College Football Week 15 Picks and Predictions | Best NCAA Football Odds & Game Analysis

TJ Rives:

Well, hello there and welcome back we are the American’s sportsbook BetUs, today we have the BetUS College Basketball Show. I am the somewhat rested on about 3 1/2 hour sleep after Monday night football and working the win by the Buccaneers, somewhat capable host, TJ Rives. Of course, I’m going to come in with the Buccaneer lid on after Tom Brady leads a 13 point comeback. We had them all the way. Matt Cox and Corbie Craig had them all the way last night. Dear Lord. All right, so the Buccaneers get a win in NFL action. Now here we are to talk some College Hoops. You’re here for the College Hoops on BetUS weekdays at 11:00 AM. Corbie Craig, you’re back aboard for another edition. Good to be back with you. Nice call. You had a nice call on an under total in a game involving Portland last night, back aboard for some more plays on a Tuesday. How you feeling Corbie?

Corbie Craig:

Yes, sir. That’s some good memory right there off three hours. Portland… It was good. I think they covered by like 25 points. I don’t know if you consider that lucky or a good bet, so we’ll take it either way.

TJ Rives:

We’ll take the wins. It’s just like Tom Brady baby. They don’t ask you how, they just ask, “Did you?” Matty Cox, how you feeling for a Tuesday? Good to have you back.

Matt Cox:

Feeling good. Got a big slate tonight. Only two days this week we actually have a full slate of games. Monday, Thursday and Friday are pre lights. So trying to find winners tonight and tomorrow.

TJ Rives:

Well, you were not here, and in your absence yesterday we literally talked about every game on the card because it was that puny. It was not that many games. Today and tonight is much different. Hey, Matty, give me a thought off the weekend because this is the first time that we’ve had you here. We’ve had a lot of different action on the weekend, including Kentucky and Michigan going all the way to London like we talked about, some top 25 games, some upsets on Sunday. Any thought… We’ll even include Monday if you like. Any thought going off the weekend and into Tuesday?

Matt Cox:

I’ll be honest, I thought Memphis was very impressive. So I know your Tigers are… You hold Penny and the boys near and dear to your heart. They were monstrously impressive against Ole Miss, a team I thought would give them trouble. I think this might be his best team he’s had since he’s been back in the-

TJ Rives:

They can’t make threes. They were 1 of 15 at home shooting three, but yet still won the game. And as I always like to say, boys, anytime Memphis can win and Ole Miss can lose in the same building, it’s a big time Saturday night and that’s exactly what happened in the River City the other night. All right, so enough about the past, let’s talk about the present. But first, let’s take a look at the records. Coming off of what happened on Monday with Corbie getting his win, Mid-major [inaudible 00:02:21] came up just short with Troy on the team total against San Diego State, but they escaped. San Diego State only won by five in that game. Corbie, above 500, Matty Cox right at 500. The show’s still over 500. As we get ready for the slate today, we got Jimmy V Classic Games involving Illinois, separately involving Duke. We got those to talk about. We got another Big Ten matchup to talk about along the way on the official plays on the show. Are you boys ready to do it?

Are we ready to get into these games and the slate for a Tuesday? By the way, if you’ve just found us, we’re here live Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM, Eastern Time. It’s a benchmark. We’re here on BetUSTV. Get in the live chat, hit that like button, make sure you’re subscribing, sharing it out. The live audience continues to do very well, even on a light card on Monday. We did very well with the live audience. Get some questions and answers ready. There’ll be time for your participation. So again, thank you for finding us live. And with that, guys, you’re ready? We good? Let’s get into it.

For a Tuesday slate and get to some NCAAF odds and to some games. Game number one that we’ll discuss is Illinois and Texas, and the aforementioned Jimmy V Classic. First of the doubleheader at Madison Square Garden, Texas, a 2 1/2 point favorite on the neutral floor. The Horns at 139 1/2 for the total with Illinois. There’s not an official play in this one. Corbie Craig, I’m going to begin with you. Any thoughts though on this matchup between Horns and a Illini?

