Breaking Down 3 Key Matchups for UFC 317

With Top-Tier Talent, Intense Matchups, and Everything on the Line, UFC 317 Is Shaping up to Be Unforgettable

It’s Time!🥊

This weekend’s inaugural visit to Azerbaijan for UFC Baku isn’t too shabby whatsoever, but let’s keep it real… There’s one UFC card that the entire MMA fan base can’t wait for, and said card is UFC 317 on June 28.

Headlined with two UFC championship bouts involving Ilia Topuria, Charles Oliveria, Alexandre Pantoja, and Kai Kara-France, there isn’t much to dislike about next weekend’s pay-per-view, and with that said, it’s only right that your boy takes an early look at the UFC odds and help you discover the wagering value on offer.

So, without further ado, I present to you three UFC 317 fights that you should bet on!

Ilia Topuria (-455) vs. Charles Oliveira (+342)

Thankfully, we can return to referring to Ilia Topuria as ‘El Matador’ because ‘La Leyenda’ just wasn’t quite hitting the mark. And to be honest, the Spanish Georgian UFC star is more akin to a bullfighter, especially when you look at his UFC performances thus far.

A 16-0 unbeaten pro-MMA record is one thing. Still, when Topuria enters the T-Mobile Arena to fight Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira next weekend, he’ll be returning to action following back-to-back knockout wins over Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway… A resume that I believe nobody will ever replicate.

However, it isn’t just impressive numbers and championship wins that attract bettors to Topuria; it’s the skill set and sky-high confidence he currently owns. Some of the crispest, cleanest, most technical boxing we’ve ever seen, coupled with an underrated ground game that’s seen him submit the likes of Bryce Mitchell, alongside a level of confidence that saw him vacate the 145lb featherweight strap to challenge Islam Makhachev, presents a man on a mission.

While his original sights were shifted from Makhachev to Do Bronx due to the pound-for-pound No.1 moving weight classes himself, we’re still going to be in for a treat, and I believe it’s safe to say that 99% of handicappers will be attacking the El Matador moneyline as UFC predictions opposed to having faith in the underdog.

Now, don’t get me wrong… Do Bronx is an SOB once that cage door closes. Time and time again, the Brazilian has defied the odds and displayed adversity like no other. Unfortunately, we’ve seen him get pummelled by strikers who are levels below Topuria in said department, and with the Georgian MMA superstar also having a slick ground game, I envision nothing but boxing combinations giving him the edge in this bout.

I hate to utilize the word ‘lock,’ but if you have ultimate faith in any fighter winning at UFC 317, look no further than Topuria to become the new lightweight champion. Should the moneyline present a little more juice than you’d like, wait and attack the inside the distance prop because we know that 80% of Oliveira’s losses have come by knockout or submission. At the same time, Topuria’s finishing ability is second to none.

Beneil Dariush (+130) vs. Renato Moicano (-150)

This particular fight needs little explanation because, as we all know from UFC news, longevity and durability are the ultimate fade material in UFC predictions, and the 36-year-old Beneil Dariush seems to be at the end of his tether in this regard.

It’s no secret that Dariush has consistently demonstrated defensive vulnerability throughout his career; however, an eight-fight win streak, accompanied by a strong offensive wrestling style, previously kept him safe. Now, 36, consecutive round one knockout losses have put a red flag on his lightweight ceiling moving forward, and Renato ‘Money’ Moicano should be able to follow suit.

Moicano will be faster and more agile on the feet, but if Dariush wants to wrestle, he’ll also be placed right into a BJJ danger zone with the Brazilian. Couple this with the current odds, I’m seeing nothing but value on a Moicano play here!

Terrance McKinney (-185) vs. Viacheslav Borshchev (+150)

Chicago, Illinois native Terrance McKinney may have a 6-4 UFC record, showing inconsistency throughout his tenure to date, but win or lose, the 30-year-old is almost guaranteed to put on a show, and I believe Viacheslav Borschev is the perfect opponent to accompany him in violence!

We’re currently looking at a McKinney moneyline at -185, and I have a feeling this might creep beyond the -200 range by next week. Why? There’s a certain level of opposition that will test the finishing menace, and Borshchev just doesn’t fit the bill.

Athletic grapplers with power have tested McKinney’s chin on many occasions, while the same style of opponents have also caused Bors some issues. As you’ve probably guessed, both love to strike, and with a four-inch reach disadvantage in this contest, I don’t see the underdog handling the faster, more dangerous opponent.

It does feel like both fighters have a knockout win condition, so if you aren’t feeling McKinney’s moneyline, the total going under is always a valid option for the favorite, who’s never seen a judges’ scorecard in 23 fights to date.
