Yes, Alexander Volkanovski vs Diego Lopes will spearhead UFC 314, live from Miami, Fla., this weekend. Still, the people’s main event involves Conor McGregor’s biggest fan and a big blonde bushy-haired dude hailing from England.

You guessed it, we’re back to discuss Michael Chandler vs Paddy Pimblett, and when it comes to UFC betting, you won’t find a more dedicated and experienced bettor like me, willing to guide you in the right direction before you bet on UFC.

Inside the Octagon: Skillset Breakdown

Michael Chandler Doesn’t Know How to Win

He’s a former Bellator champion (whatever that means), and five of his six UFC appearances have been awarded Fight of the Night awards. Iron Michael Chandler is here to put on a show regardless of the occasion, location or opponent.

But guess what? He doesn’t win fights and that’s a huge concern when approaching the UFC odds tonight because long-term bettors of Chandler are losing bettors. Nothing more, and nothing less.

I will show respect for Chandler’s skill set. He has that D1 wrestling background and the punching power that could put many top lightweight contenders out cold. But then we look at his fighting intelligence and a lack of ability to adapt during fights.

Remember when he stood up with Charles Oliveira on his back to throw himself back to the ground whilst still in a disadvantageous position (twice)? Yeah, I can’t support that stupidity, and now he’s 38, at the back end of his career, faced with a young and hungry opponent hoping to use his name as a stepping stone.

Ohhh, Paddy the Baddy!

Has Chandler dropped some of the best lightweights (Poirier, Oliveira, etc.) with his menacing, no f*cks given attitude to striking exchanges? Yes. Has Chandler also been dropped by a completely washed Tony Ferguson? Also, yes, per Chandler vs Pimblett stats.

Most people are banking on Chandler’s power in this fight, but his durability and reckless striking style, on top of that horrible fight IQ, are worrisome.

While “Paddy the Baddy” is most known for his jiu-jitsu and grappling prowess, he can undoubtedly touch the chin of Chandler, a fighter who’s on his way out of the promotion. Plus, the man spent nearly two years waiting for Conor McGregor while Paddy has been getting that work in.

  • Chandler holds a 2-4 losing record
  • Chandler has lost 4 of his previous 5 UFC bouts
  • Pimblett is undefeated in the UFC (6-0)

Chandler vs Pimblett: UFC 314 From a Betting Perspective

Whether it’s a crafty guillotine or a counter-striking moment where he capitalizes on Chandler’s meat-hook offense, Paddy Pimblett is the side for UFC picks tonight.

There’s a lot of talk in UFC news that Pimblett is overrated and that he’ll never compete with the best lightweights. And while there are arguments to support this, he’s a superstar in the UFC, and Dana White has booked him perfectly thus far.

I expect the cautious booking to pay dividends again, as a weak-chin, low-fight IQ and respected name of Chandler will give us English something to cheer about come Saturday.

My Best Bet: Paddy Pimblett Moneyline -150

Prop Bet: Over 1.5 Rounds (-175)