Corbie Craig:

Yeah, this line keeps falling. I believe it opened four for Texas. KenPom has it five, so 2 1/2’s a little interesting. I have said I believe since the start of this show that I just am not a big fan of this Illinois team. I’ve thought that they are overrated coming into the season and they’ve kind of proven me wrong with some good wins versus UCLA, Syracuse, which I mean really doesn’t mean much but they held them to 44. So this Illinois team is one that I don’t have the right number on. I had this at Texas at 5 1/2. I’m trying to stay away from Illinois until I get adjusted and figure out what this team really is.

TJ Rives:

For this Texas team, Matty Cox, a big win for them over Creighton in a hotly contested game. A very impressive win by 19 over Gonzaga at home. This is a neutral floor, obviously. Thoughts on the matchup, Texas and Illinois?

Matt Cox:

Yeah, I liked Illinois at the opener. I’ve been Illinois backer for most of the year, but it’s been bet down as Corbie alluded to it that the current price around 2 1/2, 3, I can’t endorse this. Matchup wise, Illinois got big long guards that can handle and maybe throw over the pressure that Texas throws at you defensively, which is kind of their key to success. They can get it inside, they should have an edge upfront, but the question is, can you handle Texas pressure? Few teams, if any, have proven that they can this year. Although, this is by far the best test in my opinion, that Texas will play, not just because of opponent but also spot. First time leaving the friendly confines of the Lone Star State, and Illinois has played multiple MT events, big stages, neutral sites. I think they have an edge from just the experience of the neutral site sort of dynamic, that’ll be at play tonight.

Corbie Craig:

[inaudible 00:05:20].

Speaker 4:

Here first time in the show TJ not talking here. The Illini did go to Vegas, to your point, split the games with UCLA and with Virginia. Got an impressive win over UCLA there on the neutral floor. And they do come off a loss, Illinois, against Maryland. We’re going to talk about Maryland a little bit here in the show, so no official play on this one. But interesting, Illinois and Texas will be up first in that double header at Madison Square Garden, always the great cause for Jimmy V. The Jimmy V Foundation, hard to believe that we’re approaching 30 years since Jimmy V passed away from cancer. They have raised hundreds of millions of dollars through the V Foundation. You’re going to hear all about that obviously tonight, this week, on anything ESPN including, ESPN Radio, their site, all of it. Great cause no doubt about that.

Let’s move on and we are going to have an official play on this one. Not only do we have the powerhouse games, no, no, no, we don’t just stick to the Power Six Conferences. We stick to Texas A&M Commerce, and Wyoming. Hello, this one, @Laramie, Wyoming laying 11, the total is 132 for this matchup. The play is going to be Matty Cox’s official play. What do you have, sir, to begin a Tuesday of official plays?

Matt Cox:

I’m trying to follow this theme of first year D1 programs continuing to be undervalued. I know we’re at December 6th, it’s a month end of the year. You could argue a lot of that value’s been sucked up by how well all of these teams have played, but there is a common theme among them. And it’s very simply… There’s no good scouting report on them. I think there is this element of surprise that plays in their favor. We’ve seen it in years past, so I don’t think that’s… I don’t think what we’re witnessing right now is any sort of fluke. And I think the big key here is Wyoming is a shell itself right now. They’ve had players in and out left and right, obviously, their interior beast, Graham Ike, is still out. Hunter Maldonado, their old conference star did return last game, but they had a bunch of other role players out.

It’s a situation where you can tell that Jeff Linder, their head coach, has not been able to really get into a groove with his team with so many moving parts in the roster. We saw A&M Commerce actually go to altitude earlier this year, play Northern Colorado, not as good as Wyoming, obviously, but make a pretty big second half surge. I don’t think they’re bothered by the altitude or the elements of traveling on the road. They’ve proven themselves on the road multiple times this year. Just think 11 is a lot of points for a pretty athletic, feisty, and tough to prepare for Commerce team.

TJ Rives:

Love the fact that you’re zeroing in on an underdog. Corbie Craig, a thought or two here. Maldonado is one of the better best kept secrets if you don’t follow the Mountain West and Western Basketball as a point guard. I mean, he obviously doesn’t play for a prominent program in the east where you see him all the time. And as Matty mentioned, he’s even been in and out of the lineup. Any thoughts here, Corbie Craig, on this play that that Matty Cox has?

