We can’t wait to see Kevin Holland vs Daniel Rodriguez and we expect to see fireworks in this catchweight fight.
Holland comes off a two-fight win streak and he’s the current -200 favorite with UFC betting markets. However, Rodriguez is a quality fighter who could test the more experienced fighter.
Holland Showing Skills
The penny might have dropped for 29-year-old Holland, who knocked out Alex Oliveira in the second round at UFC 272 before submitting Tim Means in June.
He hasn’t always shown the most consistency throughout his career and back-to-back losses to Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori set him back. However, his last two fights have been excellent.
We’re not surprised to see UFC odds have him as the dominant favorite. He’s always well-backed to win and the Californian could continue his progression on Saturday.
The 23-7 fighter has a significant reach advantage over Rodriguez and he should use that to keep his opponent at bay.
Actions Speak Louder than Word
Rodriguez is 16-2 following wins over Mike Perry, Preston Parsons, and Kevin Lee. The wins over Perry and Lee bode well and he faces another tough fighter at UFC 279.
Since arriving in the UFC in 2020, Rodriguez has had only one loss but the 35-year-old has a tough ask to keep that record intact. Despite facing a tough opponent, there is confidence with the +160 betting online underdog.
“I never really have been that talking type,” Rodriguez told MMA Junkie. “I’ve been more about that action. He does a lot of trash-talking and sh*t. I don’t think it’s going to affect me much. I grew up around a bunch of trash talkers.
“He’s a tough opponent, definitely for sure. He’s got a lot of momentum coming into the welterweight division. Two wins. He beat a guy that I beat. Kevin Holland, fighting him coming back, is a fun fight for me. It’s a fight that was supposed to happen.”
It’s his toughest test to date and we can’t overlook the reach disadvantage. Rodriguez should find it tough to close the distance and do any considerable damage to Holland.

Holland vs Rodriguez Prediction
It could be tough for bettors to take the -200 for Holland, but he’s well worth including in UFC parlays.
The American has renewed confidence after consecutive wins and they have been impressive. He didn’t just win them by decision, he finished the fights early and that’s the sign of quality and an exciting fighter.
We’re not disrespecting the talent of Rodriguez, but he’s the older fighter and he might be caught with a big right hand from Holland.
