UFC 275 is heavily dominated by favorites in online betting markets and they could be tough to bet against.
Headlining the main card, not including the main event between Glover Teixeira vs Jiri Prochazka, are two excellent women’s fights.
Valentina Shevchenko faces Taila Santos, and Weili Zhang squares off against Joanna Jedrzejczyk, so buckle in for an exciting Saturday night.
Shevchenko vs Santos
We love watching Valentina Shevchenko and she is a clear-cut favorite to beat 19-1 Taila Santos.
The 34-year-old Shevchenko is 22-3 and the current women’s flyweight champion following her knockout victory over Lauren Murphy.
She also knocked out Jessica Andrade, which is no easy feat and it’s why the sportsbook has Shevchenko at -600 in UFC markets. It’s a very short quote but she has a significant class advantage over Santos.
“It’s like, ‘No one is unbeatable. She has some holes in her game.’ But once they step inside the octagon, they feel the opposite side,” Shevchenko told MMA Junkie.
“They feel the difference between the fighters and this is the most important. She’s trying to hypnotize herself to convince that there should be, but she’s wrong. It’s not gonna work for her.”
Santos earned her title spot with a submission win over Joanne Wood. She hasn’t faced anyone near the class of Shevchenko and the 28-year-old Brazilian could be in for a rude awakening.
It’s not easy to take such short odds in a UFC fight, but we’re confident with the favorite in the co-main event.
Pick: Valentina Shevchenko -600
Zhang vs Jedrzejczyk
Weili Zhang is keen to get back to a title fight against Rose Namajunas following a defeat at UFC 268 last November.
Despite the loss, Zhang went five rounds with the champion and it was a much better effort after getting knocked out by Namajunas at UFC 261.
The Chinese MMA specialist has already beaten Jedrzejczyk when they met in 2020, so she could double down on that. She won in a five-round decision, which was a close fight, but Zhang was dominant late.
UFC odds have Zhang at a respectable -175 and that’s a fair price. Jedrzejczyk hasn’t fought since losing to Zhang, which won’t help her situation. We would have loved to have seen her fight at least once, so she could be rusty.
Pick: Weili Zhang -175
Bontorin vs Kape
Manel Kape is an explosive knockout artist and he’s another favorite who could rack up a big victory.
The Angolan finished his opponent at UFC Fight Night in the first round, which followed a first-round knockout of Ode Osbourne, who has since scored an impressive knockout win last week.
The form bodes well for Kape, who improved to 17-6 and now eyes Rogerio Bontorin, who hasn’t won since 2019. Bontorin is 0-3 since beating Raulian Paiva, including losses to Ray Borg, Kai Kara-France and Brandon Royval.
Kape could end the fight early and the -230 is an attractive price. However, we’re prepared to take the risk and back Kape to win via knockout. He’s paying +110 to end the fight early and he has our backing.
Pick: Manel Kape by KO +110
Della Maddalena vs Emeev
Jack Della Maddalena gives away some reach, but his knockout win over Pete Rodriguez was outstanding.
It came after just three minutes and it bodes well against Ramazan Emeev, who is the more experienced fighter but doesn’t have the same power.
Emeev lost to Danny Roberts by decision last October and a repeat of that performance wouldn’t get the job done.
UFC betting markets have Maddalena at -155 and those odds are good enough to take. We would have been prepared to take -180, so we’re locking in the value to start the UFC main card.
Pick: Jack Della Maddalena -155