Corbie Craig:

Yeah, I lean to the under which bodes well for an underdog basically. 11 points for an under is plenty fine. Wyoming’s a really slow-paced team and as Matt references, they’ve had a ton of injuries as of late. Maldonado back obviously helps them a ton. But missing a lot of pieces that make him what he is. They’re 318th in tempo. And from the Texas A&M Commerce games that I’ve seen, it’s very seldom, it seems that they play to the pace of the teams that they play against. What, they scored 155 versus Northern Colorado with a 220 pace. And so they’re playing to the pace of the teams that we see. Wyoming’s going to control the pace here and I think this one goes under which getting 11 is plenty fine here.

TJ Rives:

All right, Matty Cox likes those 11 points with Texas A&M Commerce and the matchup here with Wyoming, let’s lock him in for the first official play for a couple of teams playing out west in Laramie, Wyoming. That game is a 9:00 Eastern Time. What? 7:00 Mountain Time game coming up this evening. Let’s move on onto Tuesday slate. We’ll get ready for your questions and answers as you see. Hit that light button, make sure you’re following us. Make sure you’re here with us live Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM Eastern time, all the way through the greatest month of the year, the month of March for a college basketball fan, all the way to the final four in Houston. We are here. All right, game number two for an official play off our schedule is Oak State Sam Houston. This a matchup in Stillwater. Oklahoma State beaten badly by Yukon in a Big 12 Big East showdown game on the weekend. Corbie Craig, you’re going to have the official play on the Cowboys here, laying 10, the total 133 on the over under. What do you like my friend?

Corbie Craig:

Yeah, this one’s gotten beaten up a little bit, but I like the over 133. It was 129 1/2 last night, so I guess take it both ways, it’s good to see that people agree with my opinion, but at the same time, you’re getting a little worse of a number. I still don’t think it matters much here. The main issue here is, I believe… I could be wrong here, but I think the Sam Houston State’s KenPom rating for Tempo is just incorrect. And that has forced this number too low. The reason I think that is if you look at turnover rates. So defensive turnover rates, this is the same Houston team that presses full court basically the entire game. You look at the other 20 teams in the nation that do this, all of their Tempo ratings are in the 58, 36, 119 type range, top 20, other than Houston and Iowa State, which granted, they’re beasts of their own.

This team is rated 208th in Tempo, and if you watch these games, they’re not playing slow. They’re playing a full court press and want to get in transition and forced quick shots. Their defensive time of possession is one of the lowest in the nation. Oklahoma City on the other hand has Avery Anderson, [inaudible 00:10:45] capable point guard. They have Boone, an athletic 6’9″, stretch four, who can break a press as easy as possible, just sit in the middle of the court. He is the ultimate press breaker when it comes to just a body and stature standpoint. Oklahoma State just got smacked around by a really good Yukon team, but at home, I think this is a spot where they’re not going to slow down by any means.

And Sam Houston State, though it looks like on paper they want to, if you’ve watched any game, or the Utah press conferences, every team talks about how good this press is. They’ve pressed Oklahoma to a 69 possession game, which is Oklahoma’s like third slowest in the nation. So I think we see a lot of possessions here. I had this at 137. And so getting a 129 1/2 last night was… I will gladly take. But 133, I still see plenty of value in here.

TJ Rives:

All right, so again, some line movement like we like to explain on the show here on the total, more on what Corbie’s official play is in a second. Matty Cox, what do we make of Sam Houston beating Oklahoma at Oklahoma and Utah at Utah. That’s eye opening on the early season resume. Any thoughts, if no official play?

Matt Cox:

Yeah, they play hard. They’re well coached. And to be honest, they’ve made some shots that I don’t think they can continue to make throughout the entire year, so I think the last part of that puzzle is maybe that starts to crack and we see them come back down to earth, but hard to poke holes at what they’ve done so far. Going into Utah and beating that Utah team, pretty impressive.

