Gane vs Volkov Picks: Betting Value with Underdog at UFC 310 December 07

An important UFC heavyweight fight takes place at UFC 310 at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday between contenders Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov.

Is Frenchman Worthy of -360 Odds?

It has been an interesting career to date for Gane, who gave up exceptionally quickly when losing to Jones at UFC 285, but he bounced back with a win over Sergey Spivak.

UFC Betting Odds markets have Gane far too short at -360, considering he didn’t dominate Volkov in the first meeting. It was a decision victory and there wasn’t much splitting them over five rounds. Now Gane has fewer rounds to work with on Saturday.

The 34-year-old French fighter hasn’t fought for over a year after knocking out Spivak in the second round. However, there is always good confidence that Gane will get the job done, and he knows the winner will be close to fighting either Tom Aspinall or Jones.

“At first, when the UFC proposed me this fight, I was a little bit [like], ‘Oh … why?‘” Gane said. “But this fight makes sense. I’m No. 1 [ranked contender], he’s No. 2 and this really makes sense. Behind me [in the rankings], you have a little trouble, so I know this fight looks like a semifinal to go to the belt.”

There is no doubting the talents of Gane, but -360 is too short to include him in our UFC expert betting picks. We would have been interested at -200, but there is much better value with Volkov.

Alexander Volkov ML (+260)

We believe a three-round fight suits Volkov more than it suits Gane, so getting +260 for the Russian to win is too good to overlook.

The 36-year-old is a workhorse in the heavyweight division, and although he lost to Gane in 2021, he landed 115 significant strikes and stuffed four takedown attempts from Gane, but it wasn’t enough to earn the victory.

Since that loss, he has defeated the likes of Marcin Tybura, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Tai Tuivasa and Alexander Romanov. He also had the benefit of fighting in 2024 when beating Sergei Pavlovich, so he won’t have ring rust.

It’s why Volkov is a solid bet to turn the tables and cause some havoc in the heavyweight division. A big win over Gane would thrust him back into title contention and a loss would all but end his hopes of ever achieving that.

Gane vs Volkov Prop: Volkov to Win by Decision

Getting +260 for Volkov to win is a fair price, but getting +500 for Volkov to win by decision is even better shopping for online betting.

They are big punchers, but they went five rounds without knocking each other out in 2021, so we don’t see why this fight won’t end with the judges on Saturday.

Getting +500 for the UFC prop bet is too good to pass up, and it could be the biggest upset on the PPV card.
