josephs:
Everybody wants to know real quick about the Morehead State game. I think Morehead States live, the game they lost at Belmont, they were up double digits in the second half. They beat them at home as well. I feel like Morehead States’ a little alive in this one. Belmont’s not as good as they have been in the past.
Ian Cameron:
I’m in a full agreement. I mean, I’d only take Morehead. Look at the matchup. Belmont’s not shown any ability to beat Morehead, let alone win beat them by margin, which they have to do here. And I know Morehead knocked the More to the Ohio Valley Tournament last year, but Belmont has had no ability to beat Morehead State by margin. It’s been a bad matchup repeatedly for them. The athleticism I think of the Eagles has been an issue. And even Murray State, Murray athletic team is a little bit than Belmont. They’ve given them trouble. I would look at the dog there as well if I’m betting it.
TJ Reeves:
I’m just peeking too. Welcome to March in the end, the Longwood number one seat again, 15 in one in the Big South. The Longwood, North Carolina, A&T game still tied, 63 all in the final seconds. Over time maybe looming again. Wow. Just welcome to March.
Ian Cameron:
Just overtime in that conference tournament. Wow.
TJ Reeves:
Welcome to March with all of these different games. All right. With that, we’re good. Ian Cameron, thank you Bobano, we appreciate you sitting in for the Big Man on Campus, Jeff Nadu. He’ll be back on Monday. Mid Major Matt you’ll be back with us Monday as well. Have a great weekend. Matt, have a great weekend, Ian. Thank you boys.