TJ Rives:

Yep. Give them some credit. Now they got to go into Stillwater. Corbie Craig is taking a look at that total and still likes the over at 133. As you were saying, you liked it better at 129, sometimes there’s line movement overnight and before we lock it in, but you still want points, points, points on the Sam Houston, Oklahoma State game, as we like to say. Let’s move on to a Big Ten game. That will be next on our card here. We’ve seen a lot of Big Ten early season action including a couple of upsets on the weekend like Northwestern beating Michigan State at East Lansing. Now this is Maryland and Wisconsin. Wisconsin is the short favorite, laying a point and a half. Our total is 129 1/2. Matty Cox, we are back to you. Do I smell potentially another underdog official play here?

Matt Cox:

You do. And I hate to go against the Big Ten home court, but I think the spot actually negates what’s usually a really strong home core value for Big Ten Conference games. On one hand, you have Maryland coming off the tough loss against… I’m sorry, Wisconsin coming off the big emotional win against their in-state rival in Marquette. That game went into overtime. Now they come back home. Obviously, there’ll be hype from Maryland coming to town, but I don’t think they’ll have the same juice in that building, the same urgency as a team coming off that big one against Marquette. I also am just selling Wisconsin in general. That’s part of my angle with this play here. Chucky Hepburn is… He was banged up down this stretch last game. I don’t think he’s been super reliable at the point of attack and their guards are really lacking behind him.

So I think Maryland is smart enough and deep enough. If you can take away in Crowl, Hepburn and I think you put a lot of pressure on the forge to create offense, and then just Maryland just has more weapons. I really just think that’s some more balanced, more talented team. And Kevin Willard continues to prove himself as one of the most underrated coaches right now in college basketball. So a lot sets up for Maryland. I think anything where they’re a dog down to pick is worth taking.

TJ Rives:

I was just going to go there with Willard getting off to the [inaudible 00:14:03]. He had a lot of people frustrated with not getting Seaton Hall far enough, maybe not being able to win games in the NCAA tournament. For what it’s worth, it’s November and December basketball, I get that, but they’ve gotten off to the good start Dante Scott averaging 15 a game, Corbie Craig, any thoughts? Maryland, the road team against Wisconsin? Any thoughts?

Corbie Craig:

Yeah, so I really hope that Matt hits this bit because the day after Thanksgiving I discussed the game that they play next. December 11th, Maryland sees Tennessee. And I’ve had this one circled for a minute. I talked about it on the show day after Thanksgiving. This Maryland team is really good, but they’re playing their absolute ceiling. I think that KenPom has this Tennessee game at a four point line on a neutral court at Barclays. And if Maryland goes into a neutral as a four point dog to Tennessee, I made this game 9 1/2, so I really hope Maryland beats the brakes off of Wisconsin, we see a lower number here, and Matt gets his win. And then I get to bet Tennessee on Sunday.

TJ Rives:

All right, so you’ve been kind of setting that up a little bit for the audience. If you’re paying attention as a look ahead for Maryland, Tennessee. XCal360 is watching us live. Thank you for doing so. He points out the Terps are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning straight up record. That’s the case with Wisconsin. And Matty Cox is looking that right in the eye and saying, “Underdog play on the Maryland Terrapins.” Unbeaten at 8-0. Like him, takes the point and a half for an official play on the show. Get your other questions and answers ready. We’ve got one more game as you see on our slate to talk about. That’s the second game of the Jimmy V Classic. Again, we’re here live every weekday at 11:00 AM Eastern Time. Make it a point to be with us here with your questions, your comments.

We always have time for live questions on different games, et cetera. Again, we’ve got several ones that we’ve been talking about today. One more that we’re going to officially talk about, but we love having the interaction with you, the fans. If you’ve not done it, hit that light button. Make sure that you’re subscribing. We keep growing and growing. Guys, I think we’re going to get to 3000 subscribers before Christmas. I think we can get there with the help of the peeps that are watching us. Hit the subscribe button, share it out, et cetera. As we mentioned, the second half of the Jimmy V Classic, what a surprise, it’s Duke. They always seem to play in this game, if not every year, every other year they’re in this game. Duke and Iowa, neutral floor, Duke laying 2 1/2. The total is 146 1/2 for this second of two. Illinois and Texas up first, as we told you earlier in the show. Corbie Craig we’re to you. What is the official play that you have on this one, sir?

