Dana White Stamps a Deadline on Whether Jones Fights Aspinall

Jones vs. Aspinall Saga Continues to Drive Fans Crazy, and the UFC Must Act Now

GTA 6 Before Jones vs. Aspinall

There are three guarantees in life… Death, taxes, and knowing that every MMA fan on the planet is sick of hearing Jon Jones’ name in UFC news without a Tom Aspinall fight announcement attached to it.

For nearly two years now, we fans have been chomping at the bit for a UFC heavyweight unification bout involving Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, with nothing but false hope being thrown our way in the meantime.

Since November of 2024, Bones, Aspinall, and the UFC have been in communication about this potential clash. Yet, it’s the interim title holder, Aspinall, who has undeniably been ready since day one, whilst Jones, now referred to as “a duck,” has contemplated retirement and also has constantly teased fans on social media for their support of his new foe.

At this point, it feels like we’re definitely getting GTA 6 before Jones vs. Aspinall, if we even get the fight at all!

Finally, it seems that UFC CEO Dana White is as frustrated as we are about the situation, as some of his latest comments have shed light on when and how we’ll get the answers we’ve been looking for in UFC rumors.

Dana White Gives a Jones/Aspinall Deadline on ‘The Jim Rome Show’

MMA media members have bombarded White with questions regarding Aspinall, Jones, and the UFC schedule since the moment the Englishman won the interim title. However, besides claiming Bones is “the GOAT,” the UFC president hasn’t given much solid information regarding the potential bout.

With the continuous pressure for White to act on his past promises that he’d make the fight, this week on The Jim Rome Show, he gave his most definitive update yet:

We’ll see how this thing plays out over the next couple of weeks. If we can’t get this fight done, we’ll move on quickly. We’ll have the answers in the next couple of weeks,” White told Jim Rome.

It Should’ve Never Gone This Far…

Dana has been no stranger when discussing how complicated a person Jon Jones is to deal with. Therefore, they likely knew after the Stipe Miocic fight that it wouldn’t be plain sailing when attempting to book a unification bout with Aspinall.

So, here’s my question: Why didn’t they just strip him of the championship? The very same championship that Aspinall, like most interim champions, should’ve been signed to compete for as soon as he won the interim title in 2023! Instead, Aspinall has defended the interim belt, which is almost unheard of in this sport.

I think I speak for the majority of MMA fans when I say we’re sick of this drama. We were once hyped for Jones vs. Aspinall, but now, all we want is for the heavyweight division to move on. Aspinall has been sidelined during this time, and we could’ve seen him fight twice! Instead, we’re dealing with a rich, ego-fuelled Jones who I believe thinks he’s bigger than the UFC…

Nobody is bigger than the UFC, full stop.

Defend or vacate Jon, two weeks, the clock is ticking!
