Best NCAAF Bets for the National Championship Game

Ohio State vs. Notre Dame (Team Total 1st Half) Betting Analysis

We’re down to one final college football game of the season, and it’s time to get talking about our Ohio State vs. Notre Dame betting analysis. But this breakdown is reserved for Notre Dame’s first-half offense.

As Parker, one of our BetUS NCAAF handicappers, pointed out, the Irish will be lucky to break out of the blocks and put more than one touchdown on the board over the first two quarters against this stingy Buckeyes’ defense.

Notre Dame’s team total for the game is 17 ½ points, which means the oddsmakers don’t believe Notre Dame will score more than two touchdowns in this National Championship game tonight. Therefore, it stands to reason that it will take some time for the Irish to make offensive adjustments against the Ohio State defensive schemes.

By the time they do, they will likely be trailing and playing much looser in the second half, throwing caution to the wind. The first half is likely to be trial and error before they make their halftime adjustments on both offense and defense.

Betting that the Irish score only one touchdown or less in the opening half takes a bit of gumption, but that Buckeyes’ defense will have their ears pinned back as this first half unfolds.

Include under 7 ½ Notre Dame team total in the first half as one of your NCAA football score predictions.

Pick: Under 7 ½ (-110) Notre Dame Team Total 1st Half

TreVeyon Henderson Over 20.5 Receiving Yards Betting Analysis

The Buckeyes come equipped with a pick-your-poison rushing attack in the form of a dynamic duo consisting of TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. But it’s the former that can really turn on the speed burners when he’s targeted through the air, and BetUS handicapper Gary has wisely thought about that in his NCAAF predictions today.

Consider for a moment that Henderson had 27 receptions coming out of the backfield this season and chewed up 284 yards, or 10.5 yards per catch. Compare that to Judkins, who caught 20 passes but had only 140 receiving yards at 7 yards per reception.

In other words, when Ohio State quarterback Will Howard gets in a jam, he’ll be looking for an easy outlet pass, and he knows Henderson rarely disappoints. Yes, the Irish have an outstanding defense, but short routes coming out of the backfield will be used to soften their pass defense up before the Buckeyes offense begins stretching the field.

Should Henderson have even two catches on Monday night, it’s likely this total goes over, which is why we’re including over 19 ½ receiving yards for Treveyon Henderson in our best college football bets tonight.

Pick: Treveyon Henderson Over 19 ½ (-110) Receiving Yards