Corbie Craig:

Yeah, this one is just a… I hate to say it, but it’s just like a… I don’t think too hard about it. I don’t think this Iowa team has enough talent overall to stick with Duke for a full, what, 40 minutes. They’re going to want to push tempo. Duke has plenty of length to match up their tempo. If anything, I would probably lean the under here. I think that Dukes is… It is fully a personnel to personnel matchup differential. I think that they match up really well with Iowa and I’m not buying… Iowa’s third in the nation in offensive efficiency. They’re going to miss some shots at some point. We haven’t seen it yet, and they’re also first in nation and turnover percent. So they’ve taken the absolute best care of the ball that they can and they’ve shot basically to their ceiling, and I had Duke at 4 1/2, so I’ll take this number here.

TJ Rives:

Matty Cox, a thought here on a Duke team that has beaten Ohio State at home as they did in the ACC Big Ten Challenge, turned around on the weekend and beat Boston College in the ACC opener at home. Jon Scheyer trying to put his imprint early on on this team. Any thoughts on Duke if no official play?

Matt Cox:

Yeah, I like that Scheyer shown a mixed bag of defenses but it’s also a double-edged sword. It sort of reveals that Duke’s still figuring itself out, especially on the defensive end. He’s still trying to iron out rotations. I’m with Corbie though I definitely lean toward Duke. They play well in these neutral site games historically. Anecdotally, Madison Square Garden is a place they play often. So I think Duke actually has the slight edge share with the spot. And I agree with Corbie’s take on the matchup. I think their talent and their speed actually is well equipped to handle Iowa’s transition D.

TJ Rives:

A lot of people going… Yep. A lot of people going back and forth in the chat on this one about Duke. And it is… You’re absolutely right. I mean, that is a home away from home situation for Duke. There are a ton of Duke alumni in the greater New York, New York City, New York, New Jersey area that always show, and here’s the other thing, they have been such a tradition rich winning program, it’s sickened some, but they’re going to have fans almost anywhere they go, but especially in the Northeast. They seem to draw, they always are playing in the East Regional it seems like in the NCAA tournament and have a game every so often that’s in New York or New Jersey in the tournament to draw from that fan base. It will be no different tonight for Iowa. Yes, it will not be on Cameron’s home floor, but it will be like a home away from home game at times for Duke, especially if they get it going in this matchup tonight.

So for the official play, Corbie Craig believes in those Duke Blue Devils. Let’s lock him in. He says lay those 2 1/2 points for Jon Scheyer’s team. Filipowski, the big guy has played well at home. Will it translate on the neutral floor? Corbie seems to think so in this matchup with Iowa coming up tonight. Okay, time for your questions and answers in our remaining few moments. A lot of you’re going back and forth, get those in the live chat. We’ll get to some of those. Alejandro and our guys at BetUS, we’ll have some live questions coming up on the screen for us here in just a second for some of these different matchups. And games that you guys are curious about here coming up for tonight. In fact, let’s get this going.

Yukon Reb is watching us, love that handle in the YouTube chat. Yukon Reb is asking about James Madison and Virginia. Virginia off a sluggish… Is that the right word? Win over Florida State that they won by single digits and didn’t cover. I did see that this weekend. Yukon Reb wants to know what about James Madison, the Dukes. Corbie Craig, any thought if no play here?

Corbie Craig:

I had this right at 12 and 132. So basically right on market, so nothing fun. I think Virginia does have a really good basketball team, but covering big spreads is pretty, I don’t know how I feel about backing Virginia over a spread of anything over probably 10. They just don’t play-

TJ Rives:

What were they like? They were like 18 or 19 or something on Saturday with Florida State and Florida State was winning the game in the second half at one point. So large spread didn’t happen there in the ACC, right to your point.

Corbie Craig:

Yeah, it’s just like… I mean, we’ve seen it for years. This isn’t a team that cares to win by 20. They care to win. And it’s bit them in the butt they lost in March Madness because they let a team that probably shouldn’t even be in the same race as them shoot high and they don’t have an offense that can score 70, 80 points. So if a team shoots well, they’re in trouble and it’s done well for them over past years. Obviously, they’ve won national championships. But it’s not something that I want to bet on by any means.

TJ Rives:

Matty Cox, any thoughts, or do you want to move on?

Matt Cox:

I would like the under. I think UAVA controls the pace. This total’s a little bit too high for my liking so if I’m looking for action, I go under.

TJ Rives:

Very good. Bob is watching us live on a Tuesday says, “Any thoughts on East Carolina and UNC Wilmington boys?” Matty Cox, I’ll come right back to you, a thought or two?

Matt Cox:

I like Wilmington. They just seem to have a knack for winning in these close games. Last year, everyone thought they had a horseshoe shoved up their behind, and this year it seems to be lodged up there again, but I think there’s something to that confidence we saw at Providence last year. Another situation where it’s kind of a close spread to [inaudible 00:21:48]. I give them the edge. I’m not a huge believer in this ECU team despite the fact that they’ve played pretty well so far.

TJ Rives:

Corbie Craig, a thought on East Carolina and UNC Wilmington. Wilmington, the Seahawks. Am I right about that? I don’t think I’m right about that.

Corbie Craig:

Yep. I like Wilmington. It’s a really close line here for me. My issue with Wilmington is it doesn’t seem like they get very many rebounds. And rebounding is quite obviously one of the most important parts of basketball. Get as many possessions as you can, limit to one possession. And I see defensive rebounds there near the bottom in the nation.

TJ Rives:

Good enough there, even though we don’t have an official play. Arbone is watching us, says, “Breakdown Yale and Butler, please.” Either of you want to take a stab at that one? Corbie, got a thought on Yale and Butler, if no play?

Corbie Craig:

Yeah. For sure. First appreciate Arbone. He watches literally every day. I’ll see his name pop in here all the time so appreciate that. Second, it’s goofy the games that we get asked so I’m scrolling through to find Yale, Butler after looking up UNC Wilmington. But yeah, I lean towards the under in this game. Yale’s actually a really good basketball team. I’ve been impressed with Yale. I bet they’re overs a couple times now. The issue is their defense is really good. I bet an over… I can’t remember who they played, but they won like 87-40 or something, and so I lost a total because they allowed 40. And so I’ve been impressed by this defense. Butler wants to slow it down too. I would say the under if anything here.

TJ Rives:

Matty Cox, a thought on Yale and Butler, if no play?

Matt Cox:

I like Butler. Mark disagrees with me, they bet Yale down to six. Yale’s been awesome so far recently. I just don’t think Yale steps up in class. I think we’ve seen them this year and the year before. They’ve given bludgeoned by power conference teams. Not always, but I think usually they tend to maybe mail it in down the stretch because they know that really it’s all about the [inaudible 00:23:37] for them, non-conference means nothing. So that’s my concern if you looking to back Yale.

TJ Rives:

All right. My guys keep firing in questions here. The peeps, the guys and gals keep firing those away. Let’s see. We’ve got somebody else. Top Rankin says, “What about Kansas City and Oklahoma?” He doesn’t mean the Chiefs. He means UMKC and Oklahoma. Any thoughts on that, guys?

Corbie Craig:

It’s a very low total. Both of these teams want to play very slow. UMKC’s kind of been a headache. If you watch them, they cannot shoot to save their lives. I think they went like 1 for 17 from deep the other day. I bet you over, of course. But they don’t want to do much of anything. Oklahoma runs the shot clock down at zero so probably an under but it’s like 122 1/2, I believe. So nothing for me.

TJ Rives:

Matty Cox, any thoughts? The [inaudible 00:24:27] have kind of been up and down.

Matt Cox:

Yeah. But trending in the right direction. And UMKC’s a team I’ve been fading. It did not work out for me over the weekend. I think I’d probably lean OU here again. With all due respect to Marvin Menzies, I just think his talent is lacking at this juncture.

TJ Rives:

All right, still looking at some of the live questions, we’ve covered some of these. Core1024 says, “What about the total on Pacific and Northern Arizona?” Now we’re going in the weeds, now we’re going on the beaten path. Total for Pacific and Northern Arizona is 148. He’s asking specifically about that. Matty Cox, any thought on that total?

Matt Cox:

I would lean over. I know your team plays a ton of defense. I think Pacific is really in disarray on both sides, but I think this game turns into a sort of a non-conference exhibition type of game. Pace probably inflates a little bit. Both teams have some scores, shot makers, Ivy-Curry for Pacific. Jalen Cone for Northern Arizona. I do think over’s probably the right play here. Big number, but I like over.

TJ Rives:

Corbie, any thoughts, if no play on that total?

Corbie Craig:

I have unfortunately already bet this. Under. The reasoning is only a numbers base. I couldn’t tell you much about this team. I had Pacific at 70 1/2 points. I think if they don’t score 75. This under is alive and well. We have two people that collaborate in making our wages throughout the week and so we hit Pacific under, I believe, 146 1/2. So the markets disagreed but yeah, I like the under. He bet it. So the amount I know on it is very little.

TJ Rives:

All right, time for a couple more questions before we get out of here. Thank you. And I see the live audience growing as well. Hit that like button if you’ve not done it, make sure you’re subscribing as well here on the program. Joe Jiggy watching us, love these handles from The Savages. Says, “American plus 3 1/2.” And is it Montana State? Guys, help me with that. I’m not sure what… It’s Mount St. Mary’s, that’s what it is. American plus 3 1/2. Any thoughts here, guys? Matty, any thoughts?

Matt Cox:

Lean Mount St. Mary’s. Nothing strong. I think under is probably the right play. I think it was a grinded out type game. But again, nothing strong. Just leans in the extra [inaudible 00:26:44] game here.

TJ Rives:

Corbie Craig. Any thoughts there on that one? American University, Mount St. Mary’s. And American hang in there for a little while with Georgetown, I believe.

Corbie Craig:

Yeah, I… Did they win? I think-

TJ Rives:

They might have even beaten them. I remember that in the recesses of my brain. We might be right on that one. [inaudible 00:26:59]. Go ahead.

Corbie Craig:

Georgetown was up at like 9 1/2 because I obviously bet Georgetown to cover the spread, I think that they lost. I bet the under here already. It’s 127 1/2 now. We bet 130 which was just way too high. First side, I would say Mount St. Mary’s win as well as Matt alluded to. Mount St. Mary’s has been a pretty good team overall this year. American has had some injury issues. The main thing there is, do I have their number too low because of these injury issues? Can you project a team’s total when their best player’s out? Because the entire offense has to change. So maybe I have their number too low, but I like Mount St. Mary’s and the under here.

TJ Rives:

And you are correct, it was a 74-70 win at Georgetown. They’ve actually won five in a row since two opening losses with Marist and George Mason, American is won five straight. For what it’s worth, this is the kind of stuff you’re going to get here on the BetUS College Basketball Show. Not just the biggest games, but some of this here on the other ones. Vinchenzo, I see you in the live chat. I’m making mention of my Buccaneer lid and about Tom Brady missing open receivers, but in the words of the immortal, Al Davis, “Just win, baby.” Don’t ask you how, didn’t ask you how many at the end, just win some games. And Tom Brady found a way to pull it out again last night and makes for a happy Tuesday household in the Rives household. That is for sure on that.

We’ve got time for one or two questions, maybe more. Clarence is watching us, says, “Do either one of you have a lock of the day?” We’ve got your lock picks. If you had to go with one lock of the day, do you guys have one out of your official plays or whatever? I don’t want to… What do you think? What’s a lock of the day?

Matt Cox:

There’s no locks in betting. I will say that right now. [inaudible 00:28:35] first half, true to our show’s roots. Shout to Mid-major Matt. I did not bet the team total, but I did take them first half.

TJ Rives:

I like it.

Matt Cox:

They’ve bet up a little bit, on the [inaudible 00:28:44] Iowa, -3.

TJ Rives:

Corbie, a thought on locks? No lock today? You got your official plays, guys, but what about locks?

Corbie Craig:

Yeah. Definitely not a lock. But if I was saying… It depends on what you mean. If you’re asking like what’s my favorite bet of what I’ve bet so far, I would say Oklahoma State over, but obviously, there’s no lock. You’re well aware that there’s no lock if you’re watching this show, like come on, the only lock would be like Charleston moneyline versus Presbyterian. But good luck there.

TJ Rives:

The lock Rives from 15 at the foul line. A lock Rives four foot par putt. No such help here on the Tuesday with locks from the boys. Couple more quick questions. If I have it right, I, the 338 says, “Winthrop, South Carolina State.” Now we’re getting obscure. Winthrop, South Carolina State. Any thoughts? Or you want to [inaudible 00:29:34] that?

Matt Cox:

Nothing for me. Sorry TJ. I think I’d lean Winthrop, but they’ve had some injuries. They got healthier, but I just don’t like their finish product.

TJ Rives:

Corbie, anything or you want to move on?

Corbie Craig:

Yeah. They’ve had some injury issues as well. I like the under here. Not wait. Winthrop. No, I like the over. It was 155 1/2 this morning. Sorry. Complete counter 360. I like the over but I believe it’s been bet up to 160 now, so nothing for me.

TJ Rives:

Couple of people are asking about the under on UT Arlington in North Texas. Any thoughts on that?

Matt Cox:

Yes.

TJ Rives:

At all.

Matt Cox:

It seems too obvious to me. So Corbie’s better at totals than I am, but man, it feels way too obvious as slow as these teams play. What’s the number? I think it’s below 120, isn’t it?

Corbie Craig:

It’s 114.

Matt Cox:

Wow.

Corbie Craig:

That’s why I’m shaking my head. It makes no sense. I had it at 107. I will not be betting the under by any means.

TJ Rives:

Somebody’s asking about Houston. I know they play Alabama in the rematch. They play Alabama this weekend. They play North Florida tonight. Somebody’s asking about Houston. They’re a massive favorite, total 137 1/2. Any quick thought on the Houston Cougars in this spot?

Matt Cox:

North Florida does not deal well with power conference talent. They’ve been smashed already this year by, I believe, Kentucky and Gonzaga. Their head coach uses the non-con as like a Petri dish trial air thing. I think Houston smashes, for sure.

TJ Rives:

And money. And money. [inaudible 00:30:56]. He’s asking also… Silvar is asking about the Houston team total at home, 85 1/2.

Matt Cox:

Yeah.

TJ Rives:

Thought or stay away, Corbie?

Corbie Craig:

It’s a bit too high for me. I do have one thing on this. Houston coming future, I think, would probably be a good end of the show if that sounds good. Houston plays. And it’s been less Houston, it’s more Alabama. So if Houston plays North Florida and then they get Alabama next. That’s going to be a really good game at home. The issue is, and where I think that we can look forward in the future is, Alabama plays Houston on the road. Then they get Memphis at home, which Matt alluded to is the best Memphis team they’ve seen in a minute. And then three days later at a semi home game in Birmingham, they get Gonzaga, which is currently lined Alabama -1 per KenPom. If they have to play Houston, Memphis, Gonzaga, and the third game is Bama, anything under like four. I will gladly take every bit of Gonzaga that I can. Maybe I’m low on Alabama. I think that that number is absolutely insane. I think it should be closer to 6 1/2, especially with the situational matchup for who they play before.

TJ Rives:

Yeah, they may get beaten up over the course of that run of those three games. All right, good enough there on all of those. Here are our best bets for Tuesday from the handicappers. You can see them on the screen. I won’t go over all of it. You do see Corbie is on a side in the Jimmy V Classic. You see Matt Cox is on a couple of underdogs as well. Boys, we’ve come to the end of a Tuesday show. Any final thoughts? Anything else we didn’t cover or say? Matty Cox, anything? We good?

Matt Cox:

I think we’re good. Let’s go bets.

TJ Rives:

Let’s go get it. Corbie Craig, final thought before we’re done?

Corbie Craig:

I think this is the first show that we’ve gotten like good team versus good team in quite some time. So it was a fun show. I hope people got some value out of that.

TJ Rives:

Listen, we love being with you Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM Eastern Time. Great stuff, Corbie Craig. Great stuff Matty Cox. Good luck with your plays. Alejandro, everybody at BetUS. We thank you. We thank all of you for watching. Hit that like button one more time. Let’s get the subscriber count up as well for the BetUS College Basketball Show.
